I’ve tried this on chrome on my laptop and keep getting Messages “this site can’t provide a secure connection”. Whenever I click on the 3rd link OTA files pint/gt & firmware

For me, this firmware downgrade will let me install a second battery on the fender to triple my pint's range for $200, instead of having to buy a longer range board like a GT.

Does it work for a new pint. I got a new one with firmware 5100 but I'd love to be able to upgrade my battery but seems like if you got 5100 there's no work around out there yet

@@withchristaloneful​​⁠On my personal Pint, I added the posi sensor patch, higher pushback threshold, and removed the BLE handshake check (so I can easily use third party apps). But…you can also add custom shaping and even change your ride modes to behave more like the XR ride modes. The full patch list can be viewed online.

@fixmypev I will buddy, I haven't got my board at the moment as I'm going to the OWAT event. It's being transported to the event by van with a friend. I'll see if I can do it before the race, if not when I get back! Is it advisable if I do it on an android phone when I'm there, or better to do it via a laptop when I'm back?

@@GUDBYE_92 Not exactly. Not without a workaround at least. You would have to spoof your board as an XR and also enable custom shaping in order to be able to do it in the app. I don't generally recommend that (because it's a bit too invasive in my opinion), but it's up to each individual rider what they would like to do. If you decide not to spoof as an XR, you can still access custom shaping via the 'Live' tab of the same site I have demonstrated in this video. My advice: Educate yourself thoroughly prior to moving forward with any firmware patches.

This does not work with Gemini - 5100+. In order for a board like that to work, you first need to have the firmware reverted (not possible via Bluetooth). After that, you can gain access to this tool. If you’d like more information on this, send us an email at www.fixmypev.com/contact-us.

Thanks for the support! Unfortunately, we're not quite there yet. The BLE commands that were compatible prior to Cassiopeia - 6132 are no longer compatible. The only way we know to level for 6153 is to do so prior to upgrading. That may change in the future, but dust is still settling on everything at this time.

You’re welcome! Unfortunately, this process was not developed for the XR prior to the project being halted. It is only compatible with the GT and OG Pint (0:28).

Hey! Sorry for the delay. You can access custom shaping and remote tilt either through the Float Remote app (iOS TestFlight) or via the FFMWheel site’s ‘Live’ tab (Android browser).

No, it won’t. No way to rewheel or level the board after the update currently, give it time and the community will eventually do its thing.

Ok so I’ve been trying to get the resource tab to actually take me to where I download the firmware. It keeps sending me to an error page

Error 16 is a BMS/Controller error and shouldn’t be related to the Top Speed setting in any way. Have you had any issues since?

Assuming you’re on a GT that has not been updated to Cassiopeia - 6153, I’d recommend skipping the digital tilt for now and applying it once you have the rails. However, if you want to take advantage of some of the firmware patches in the meantime, you certainly can.

No. This should not conflict with that. If it does for any reason, you can use nRF to level again. Or (Pro Tip) you can use Factory Mode on the ‘Live’ tab of this same web app as it includes the BLE connectivity commands. I hope this information helps!

Assuming your battery is healthy, that should be a maintainable speed. But be careful accelerating too aggressively below 50-40%.

Gemini - 5100 is not compatible with this method. In order to be compatible, a Pint bootloader has to be programmed to the microcontroller (that’s not a process that can be completed via Bluetooth). Not that I know of. The public repo was pulled when the project shut down.

So far, we have not received any reports that it is unable to be completed with newer firmware versions. However, that could change in the future; depending on what Future Motion decides to do in terms of their product design.

You technically could skip the backup process next time, but as a precautionary measure, I always recommend getting a new backup file.

Not really. Maybe a little tinkering here and there, but nothing super progressive as far as I can tell. The DMCA claim against ReWheel really took a lot of the wind out of the sails.

Yes, this can be done with Gemini - 5050. The Onewheel app may still be usable (even in a limited capacity), but it depends on which type of phone you have. For iOS, it’s usually best to use Float Remote (TestFlight). For Android, you can download an earlier version of the app via APK.

Why isn't there an option for switching Safe Stop off and on in the available third party apps like Float Remote and OWCE? I can do it from the Live tab in the video, but neither app has it as an option. I'm currently learning to ride while trying to avoid breaking bones, so I'm using the Safe Stop feature until I can figure out how to jump off of the damned board without face planting every time. lol.

@@mattr1554 Float Remote allows you to toggle Simplestop on/off. It's the icon with the circle and arrow around it. Near the light button.

Sure will! This holds true with both downgrades and updates at this time.

For iOS, you can use airplane mode or the Float Remote app (I have a video about Float Remote). For Android, I believe you have to block data and wifi from the Onewheel app or use the OWCE app. These third party apps work better if you’ve ReWheeled to ‘Remove BLE Handshake Check.’

