Talon Sei Oh man, this is genius tech! 👍👍 I’m buying one ASAP, for local commute, & will probably ride around Downtown, wearing my Darth Vader’s costume, & playing The Imperial March (Darth Vader's Theme) on my Highland Bagpipes! Lol, 🏴 😁 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yMTa_LcCCos.html
Common Sense Hey! When I installed my Cobra pad and new bumpers around 1,100 miles, I accidentally used too long of a screw and punctured a battery seal. I got caught in a rainstorm and the next day i had issues. I sent it to service and they fixed it. Other than that, which was my fault, I’ve had no issues whatsoever.
Yaboimemer1999 I just passed 2,000 now and my battery is still pushing me 18-20 miles each charge. I’m 6’1” and ~165lbs. I am riding on a Hoosier slick and I stay exclusively in Mission.
Dude. Do you live in a ghost town? No cars. No people. Change the music. Throw a few zombies in the video. You got ya self a killer apocalypse movie! 🤣😂
I stopped to help a 'One Wheeler' who took a hard tumble after going what seemed like 40 MPH downhill. When all of a sudden, as he was slightly crouched~ killing it for the ride of his life, the Wheel must have slowed a bit as described in the video, and off he flew. Smart he had a helmet and leathers on! Wasn't hurt too bad. He Was Rippin' it up just before he went down! Holy Cr4p he was going fast!
This is why third parties sell the fangs; they are little wheels that go on the front of the board that help prevent nose-diving. I bought a set for my new one coming in the mail soon.
7 months ago this video popped up in my feed. I had never heard of a Onewheel before, but after watching your excellent video, I knew this is what I was missing in my recreational life. I’m also in my 50’s, so no time like the present! 900 XR miles later, I can say without a doubt that my Onewheel is the best thing I ever purchased for the outdoors. As a side benefit I have met, and talked, to many people in my neighborhood and in my town as a result, and even have a growing organized Onewheel group! Thank you so much for being the catalyst of it all! My life is greatly enriched because of you.
@Micah Mcgaffin I just bought the G2T yesterday, it may be even better. Still might get the Ranger. The streets of NYC are treacherous. Waiting to see if they upgrade the Ranger.
Onewheel Hi! I was wondering about water resistant part, can you ride it even when it rains a little ? Because I Know there is an IP Code (international protection) from some others electric skateboard but i can’t find it for the Onewheel, so, can you ride it under water like a little rain ? Thanks
@@ninnam_lebug I'm not a OneWheel Representative but I do own a OneWheel+ XR with over 500 miles. The OneWheel definitely can handle some rain. Although you should absolutely take precautions like making sure the OneWheel is 110% dry before you plug it in the charger. I've rode my OneWheel in moderate rain at least 3 times but generally I try to avoid riding in the rain. Also investing in a cover for the charging port on the OneWheel is highly recommended, not just to keep moisture out but also dirt, dust, debris, mud, etc.
Having your hands free is selling me so much, got my own eboard and love it but having to use the gimbal and using the remote at the same time is frustrating, this looks like a more intuitive and natural process
These things would be awesome if there were charging stations all around..! Just pack the backpack, and go on a onewheel vacation. Im sure it will happen some day. At least along certain scenic roads, where everyone will be taking their onewheels, electrical bikes, segways, etc; like a lazy-mans version of hiking the Appalacian Trail. For now, i guess im stuck with my good ol' MTB :P
Board wasnt angling up for you to go up hill easier. It was telling you you were near its capability in cruz mode, its called "pushback" and shouldnt be ignored or the board will stop balancing and youll eat the pavement.
