There’s a big misconception about what you can do with acrylics which is usually based around the drying time. But in reality you can create some wonderful effects and employ traditional oil painting techniques

Thanks for showing us acrylic can blend just as nicely...I adapted my style to work within the confines of acrylics crayon like nature...but this give me hope for realism 🏆

Some people use special mediums with acrylics to make the paint glossier or dry slower but that can be more work than painting in this way.

Omg! This is amazing! I am getting back into art. I have stopped for about 16 years and I have never painted before. I tried using water colour paints but it’s not for me when painting faces. I think acrylic paints are my preferred option but I will find a way to incorporate watercolours into my acrylic work or keep them for fashion illustrations. I don’t think that I will be this good right away but this gives me hope!

Wow man. Your work is just awesome. I have just recently moved from working with only airbrush. Just trying new things. And ive found your channels to be very informative. Going from an airbrush to a brush whether it be oils or acrylics is like night and day. I think I like oil better than acrylics but I'm still going to work on getting better. Hi Renso, it was nice having your video play while I worked on commissioned pet portraits, which I've been procrastinating on up to this point. I personally enjoy using Phthalo Blue to darken and cool down my colors, very little is needed and the life of the painting is not compromised. I've used black too though and as you've shown in your beautiful work, it's certainly not the color killer people claim it to be, it simply needs to be used with reservation. Great video, thank you for posting!

After my sons came of age, to go to school, I got back into painting again. I could afford acrylics and so I just decided to try and paint as I did oils. I actually liked them a lot, and I could blend and shade without feeling hurried for time before they dried. I enjoy seeing how you paint with them and the excellent results in the blending! Thank you, You are a very innately talented artist! I am benefitting learning how to begin sketching out the subject’s face & placement in perspective for a portrait painting.
