To be fair when he discouraged agriculture, he reminded me of the theory that farming is the cause of most of our problems as humans, including mental health issues, most diseases, substance abuse and other stuff. Does anybody know if it's still present as a theory?
Technically yes but that’s like saying (something that made us here today) caused all our problems because yes it did start the how we got these problems but it didn’t actually start them like if we didn’t have agriculture we would have a whole ton of other problems

This is surprisingly tame. In my first try I first canceled the abolition of slavery, followed by denying voting rights to women, which eventually caused the revokation of all rights to women, the religious legalization of polygamy, and the introduction of a women-only caste system to determine every woman's place in society depending on physical traits. Then I kinda made medicine heresy which caused humanity to be eradicated by the spanish flu in 1918. On the plus side, there was never a world war^^
I played this game several times. In my latest I made Buddhism basically replace christianity, have the Buddhist HRE, gave the Europians a very early taste of colonialism when they went on the 1st crusade to conquer India, gave Genghis Khan the motivation to devastate Europe until China stabbed Mongolia in the back, made the Great Schism be Buddhists not Christians, had Magellan find Antarctica, made Hamlet about forgiveness stopping the British Civil War, made the American Revolution diplomatic instead of military, had Napolen be diplomatic, and allowed the Ottomans to make peace with the Byzantines. Then russia became communist and took over the planet for communism, allowing amazing things such as Video Game consoles in 1959.

If France conquers England in 1315, that ensures an independent Scotland, especially since the Battle of Bannockburn happened the year prior, and was the battle that pretty much decided that war, along with France and Scotland being friends means France would be nice to Scotland. Scotland is 100% independent in that time line.

From my experience the game isn’t that good and sometimes decisions that seem good just turn out to be horribly wrong like giving them cordless phones early starts like a space war?

The easiest way to destroy humanity in this game is to prevent any development and if possible, cause people to die by treating diseases before people can learn how to treat diseases. Also, the game can continue even if you destroy humanity, since it gives you a set number of turns instead of ending when everyone dies.

By focusing the Renaissance on the future rather than the past, I was able to: have man set foot on the moon in 1870, have the first plane take flight in 1445, and discover extraterrestrial life in 1957. By having Hamlet be about forgiveness, I somehow ended the English Civil War, and by having Rome look at itself rather than outward expansion, I somehow created peace between America and Russia, albeit with Russia taking the Al Qaeda attack in 2001 at the Kremlin. I finished the game with +30K karma. Pretty impressed.
Just discovered this and playing around with it for about five minutes I've managed to make the Roman Empire conquer China and united western and eastern faiths into one, Jesus is a prophet of Buddha and has made a pilgrimage to India, the united faith has a schism and Buddhists flee en masse to America among many other wild events. I love this game, lmao.