Nice review Talon. And 18mph wow you’re doing great! I live in Chicago and we don’t have too many trails here, but it’s still SO much more fun than riding a regular Eboard, even in the street commuting every day. Super versatile machine. Float on bro! -Stroh
what do you like riding better, one wheel or boosted? I know they are different products and rides. I live in a rural area outside of a city. It’s just not fun riding my board around my house Bc of the roads. I’ve been thinking about an all terrain board or a one wheel. Thanks in advance for any advice and input.
charles mckowen honestly, once I rode the onewheel I couldn’t go back to boosted. Yes the all terrain boards can get more speed and more range for a couple more hundred bucks compared to the 1800 price tag of the onewheel but seriously the onewheel feels like an extension of you rather than something you are riding
Talon, I was curious as to whether you carry when you're boarding? If you do is there anything you do differently from your normal EDC? Might make an interesting 5 minute Friday video if you do something different.
This or electric skateboard though? It seems the electric skateboard will have more speed, while the OW will have more versatility and potentially a more enjoyable ride imo
This video made me buy a OneWheel! I feel like I'm late to the party, though, haha. Also, what jacket are you wearing in this vid? I love gray things, and that jacket looks sleek and warm.
FWIW I sprayed a few cans of PlastiDip on the underside of my fender and it helped cut down on the noise from rocks and whatnot hitting the underside. There is still noise to be sure but doing that helps. The Onewheel really should be sold with a fender as standard. Without it you get a serious amount of crud kicked up on to you (I'd end up with a pile of dirt on my back foot). So, if you get a Onewheel definitely get a fender and consider something like PlastiDip to reduce noise.
Thanks for making all your videos. Watching them makes me feel like I have a cool friend. I know we're not *actually* friends, but the videos makes me feel less lonely. Thanks man.
Dude, glad you “shared your stoke” 😂 ... And yer first dismount made me farmer-shoot a mouthful of energy drink through my NOSE!! Didn’t have a warning. ✌️
I shredded a hamstring on one of those - getting too confident too early. Oh and being 53 with no skate board skills didn't help. BUT I'd do it again, just slower lol. A Blast!
I like your optimism I hope you have endless voyages on your new craft! But know that this is a developing technology and nothing is 100% safe! If you are a new rider or over the age of 30 years old please do yourself a favor and be very aware that you are mili-seconds away from a catastrophic failure or a serious wreck! I purchase my XRPlus and 100 miles later, with out warning this Onewheel turned me into a "human fly swatter" I broke my arm and dislocated my shoulder in a blink of eye. Don't be fooled you cannot run out of a 10mph bail-out or re-cover from a nosedive you will hit the deck and hopefully you have the proper riding protection! I sent my new board back to the lab to determine the all of sudden failure and Onewheel determined it was faulty internal parts. I sold it immediately after Onewheel shipped it back. A bitter sweet disappointment and now comes the medial bills!!! Enjoy.
alex deCat thanks for the post. Pushing 50 and really have to consider my skateboarding days are behind me. We just don’t recover as fast as we get older and being left with a permanent disability is a reality that can affect quality of life
Seen this awesome invention two years ago in rural TN advocating for clean water, and the right to rural internet access through local servers! Love the impact, and the all around SOUNDNESS of this awesome, hobby/transportation! Keep rocking in the free world!!!! I want one, AND when I get one all my friends will got to be cool like us..... WITHOUT one of these, they won't be. But after watching me. They are going to lose it! Glad see your dreams coming true! #1invention
Hey man you should really get a full face helmet, and slide gloves. Protect that mug. Oh ya, also start the downhill skating. Sick video style, little long but thorough and easy to watch.
I saw a pair of these in Santa Cruz at the Lighthouse about 3 years ago while acquainting myself with the Pacific. I had no idea what they were until the couple (I assume the owners) took off on them! I tried to look it up when I got back to PA but didn't know what it was called and gave up (OneWheel - Duh)! It's amazing the range it has, and it looks like fun!! Thanks for the review!
