I thought that Allaphillpe and Fulgsang will decide the winner of the race but that last 6km from MVDP was crazy.....he push whole peleton with him and caought those two in front and was abele to sprint to victroy.......I also thought that that what he did in Flandres was epic but this today is eavan more epic......Congrats to MVDP 👏

This was fixed. They threw the race. They literally waited for the chasing group to catch them. The were 54 sec up w/ 1.4 km to go. I am not buying it.

@Christy Dolan I don't care about doping because I think that most of the peleton are using doping and agin it comes down to training and talent......but I agree that they are amzing this spring

It's like Eurosport has two different people editing the highlights on different days of the week: one guy who loves cycling and edits highlights in order to make the best 10+ minute highlight videos, and one intern who couldn't give less of a damn about cycling and wants to get home asap and rushes the highlights into unorganized crappy snippet videos (like in this case)

Johannes Very bad coverage too,a man closes 1 min in 6km and we only really see them come into view in the final straight.Closing a gap that big on those roads with a diminished group does not happen in cycling how did they miss so much of the MVDP pulling on the front of the race.

The best thing about how Van der Poel races (attacking early etc) is that he forces all the other favorites to do something as well. Every race Van der Poel competes in is super exciting to watch because nobody can wait until the last 5k to show their legs. Even in this Amstel Gold when the last 5k was complete wonderful chaos, the race was broken open 40km before that and every contender was on the ropes when the final kilometers approached

Riders like Van Der POEL are exactly that cycling needs. Strong,fast, clever, also brave with fantasy. Fugslag did the best. Excellent Alaphilippe but at the end did the classic mistake.

It's more like: best in cyclocross, 2nd in MTB Cross Country (only Nino was better at the World Cup 2018; Mathieu got a bronze medal at the World Championships) and now also winning classic road races.

Van der poel is going to dominate XCO races this season. It depends on the road cycling world championship track, but he has already won the Cyclocross world championship this year, he is in my eyes the favourite for Cross Country MTB World Championships and Road if its not a pure climbers race why not.

Can someone help me? I'm starting to get more into cycling lately. I wasn't able to watch this race, so I searched for a highlight and I get this. I saw that Armstrong said that this was the most insane finish he had ever seen. Can someone explain to me why exactly? I know some things; MVDP just got on road. He came from a long way. Is was an insane Sprint. Was there something more in play? I wish this highlight could be over 10+ minutes long... But unfortunately it isnt

You need to see the last 25 km at least. Knowledge of tactics/drafting and all that is essential to fully comprehend what goes on in these situations, thats why the likes of Armstrong "get it". I agree its the greatest win Ive ever seen. I watched every cyclocross and road race footage available for the last few years and knew Van der Poel is a Legend in the making.

Cav had a helluva tough choice in 2016, whether to continue in the TdFrance or to abandon so he could concentrate on winning an Olympic medal later that year....He chose to abandon the TdF with 5 stages remaining and went on to win an Olympic silver in the omnium....Perhaps if he'd stayed in the TdF he'd have notched up another few stage wins AND then gone on to win his Olympic medal too, but we'll never know....But if he beats Merck's record it'll give him bragging rights for life because not many riders can say "I beat Eddy Merckx"..:)
