My dad and friends met Thorpe in the late 30's outside a beer hall in central Oklahoma. He was feeling no pain, but was courteous to his young fans. A great moment for my dad. He loved Thorpe.

Buster Keaton was known for his kindness and this is one of his best moments. He had a heart of gold, God Bless him.

Thorpe and Keaton's greatness will be appreciated a lot longer than ESPN.

@Jon Wills I said both Keaton and Jim Thrope were great. Both men were heroes of mine as a boy growing up. Sorry if I somehow offended you, or you thought that remark was dumb of me. Signed, Confused.

If Buster had still had his own studio he'd have given Jim full time work. Buster loved to hire baseball players to work on his crew because he loved having somebody to play with to break the creative blocks he and his team would get sometimes.

thorpe lived later in his life (and eventually died) right near my house in the town of lomita, just outside of L.A. R.I.P. Thorpe and Keaton.

jim thorpe is the greatest ever, and that includes michael jordan, babe ruth, and everyone else. when he completed in the 1912 olympics, he wasn't even considered a citizen of the US.another injustice the the american indian.

Come visit Jim Thorpe, PA and visit his grave. And find the whole story on how and why a town would change it's name over someone it had nothing to do with, just to claim his gravesite.

the film "rolls" may not be credited, what about the roles? from the I-net: "The words roll and role are homophones, which means they sound alike but have different meanings. Roll has many denotations, primarily involving spinning or moving, while role means just one thing: The part you play in a movie or a play or, by extension, your function in any other activity."

Buster Keaton gave employment to at least one other Native American...his special effects man Fred Gabouri was, I believe, a Seneca. According to his sister, the Keaton family was also part Native American. (Buster probably hired for talent, regardless of background).

@athleteman12 McGraw may have indeed been biased but it is probably not fair to say he didn't play him simply because he was Indian. The Giants were a loaded team at and one of the best teams in baseball. In truth McGraw did not need Thorpe. Both had very strong personalities and never got along. Thorpe would have been better to sign with another team.

Great video, but are there any other videos of Thorpe in existence? Especially in athletic competitions.

His work is to be taken in concert- he was an Olympian, a football player, and a baseball player. His Olympic work or 15 events that made up the pentathlon and the decathlon. So, when supporters speak of Thorpe, they speak of his all-around athletic ability. I personally think his time in Baseball was his least impressive work- BUT he was two sport athlete AND an Olympic medal winner- although, the IOC doesn't recognize him winning them because he got paid in minor league games- but he still won

I'm going to try my best to not sound ignorant here. I've heard of great things this man has done. And it seems that him and Bo Jackson are along the most mentioned athletes titled "greatest athlete" of all time. As a baseball guy I dont see how the greatest hit one homerun and scored 13 runs in 120 games. That's not good at all. Im sure there's a lot im missing here but, shit. That's not impressive at all
