This is the BEST counter-balancing advice to "Find a dark background." I've seen many compositions thrown off by highlights that sit near the edges. After seeing this, everything makes more sense. Thanks Pi!

I don‘t understand why the faces of the couple aren‘t much darker in front of the bright sky.
@tysonp5245
@tysonp5245 2 года назад
I assume it's b/c he exposed for them & let the sky be blown out. That way the file will retain some of the blown out background, but huge amounts of info on their faces.

such a cool tutorial... was you intent to keep the background blown out so you wouldn't see the hotel ? My understanding was to expose for ambient lite and then use HHS .. Is this wrong to do it this way.

Hi! Thanks for the video! When I create the radial filter I always have to invert it to get the dark area on the outside of the photo. Is there a way to set it so it always starts that way?

When using Capture One I invert a mask with a luminance curve and you can pinpoint exactly where your bright points are and can’t tell if flash is added.

I’m going to ask a dumb question. Is this Lightroom classic or just Lightroom? I started out in photography taking photos on my iPhone and using Lightroom mobile to edit. So when I moved from the phone to my laptop I downloaded Lightroom but not the classic version and I’ve noticed everyone else’s Lightroom seems to look different than mine. I’ve made sure I’ve updated both anytime it’s available but even then I still can’t find the new masking tools. Any suggestions on which one I should be using? Lightroom or Lightroom classic
