The biggest difference from other long running anime is that it's still good. We're in one of the best arcs of the story right now.

Having recently started watching One Piece as an almost 40-year-old adult, I can confirm it rejuvenates you and makes you feel like a kid again. I adore this show!

The beauty of One Piece is that it has sooo much heart put into its wonderful cast of characters (main and side charaters), the different themes and the grandness of the story, where every little part is so delicately interconnected. It has arguibly the best world building in anime/manga and one of the best throughout all media forms. There's so much fun and adventure, lots of laughter but also lots of pain and tears. Its a story that made me laugh and cry the most. One Piece is history in the making and now is the best time to join the adventure as the manga is probably going to come to its end in less than 2 years so you'd be there in time to witness the ending of this 25+ years long epic story live. (well, no pressure to catch up though, just enjoy it at your own pace ;)

Simply put, it's one of the best stories EVER told, not just in manga/anime, but in any form of media out there! Incredible cast with powerful backstories and unique point of views, fantastic world and worldbuilding with a great social commentary and one of the best power systems. To this day when One Piece is entering its final Saga its still delivering on every aspect with chapters breaking the internet almost every other week and the Anime is catching up with this week's episode adapting one of the most insane transformations in anime history and a pivotal moment In the story

im so glad because a lot of people get scared to start one piece because its too long. i never started a show with ‘when will i catch up?!’ in my mind, so i wasn’t pressured to finish/speedrun the show. and it turned out to be my favorite anime:)

13-24 is needed ASAP Those OPs are definitely better. 1-12 is more nostalgic. Also, OP 12, the first half isn't filler or cannon, I just the studio animating the Manga cover pages. The 2nd half is what actually pertains to the arc at that time. Show/manga is top tier. Masterpiece level. Once you're drawn in, you will never put it down until it ends or you die before it ends. Another thing, the length is it's strength, when I was 100 episodes away from being caught up, I had this daunting feeling of loss... like the thought of not being able to binge another few hundred episodes started to depress me for real lol. Many feel that on their OP journey. I suggest giving it a watch soon, the current arc is about to break the internet tomorrow... meaning it's going really strong even after a thousand plus episodes

Also the author confirmed it will be something other than "the friends we made along the way."

Started watching in 1999 and only background about the show I have back then was Oda already know the ending so I assumed it would end about a year or two. Now I'm 42, married and have 2 kids and it is still going. Yes as you said, watching it progress like this and as I mature is so sweet. My advice for new viewers is don't be afraid of the episodes and consider yourselves lucky that you are able to binge unlike us back then we experienced the dread of waiting weekly. One Piece is a slow burn and world building anime and that's what in my opinion surpassed other anime I watched. Enjoy your journey.

I like how in the last OP, guy in the middle said "I'd skip this arc.." Considering, the rest of that was for Marineford, which is widely considered the best arc of the entire show.

So, i would definitely recommend you guys to watch it. Especially, right now - because the current arc will definitely break the internet aaand yeah. My absolute favourite “soundtrack” is a theme of a character named Katakuri. OP is just one of anime’s that I don’t have really critics. Only after 800 episode, it’s gotta a little slow , because it’s also the beautiful one, it’s happening too much ^^ I also would recommend you a video for reaction ,named “The Breathtaking World of One Piece” . Oda would never let anyone "take over" the story. He is really strict on everything that's been and being created/adapted from his manga. Even Netflix had to follow a lot of orders from Oda, so that the adaptation series could be greenlit. The manga won't be continued by anyone else than himself, something that keeps it fresh and "on the top". The story is his artwork and anyone else taking over would ruin the authenticity.

This is what i say to people who say they can't watch one piece since its too long: The fact that the manga and anime have been around since the late 90s..and it has 1,072 episodes? That should tell you something! Its just that good! I believe i binged until the Dressrosa arc is where i finally caught up years ago. My husband introduced me to this when we first started dating(technically anime in general) and i was HOOKED. The pirate life was always fascinating to me growing up. Each episode is so worth it! ❤

The creator of one piece already had the ending planned out before he even started the manga, it was a story he was working on basically his whole life.

Dude on the right is going to LOVE one piece, the fact that this story not only has a developed mapped out world but also an intricate history makes this world feel actually alive. The only thing I can compare the world building to is Lord of the Rings, but even One Piece is deeper.

oda has stated that the one piece is a real treasure not "just" friendship, (although friendship is the most valuable treasure there is)

It's been 20 years since I started the show and I love it more as time passes. My favorite thing is that after so long, it still surprises me on a week to week basis. If I had to criticise something it would be that Oda does an amazing job making unique characters but the "pretty" female ones look very similar.

