Join me on a week in the life of my wet set hair. In this week I tried some new hairstyles, as well as different methods for setting my curls at night to keep them looking good every day!
My hair routine is ever changing, but I hope you were able to find some interesting and valuable information from my little experiment. I know I sure learned some things!
I am not a professional at vintage hair styling, and these new styles were pretty quick and easy and with a little practice could totally be done by beginners!
I have super duper fine hair which won't hold a curl to save its life, so if these curling methods are working for me, I feel like they will work for anybody!

If you’re looking for a setting lotion, try a homemade flax lotion! It’s quick to make, cheap, no crunch/flakey but helps the hair hold! I use 1tsp of flax seed + 1 cup water. Bring to a boil, boil for 6 minutes until it thickens a bit. Lasts a week in the fridge. I’ve made this for months now! It’s my favourite!

Thanks for the tip! I love a good DIY! I just got myself a bottle of Lottabody setting lotion but because I'm in Australia it's hard to get. I'm going to try this recipe for sure!

This was so creative! The piling on top overnight is so simple but so smart! I can never make it past a 3 day, so I'll try some of these now!! Lotta body has a foaming pump dispenser style bottle that I find is much easier to use than the mixing and spraying methods. You can also just make some if you gave flaxseed at home and see how that worka

I never thought of using a hair net. I have kinky curly hair and the brush out may be bomb but then my hair will revert at the smallest bit of humidity 😂

Hairnets are the actual best!! You can even find super cute vintage ones in their original packaging on ebay and etsy!

I use lotta body setting lotion I got a huge jug of it at sally beauty and put it in my spray bottle diluted with water and it’s lasted a long time and it’s pretty good 👍🏻

All that work setting your hair, back combing & styling! Just go to the local cosmetology school $10- ask for a senior student for a wet set & styled . Instructor are on the floor to help out. Relax and get your hair done stress free! Bring your own hair gel, the schools is water down.

It's definitely an art form to keep them in! It's taken me quite a lot of trial and error 😂 still a lot of error haha.

Maybe avoid the conditioner. I stopped using conditioner because it makes my hair too smooth. I need the grip for my hair to hold better. I need to look into hair conditioner in the olden days, but I doubt they used any. Frizz would have been smoothed with pomade or hair spray anyway?!
