Love the breakdown. As someone who has been riding for years with thousands of miles under me, I learn something new or think a different way after watching each of your videos. Love it. 🤘
Dude, looks like this is 2 years old and it has just given me soo much insight (as well as going back to the foot placement video as you mention at the start of this vid). Had my Pint X just a few days and this is awesome thank you! Subscribed!
Thanks Jake. Good stuff. I'm developing my own technique. That shoulder drop for the tire side turn was a good suggestion. I'm going to have to try it.
I just started riding for the first time today and this advanced tutorial is certain to help sharpen my turns! Looking forward to receiving my GT in January to play with!
I really like the way you break down the body mechanics needed to make the board respond the way you want with minimal effort. I've been riding for a little over two weeks now and have started picking up on some of the points you laid out but having it explained so well really helps.
Tremendously helpful vid. Having no board experience, I had been turning by pushing my shoulder in the direction I wanted to go, as suggested in another vid. Even after 35 miles on my pint, turns still felt sketchy. Started using the knees/ankles per this vid, and turns instantly got so much easier, so much more fun, and so much less fatigue. THANK YOU!
Just got a pint a few days ago and have found turning heel side to be somewhat challenging. This was an awesome breakdown of what to do and be thinking of while I practice. Easy Subscribe!
Awesome video!! Such a great explanation of what not to do and what to do! I know I will definitely be using your tips the next time I ride! Thank you!!!
Hey, brother, been skateboarding my whole life but I just picked up a Onehweel for the first time. Your vid’s have tons of great information, thank you for helping!
You apply human body kinematics (limits of arm extension and lack of rotation in knee) and classical mechanics (comparisons of masses of body parts) to your explanation of one wheel control so well in this video. Bravo!
great video with indepth explanations! I just completed my first ride. I did well and didnt fall but I know that I'll need to work on my heel toe turns. This video definitely helped. Im excited to get back out there.
Hi Jake, I am on my 4th ride of my new pint. I have learnt lots and really appreciate the time you took to produce these vids. Now I just need to develop some new muscle groups.
I've been riding about 10 days, 24 total miles so far. I watched your videos on foot placement and this one on carving, and felt like my skill level doubled over night. I'd been trying to find a good foot placement but I don't know if I ever would have come up with your placement, which gives me incredible control. I'm nothing like an experienced rider, but I can carve and have fun now, before I was struggling to turn any kind of smooth at all.
Great tips! Got myself a second hand XR yesterday and turning is one of the skills I'm least confident. Hopefuly your tips will help me to improve safely and efficiently! Subbed!
Great video Jake! I am a newbie 73 miles with the Insite from this lesson I am twice as good at turning as I was the other day most FUN since my GT arrived last month Thanks
Hey man, stuff like this just doesnt exist on the net yet and I found this super helpful. I had no issues doing toe turns but for the life of me couldnt really master the heel turn more than a light banking thats where you came in. This tutorial helped me manage tight carving which has given me the confidence to take this baby into tight CBD / urban environments without worrying about nailing pedestrians or cars. Thanks!
For that last tip I remember reading somewhere that a certain kind of surfers from Hawaii used to hold small rocks while they surfed as counterweights. It gave them more control and flexibility while riding, because like you said... arms are light. Adding as little as a fee ounces or a single pound to the end of an outstretched arm can make a difference. I just thought it was cool and this video reminded me of that.
Excellent tutorial I use the weighting and unweighting method in my turns where you bend knees and let body weight fall down into the turn then push up with knees coming out of the turn along with bit if hip twist the technique comes from surf skateboarding.
Dude..... I have been struggling with my Onewheel so much and you just helped me so much. You should do a video on how to dial the app settings if you have not already as this also made a huge difference in helping me learn. I went custom and changed stuff to slowest speed and least carve to start. Way easier to start off with. THANK GOD I AM NOT AFRAID OF IT ANY MORE. I seriously thought I was going to have to sell it. I was bummed out bro. THANK YOU.
