"You couldn't have one without the other" Yes! I always think of it as Onew's voice is the earth and Jonghyun's is the sky. Individually their voices are perfect but when they sing together, it's magic.
This performance of "Please Don't Go" was from their SHINee World Concert V (SWC5) in 2016. This was the last SHINee group concert tour that Jonghyun was involved in before he died. So that is why this is such a meaningful and poignant song for Shawols. On top of being a very beautiful performance, it's almost as if Onew and Jonghyun are singing to each other, asking each other to "please don't leave," etc. which, in hindsight, breaks our hearts every time we hear them sing those lines. Jonghyun and Onew were a POWERFUL combo. As you are starting to discover, Jonghyun is one of the best vocalist in Kpop and he was an expert at conveying emotion through his songs and performance. And as a musical stage actor, Onew knows how to tell a story through music and make you feel everything. As a lead actor in several musical productions, Onew knows how to project his voice to the back of the theatre and to fill a room with each note. "Please Don't Go" is a perfect example of why they are both so highly respected for their vocal talent. That's why, even as rookies, Jonghyun and Onew were vocal coaches and mentors to a lot other artists and trainees. There is almost no group that has better harmonies and vocals than SHINee. They are one of the most well rounded groups in Kpop that excel at every aspect of the entertainment industry.
If Onew was to go back to 're song this song he would most likely have the same reaction that he did when he sang selene 6'23 with sungwa on sea of hope. He wanted to cry and run away but chose to face it instead and gave such a performance. This is one you might want to react to . Lovely reaction ladies.
Onew and Jonghyun, We call them SHINee and Shawols’ Sun and Moon. We call them JongYu together. 💕 The way each of them shift from low notes to high, soft to powerful one after another.. Pheeww

I'm so glad you did this. This performance blows me away every time I watch it. Utterly gorgeous and impeccably performed, with so much expressiveness. I think I've read that Onew has said it would be too hard to perform this again. (I have to admit that even though I only really started listening to Shinee seven months ago - through finding Jonghyun's solo work first - I can't bring myself to watch post-2017 Shinee performances of any songs Jonghyun sang with them. If Onew does decide at some point to perform this again, I don't think I'll have the courage to watch it.)

Jonghyun wrote most of shinee's songs. Each member wrote songs for the group. and as your aware Jonghyun wrote songs for many other artists. Shinee worked alot with kenzie who wrote or collaboration with members on songs. I believe kenzie wrote the song in partnership with Jonghyun but you would have to look it up to find out. They worked with so many people but Jennie was their main writer collaborator
Jonghyun was an amazing song-writer and love his composing and love his lyrics even more, but he did not write anything like *most* of Shinee songs. He has on average one credit per album, which is impressive under SM - He would have to submit the songs anonimously and win against the many many songwirter/producers from all over the world who submit songs to SM.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. This was sweet and lovely. Liked their silk shirts. The lyrics made me cry. It was powerful. I don't think it is meant to create the images in my head that it did. I just saw Onew and the others saying this to Jonghyun because sadly he did leave them. Like I know Taemin and him were really close. He was really supportive of Taemin. When they went to change and it was only the 3 others members with some friends we prayed for this song it’s from the 1st album and they sang it only once on the radio back in 2009-2010 ! But on stage it was amazing because first we hear more Jjong than it’s Onew for thé chorus and they didn’t try to over did it Jjong didn’t try to overpower Onew they matched their voices and they gave us this masterpiece !! You should react to Onew and Jjong sino gong Tragedy on the radio in 2009 I think it was after their 1st win for Juliette and it was powerful and emotional !!!!
