This is an area of Taekwondo that Taekwondo would like to learn more about. For example - look at 0:41. That arm-bar is ridiculous (the only reason someone would be in trouble is if they were unconscious). Also most of the other techniques require your opponent to be a motionless rag-doll. I am a TKD black belt with 26 years experience. But when I first went to a BJJ class, the only people my TKD takedowns would work on were smaller white belts with no confidence. Anyone who actually resisted? Forget it. My suggestion if you want to work on takedowns and ground game, try BJJ, Judo or Hapkido. Taekwondo still rules for everything else though. :D
Also TKD black belt only 20 yrs experience. Most of the take downs you see in one step sparring are watered down versions of their Judo counterparts. A lot has to do with how you practice. We do open one step sparring, meaning attacks are not predetermined and resistance is encouraged basically real martial arts sparring while focusing on a single defensive technique. I feel you though a lot of one step sparring is ridiculous :D
@@treylough8160 i hope you can see this i want to ask one question when will you learn one step movements such as in the video? cuz i really want to know and i really want to learn them just looks so cool altho may not be as effective as learning judo itself, i can atleast learn something other than just kicking and punching cuz for me i dont know why but grappling martial arts such as judo and wrestling are just cool to watch and i just want to learn them so badly but i dont know where to start i mean i have watched youtube and others vids but i want a complete detailed explaination and unfortunately i cant find dojo and gyms nearby me but yea back to the question when will i be able to learn one step in tkd? thank you and im so sorry for the long message
Impressive techniques and great takedowns in taekwondo I really wish I could have stayed in karate so I can learn to use to but take down so overpower and also overpower my opponent many times over and take them down hard in fast especially when they have a gun if you're not too careful but that's actually a pretty good takedown that you guys learned in taekwondo 🥋👊😉👍🥋
