Zoro straightforward lied. He didn't know/assume anything about Nami's personality or her past, and he drinks on such a regular basis that those few shots he has to drink when he's wrong don't bother him at all. He just wanted to make her talk about herself, and that was so perfect of him. Love him and the combo of them together

They could totally make a whole episode of the crew just, like chilling together like this and I'd watch the hell out of it

I really love this moment with Zoro and Nami setting up their friendship, so well, thank you writers

It’s just a great scene, whether you ship them or not. It’s just a quiet moment of them talking and opening up to each other...something I feel we don’t get often enough, even in the manga. The bonds between the strawhats are so important, and scenes like this are vital in establishing them.

I love that they put these interactions into the series which wasn't there in the manga/anime..something fresh for old fans

love this scene. the overall vibe, the dialogue, the eye contact, the vulnerabilty, just everything about it. mackenyu and emily had great chemistry and it translated very well onto the screen as nami and zoro, props to them. whether you ship the characters or not, it's just a really good scene.

Idk if anyone caught this, but I believe Zoro intentionally said he knew more abt her by throwing out random guesses in order for Nami to correct him and telling him more abt herself.

If I hadn't read the manga I'd think they were endgame in the live action, their chemistry was oooof

I absolutely love this scene, hands down one of my favorites. Nami and Zoro might not be a 'thing', but these two got so much chemistry and tension that if ppl didnt know One Piece, they'd think they will be a couple 😂 Especially with Zoro taking the initiative to ask what burden she had, saying he knows her a lot, and starting the game? God I love this version of Zoro, they knew how to use Mackenyu quite well

The way Zoro smooth talked Nami into it was very cool! Its surprising how they showed chemistry because their mature personalities were more serious in real-life AND both demoralized and simply agreeing at end was sweet!

I love that this scene does what the anime and manga do not. These two Strawhats were in it since the very beginning, and they have such an incredible bond. The anime and manga don't show the Zoro-Nami friendship much (as compared to something like Nami-Usopp), and I'm happy that the LA is going through efforts to establish that. It introduced me to a similarity that I never picked up on from the other two sources, that Zoro and Nami have both grown up very lonely and are accustomed to putting up a tough front, so of course they'd bond over that.

I absolutely respect them not putting romance between any crew members (despite my own shipping agenda 😂) - but even without that, I’m looking forward to more scenes between them! The chemistry is so good, and as Luffy’s two oldest crew mates, it makes sense they’d have their own bond. I’ll take drinking buddies who rag on each other any day 🙌

it´s intriguing how in the same episode we see how zoro has a hard time with relasionships and conversantions when he couldnt talk with luffy we also see him reaching out to nami, wanting to understand and talk to her.

Even their subtler hints also precious, like how Zoro gives his 1st smile in LA to Nami, how the director twice shown Zoro's reaction 1st among other crews when Nojiko talked w/ them in front of her house, how Nami canceled her 1st attempt at leaving literally bcuz of Zoro, how for Zoro the idea of Nami leaving is so absurd that he called it "the strangest (-est)" dream he ever had, etc.

I remember the Nami and Zoro tension/conflict at the start of the anime and having all the same thoughts the OPLA fans are having now.

Ah I really love their chemistry and interaction in the live action. Oda once again emphasizes that there must be no romance among the strawhats, but tbh I enjoy this kind of interaction more. It's up to the watchers to ship them or not.

Nami and Zoro in Live action are the first crew. They have responsibilities to hold the team together. They need to bond and have the talk since their captain is a handful one. This scene make so much sense. But actor delivery elevate it into something that casual watcher could misunderstand. But im happy for it. They are naturally matched, from complimentary color scheme to complimentary charachter. Also in the manga, nami is the only weaker being zoro allows to order him around.