Honestly, One Piece has probably the best overall story and most cohesive Worldbuilding of any long-running manga. Don't worry about the amount of Episodes - You aren't in a marathon. Just enjoy it at your own pace. Read it, Watch it, watch One Pace's Edit, however you want to do it. But don't stop yourself from finding an absolutely amazing series that millions have fallen in love with just because it has a lot of story to tell. And it IS going to end soon. It's entered it's final saga, and is ramping up like crazy. It's been a long journey, but you can actually track Luffy's journey and his growth and it has been astounding.

The best thing about One Piece is how big the world is and Oda's seemingly boundless imagination. Just in this current arc we have dinosaurs, dragons, ninja, samurai, cyborgs, secret agents, two different races of insane power. There are no limitations and it still feels coherent. Second best is the heart and soul in everything. OP will make you cry repeatedly over a ship, make you teary eyed to see the most stereotypical drag queen in anime return and start rooting for an actual clown. Third best for me is the insanely good balance between seriousness and at times whacky humour. At heart our main character is just a guy who wants to be free and have fun with his friends. That means even in the midst of battle he tries new attacks and other ideas and sometmes it looks stupid as hell and takes the seriousness out of an otherwise very dry shonen fight. Every crewmember has a sort of dark past that shaped them but they all also have their humorous quirks. There are things to critizes, the anime's pacing can get VERY slow at times (the disadvantages of not being a seasonal anime). Oda uses fake out deaths too often and he could use a little bit more variety in the appearance of his female characters. But the pro's far outweigh the con's.

To describe One Piece, one could say many things. But I always think of an anime from my childhood (early 1980's) which related the Odyssey of Ulysses but in the 31st century, and which ended with this conversation between the protagonists: "It was a very strange journey" "Yes, a beautiful journey". One Piece is the Odyssey of the 21st century.

Just a heads up, most of the friendly animals you sere in those openings are just for that. They mostly don't actually appear in the show itself.

what the one piece likely is, is a massive spoiler. to keep it spoiler free: "one piece" likely refers to the world coming together as one. if you've seen what the planet of one piece looks like, you'll understand some logistical issues with that statement. also, i find it hilarious what arc you said you'd skip. it's of paramount importance and is still said to be one of the best arcs in the series lol.

Oda said it be finishing soon about roughly about year ago he said had 5 more years. It that big it out sold Spiderman and Batman. At 28:12 that Opening is the Voice Actor's singing that from Japan.

1: The backstories, powers, storytelling, and of course, the world building. 2: IDK much about soundtrack, but maybe "Drums of Liberation" (I don't really encourage you to listen to it because it contains spoilers) 3: Favorite characters: Trafalgar Law, Sir Crocodile, and Sanji. Favorite episodes: Idk the exact episode numbers so I won't include this. 4: The pacing of the show is horrible, terrible, atrocious. The pacing is pretty much the only really bad thing about the show. If you have enough patience you will really enjoy the show. (The pacing doesn't ruin the show, is just a negative point. It isn't unwatchable because of the pacing.) 5: Maybe the "Black Clover" openings. Most of them are really really good.

My prediction is that the One Piece is a literal one-piece swimsuit. The pattern on it is a map leading to the *real* treasure.

A new op opening drops tomorrow so I believe yall should wait until that opening comes out them react to the rest of the openings

Highly recommend Monster, it has one OP that stays the same over 74 episodes. Really good psychological mystery thriller, there's quite a few channels currently watching it now. Great OP

All the soundtrack is SO good. Well, one of my favorite characters is Buggy, and if you watch one piece, you would know him soon, in 4 o 5 episodes. When we first meet Buggy, he looks like someone to be feared and you soon realize that he's a lot dumber than you imagine. However, as the story goes on, he becomes so important and participates in such important things that it's AWESOME. He is the luckiest pirate in history. That's why he's my favorite, not counting Luffy, of course.

dude in the middle was 100% correct one piece is called one of the " big 3 " but it far outsells both naruto and bleach they dont even come close in sales. hell one piece even beat dragon ball in sales and its so popular now that its become the 2nd best selling COMIC of all time and by comic i mean all comics including western superhero comics it beat spiderman and batman in sales and is only 90 million sales away from tying with superman. it really is in a league of its own. one piece succeeds where most shounens fall off every arc just gets better and better there are no bad arcs like the other 2 or dragon ball having a crappy series like GT. some ppl think dragon ball is still the king of anime but one piece surpassed it a long long time ago.

One piece is supposed to be ending in the next three years, which I imagine it'll actually be about five years since that's usually how it goes when Oda gives us a timeline, but either way it's drawing to a close far faster than I'm comfortable with.