Absolutely! Just keep in mind that you may end up getting update popups depending on which board model you have. This is because FM is currently pushing updates for the GT and will be pushing updates for the XR, Pint, and Pint X within the next six weeks. The update popup ends up blocking the rest of the functionality of the app. It's not completely unusable, but mostly unusable. Not to my knowledge. The original server removed all ReWheel content when the original project was shut down. Including content that potentially violates the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) put servers at risk of being fully shut down so I'm not sure if we'll ever see another public server for that. I'm always happy to help answer questions about it though.

​@@1and289 Ahh. I see. The firmware is actually written in a very specific way to interface with the hardware present in the GTS. So, features like Custom Shaping 3.0 (including gradient tracking) aren't able to be directly translated to the Pint. Although it may technically be possible, it would take a lot more than spoofing to be able to enable that for a device like the Pint. It would require a complete overhaul of the firmware as well as the development of a third-party app that was able to give us a UI to control everything. Basically, VESC...

@@1and289 The Pint firmware was able to be reverse-engineered enough to determine how to alter the necessary values for Custom Shaping 2.0. A similar, but more complex, undertaking would need to take place in order for the Pint to even come close to what the GT/GTS can do. And since the wind has been taken out of the sails (by Future Motion) for research and work like that to be done, it's unlikely we'll see it happen any time soon. The legal risk is too high.

Hey, Matt! The 2500 value is only compatible with the GT as the Pint isn't programmed to allow a pushback threshold higher than 2000 (~22.48 mph). Setting a value any higher than that (I've tried) errors out the firmware.

@@SCrow-ii2sn Nope. I did a small research afterward - 5100 blocks OTA updates(by air), so you cannot do it the wrong way - it just doesn't work(no backup, no firmware extraction, no ability to update ). The only option is to open the controller solder to it and flash it that way.

You’re welcome. This web app was designed to work with 5040 only. Each version of firmware is structured a bit differently which means the patches would potentially need to be written differently as well. That said, 5040 is more versatile in terms of modifications and upgrades like extended range batteries.

I applied the pint patch to a different FW version and it worked fine. I don't remember if it was an upgrade or a downgrade, but that pint ripped better than my plus till I sold it.

In theory, if you're able to find a way to properly downgrade your board, you'd be able to level and then update again if you wanted to. That said, being somebody who what it takes to do, I'm not aware of any accurate public resources that outline the process. And I can't publicize/publish anything due to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) protections.

Unfortunately, this project was halted before the XR was explored enough to be included. It is only applicable to the GT and OG Pint at this time (0:28). And it sounds like you’re on your way toward endless customizations if you’re building a VESC-based board. Super awesome! As for nRF Connect, I don’t see that ever being taken down a it’s not actually a Onewheel tool and wasn’t developed specifically for Onewheels. It’s a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) tool used for thousands of different purposes. So, you should be able to make use of that for a long time coming. Thank for the support!

Building on what fix my PEV said: NRF connect, or any other NRF app, allow the user to recalibrate the onewheel by sending command codes to the onewheel controller telling it to carry out pre-programmed routines. FM technicians are probably using the same codes when they first assemble the one wheel to set the level and pair the BMS. The only difference is they probably have a much nicer user interface. Simple buttons with clearly labeled functions rather than having to type in CACA every time. While it is unlikely that FM will be able to get NRF applications taken away from the public, we have seen them block level and BMS recalibration on newer firmware versions. It's unclear if they have changed the command for recalibration, or if they have added additional command steps after entering factory mode to authorize recalibration. Fortunately community members, such as myself, have thus far been able to use the clone website to revert higher firmware GTs back to 6109 to re-enable digital tilt. Changes to future firmware may block this firmware modification tool in the future though :(.

I tried to help two newer GT owners with wtf rails, but 6133 blocked NRF and the digital tilt app. The owners wanted to wait until they were at least out of warranty before messing with reflashing. If FM doesn't decide to do the benevolent thing and build some form of digital tilt into the new digital shaping, they might come back in a few months.

@@mechwar31 It seems there's a tilt offset option in the new custom shaping, but it's not the same thing as recalibrating the level orientation of the board as far as I can tell. Still working on absorbing all of the new information.

Doubtful. If you have previously posi’d your footpad, the deactivation delay will not operate as it normally does (reverts to dual-zone sensor). In your case, the sensor likely acts as a single zone at all times. That will still happen in the event that you attempt to apply the posi patch.

These patches aren’t specifically designed to impact the range of the boards in any way. If you’re keeping the same battery and riding in a similar manner, you should expect to maintain similar mileage to what you’re used to.

You got it! It’s just a simple power off and power back on.

I don't recommend setting it any higher than 23-24 mph or so (unless you're extremely confident with your own ability to govern your own speed). This setting does not make the board faster. It simply raises the threshold where pushback kicks in. The general rule is to take your desired MPH threshold and multiply it by 88.965. The result is the value you'd enter for your top speed value. For example, ~23 mph would be ~2046.

@@joemcclinton The default value for the GT is 1720. You can see all of the default values for all boards on the Patch tab of the web app outlined in this video or at the 14:49 timestamp of this video as well.

This depends on your original firmware. If you don’t already have 5040 firmware, you won’t be able to revert. That said, using this process, you can always install an unpatched version of the 5040 firmware.
