For me Efren vs Bustamante in 1999 world 9 ball championship semi finals is the best, both played at incredibly high level, almost no error , Efran won 9 racks in the row, oh my god..
@@c.w.9501 Yeah I watched it a live on ESPN back then, I was like what?? Felt sorry for Bustamante, he was on fire in the tournament prior to the match, and the several racks before that incredible 9 racks by Reyes. Man I was rooting for Django that time, he was such a young and great player back then..
Not only is Efren a world class champion but he also has the deep respect and admiration of his fellow players. They have no problem calling him The Magician. His quiet demeanor and imposing perseverance make him a true legend of the game.
@@stephaniedelacruz227 yes! Theyre also Kumpares, Efren's son is Francisco's godson and Francisco's son is Efren's godson, Theyre really tight friends/family
@@jmgonzales7701 Pool and Snooker are chess games played on felt just as baseball is played on grass. While not mandatory physical condition is a factor but contact is left to other sporting competitions. I like your thought but these games are what they are and can be played by just about anyone and maybe that’s as it should be.
To everyone asking WHY it was an ILLEGAL BREAK: In some tournaments, a certain number of balls have to cross the head-line. The head-line is that line on the breaking end of the table that defines where "the kitchen" is. Only two balls crossed the head-line, and more than that many were required.
@@patrickodonnell7111 That's called a "push out." In 9 ball, you can shoot a "push out" on the first shot after the break. You can do almost anything on a push out, except knock the cue ball off the table, or pocket the cue ball - you don't have to hit any ball, but you can hit any ball. After the push out, the opposing player can choose to take the shot, or pass it back.
how come when they are lining up there shots it looks like they are going to hit the bottom of the cue ball but as they pull back they rock the stick up when they go forward instead of just pulling the stick straight back and forward
Efren is that one nice grandpa that would come up with creative excuses to your parents so they couldn't stop you from going outside with your friends to play.
Pool will never play to the masses until we get the excitement into the game like this. The crowd has to be allowed into it,the announcers' have to be like Hockey, Football etc. This match had it all.
Man I love these two legendary pool 🎱 players. If Michael Jordan is called the "Black Jesus" of basketball. Then, Efren is considered the "Brown Jesus" of pool 🎱 table
Philippines are happy people but when it comes to business there faces tell a different story...look at all the legends Reyes,Bustamante,Manny pacquiao etc
Eften is good, but Django is playing flawless here! No matter in safety shot, snooker escape, counter safe, potting, recovery shot, everything is just so perfect 💪
Efren actually plays way better when he's playing singles,i think he was being more careful, this made bustamante a better player ,no doubt bustamante is a great player, his(efren) only nemesis is himself....
I asked an old timer who was quite good at billiards, "what's the secret"? He said come here and take a look at the table. What do you see? I said well I see a table, and some colored balls....what else is there? He then told me this...." On any good billiards table setup, there are 3 bulbs in the overhead candelabra, that make 3 light reflections on each ball. Down each side of the table are 3 pockets, and in between the pockets are 3 diamonds or sights." As he said it, I "saw it". Holy cow. My game was instantly elevated. After that I learned proper stance and stroke(swing from the elbow, not the shoulder). I started playing with english, speed and masse. Left, right, follow and draw. Proper way to groom the felt tip and chalking. And I eventually realized that there was a geometrical way of "measuring" every kind of shot, and started using the mirror ball and mirror pocket concept along with the light reflections. On straight shots. Cut shots. Bank shots. Backskuttle shots. Combo shots. Run the rail shots. It is really all right there for all to "see."
as a snooker/pool player, the pockets on 9 ball tables are huge, but yea efren is a legend, the shots he pulls off are amazing, and done with much skill.
I would have beaten atleast one of these pros in my good days in Blackwell Job Corps 1999-2000. Played with lots of good players and won many tournaments. Missed those days.