There's a fine line between just teasing and flirting, I don't know what direction Emily and Mackenyu were given here but I don't buy that the producer of the show didn't intend to be ambiguous (Oda is a different story since he's been adamant about no romance). Netflix knows they get a lot of clout from shipping factions and will utilize everything to pique people's interest. I'm just glad in this case that it felt natural and that they are building on *all* bonds between the main trio not just Luffy. To me Zoro and Nami being connected as well makes their crew so much sweeter than if Luffy was just the bridge. And this moment gives a silent maturity vibe that they wouldn't be able to to really have with Luffy, Usopp even Sanji... it makes sense.

I know they won't be a thing, but the chemistry these two have is off the charts. I really hope they'll keep having these little scenes from time to time because Nami and Zoro had fewer and fewer interactions as the manga/anime progressed. So hopefully, the writers utilize the chemistry that they have.

this was an unexpected but quite enjoyable addition to the series, if intentional by Zoro or not it was a way for them to try to get to know each other without overly indulging in their pasts.

Ok so I didn’t know much about One Piece prior to this live action and didn’t have any expectations at all. But this series was so good that I ended up being sucked in and binging the whole thing. And if I never read the comments section, I would have thought that these two would somehow end up later in the series. The chemistry between these two is just off the charts that I thought it was intentional! Looking forward to Season 2 🔥

Personally, this is one of my favourite scenes that came out from the live action version (watched the anime). I will admit I don't remember everything from the East Blue Saga but it was nice to give us a proper bonding scene which was rare in the anime than just they started to work together in a few episodes!

Its scenes like this why the live action One Piece worked. Its a scene not taken from the source material, and couldn't have existed in it because of how it'd effect pacing, but it feels like it could have.

so happy to see the cast having great chemistry! It's easy to believe that these characters truly are friends, the actors seem to get along well even offscreen so that translates well into their scenes. it's so easy to ship the characters romantically because of that, but i honestly the platonic love between them all!

This was one of my favourite changes in this live action! It just did a great job of fleshing out their bond and how they trust each other to share their secrets.

The intreaction between the crew are the best part of the live action for us old fans. the emotion when done right just feels differentn on live action.

If you watch his previous roles, you can see how he acts differently here and in each of his role. This man really has a passion for acting.

i know that Zoro was just trying to fish some information from nami... but brooo the way how Emily and Kenyu deliver this scene, I can feel the chemistry. Like he can lie y'know but he's also opening up, sharing some secrets about his life. Both showing their vulnerability.

It is totally understandable why only live action watchers are shipping them..... the chemistry is off the charts !!!!

I really like Nami and Zoro's dynamic because so much of it is unspoken. They don't need to explain themselves to each other; they just instinctively "get" the other person. And they'll have each other's backs no matter what, but they'll never admit it. There's no word that accurately captures their relationship- friends, siblings, acquaintances, coworkers, crewmates- somehow they're a little bit of all of those things but also none of them at the same time. And no, I do not ship them, they have a cool dynamic but never really got those vibes from them.

I really appreciated those scenes, I think Nami and Zoro have such a great chemistry in the anime and manga and in some ways they are just the same person especially with their vulgar mouths. And to see these scenes of friendship in the live action was just amazing and wholesome as hell! (Also loved the one of nami and Kaya and when nami said she never lost anyone close to her- ufffff!) Edit: it’s nice to have these chill vibes and waves of nostalgia, just them hanging around and stuff, but also sincere scenes between crew members like that! i muss that. I mean I know why it’s not happening as much and of course i love what’s happening in the story ;) but that is the special charm of pretimeskip and the live action did add to it which I love! Hope to see more with even more crew members in the second season!

"what are you carrying around that's so heavy?" The only thing he guess right about nami, so he started this game and make Nami spill what's the burden. His plan works, but he has no idea that it was the burden. "I bet you have no friends when you grew up." "I have one friend" In return, Nami also guessed Zoro's secret. So this scene showing that each of them able to read people (or at least understand each other) on a deep level. Great scene for showing characteristics, And a gold mine for shippers 😂 i mean when you meet someone just for few days but able to guess each other's deepest secret, you know you understand each other naturally.

The colors in the background of zoro are green blue yellow these go well with his hair color, same Nami has these red orb colors in her background and to mesh with her orange hair I think this scene is well put together
