It's hard to believe we've been on the farm for a year! We've been so busy that filiming and uploading videos has fallen by the wayside. But we're still homesteading and still happy! Hopefully you will enjoy this update despite the sketchy audio quality and barking dogs.

Backstory:
Michel and Rhonda made a decision in 2020 to break from their "legacy brand" home countries (France and the U.S.) and settle in Central America. We chose Costa Rica because of its microclimates, environmental awareness, developing infrastructure, as well as its political stability and modern private healthcare system. It seemed like a good place to re-imagine our lives away from urban chaos and the stress of nine-to-five demands. So we bought a 14-meter transit bus and began converting it to a tiny home on wheels, which we live in full time in the mountains near the Miravalles Volcano. We make these videos and share them with the world in hopes that people will enjoy this beautiful land through our everyday experiences. Our animals are frequently in front of the lens; they are all rescues, some from the U.S., some from Morocco, and some from right here in Costa Rica. We love them all very much and they are part of our family.
For you conservationists out there, the sloth in the intro was being attacked by a pack of stray dogs that had him surrounded. We chased away the dogs and helped the sloth back to a tree. Our interventions with wild animals are minimal, but in this case, it was absolutely necessary. As far as we know, the sloth is alive and well today.

What a beautiful property you have guys. We also set our place up using the german hugel kulture method. It's worked very well as we have a similar climate here on the south eastern coast of Queensland Australia. 🌿

Thank you! We love it here. And yep, hugelkultur is the only way to go here, other than a greenhouse, which we are also building this next year for some vertical aeroponics.

Ruth, we absolutely love it! God has blessed us beyond measure. You can see in the video where I still, after all these months, just stand in the yard looking out over the land and can't believe it's ours.

My comments: 1.Overall, it's just paradise. 2.Where's Princess, Milo, Tori & Michel? 3. Who's the bird with the blue head, Esther or Lollie? 4. Where are the cats?

Princess, Milo, and Tori were all piled up inside on the bed during this video. LOLOL I knew someone would ask about them, and I actually filmed them just "because," but the video ran so long that I ended up not including that clip. Michel, on the other hand, is there at the end being chased by the parrots. 😂😂😂 Lollie ended up biting him pretty hard that day. LOL She is the one with the turquoise head feathers. They are very bright and visible in direct sunlight. She is clearly a mix of sub-species. Esther, on the other hand, is pure yellow nape. Now, the cats... ? Well, they are definitely around. On the kitchen counters, mostly, knocking stuff on the floor. Or in my chair, refusing to move so I can sit down. There is also the rabbit, who would be hopping around the house somewhere. I keep meaning to get pics and video of him, but I never seem to think about it.

You guys are in Guanacaste? How is the climate at your homestead? I’m moving from Coco to Turrialba in a few weeks. Hoping to eventually buy land after living here for a year or 2. I’d love protected land.

We almost bought land near Turrialba a couple of years ago, in a small community called Esperanza. We have many videos uploaded that were filmed there! The climate here near Miravalles is very mild. I can get hot during the dry season, but not like at the beach. Rainfall here is very heavy, much the same as it is near Turrialba. The property across the road from us is, hands down, the best large parcel we've seen since we've been in CR. Did you see the video of it?