Dude you're awesome. When you gonna get an electric unicycle? Veteran just came out with one that you can go 115 miles at 45mph on a single charge. Would love to see you review one of those
I love the Onewheel so much ! (906km odometer) I have bought the Onetail+ backfoot pad it is so much better to the stock.. no more foot fatigue, better control, .. a must have ! or the Cobra pad have great review too but never tried it, i recommend you to buy one of these if you want the best experience of the Onewheel ! I will buy hoosier 6.0 FF when my Vega tire will die better for offroad and good for street too, very polyvalent. Best purchase ever
If you want something bad enough you figure it out. My daughter is growing up fast. I already work two jobs as a nurse. I needed more income to buy is dirt bikes. I started hauling away peoples junk in the evenings and weekends. I paid off two brand new dirtbikes 9k in 4 months. And that’s just doing something on the side. I expect to do the same for the one wheel for each of us.
instead of painting try slaping down one layer of some sound deadener stuff w the metalic backing and adhesive will make installation as ez as slapping on a sticker and will def kill that rock chatter noises... how do u like the one wheel now? i have a meepo board but wanted to know how the ride is on the one wheel... i do snowboard and use my long board quit often but i would love something i can take off road on gravel paths and walkways and such.. lemme kno how ur liking the 1wheel as of today 4-19? thanks in advance.. -pistol pete
You guys should check out electric unicycles. Kingsong 18s can be used seated, it goes 30mph, and gets 70 miles to a 3.5 hour quick charge. Aaaand is only $2,000. Makes these one wheels look overpriced. Just look up EUCs
Dude, such a good review. I think your hand mannerisms and clarity of speech really made the video flow and made is enjoyable as well. I'm probably going to put in an order for an XR within the hour. Well Done, Sir!
I ride my Evolve in the trails all the time! It goes through everything damn near! The monowheel is pretty sick though! Actually seen a dude on Friday riding one in town. It's even more impressive to see it in person, the acceleration was really good. Ohhhhhh! Talon where did you get that helmet?
I was thinking about getting one to ride back and forth to work, in addition to just having fun on it, obviously. I had didn't realize it also regenerated power going down hills and braking. I really want one, and the more I learn about it, the more that $1800 price tag looks reasonable.
Same here, I prefer this than a car. You don't have to pay insurance for this, or gasoline. It's chargeable, great speed, superb battery life! Nobody in my city has this yet. I have to walk more than an hour from work, and 30 minutes to school. This is why I'm currently working a part time job at AutoZone, then once I'm on summer break, I will work in the fields. I will have two jobs. This has honestly been on my mind ever since I've seen it at the beach. I want this more than an Apple laptop which costs $1,400, or the Pioneer DJ XDJ-RX2, which is $1,699.
Just buy an electric unicycle with range you need and enjoy life) I pretty frequently ride my EUC with onewheel riders and I can tell you for sure that their riding experience is far from what is advertised...... And they are forced to sit next to power outlets about 70% of a ride time... And that is just painful to watch. I currently own EUC (ks-18xl) and it provides me with 50km/h speed and 130km range. Before buying transport like this it is a good idea to do a market research and determine what kind of transport is more suitable for your needs. Peace
@@And198890 I might need to choose the logical choice as the first vehicle as i dont even have an normal bike let alone drivers license. ;p Will buy another fun PEV when i can afford it, must keep down to earth. But it does make you dream seeing all of these expensive toys. xD Also i live in an country where its windy most of the time. Would be bad to crash at 20+kmh on the euc on the way to work! :P Bet they would grow tired of me calling in sick because i broke another bone or something. ;)
@@terkelalgevind529 That is the point, onewheels is a toy and if you want something you can use as a tool and go places without "Range anxiety" then EUC is the only wise choice for you. Peace
@@And198890 You just made me discover the EUC. I'm astonished by the range ... But I will stay on my electric skate, my commute is only 6miles. And I can't deal with the EUC dramatic lack of swag
it looks like half of a jet ski trailer. is it hard to back up ? does it have bearing buddies ? it has trailer lights that's cool! Are they going to come out with a tandem version ? Its cool that it's all terrain capable . They should make a single ski version for the snow ! rad
This gadget could potentially revolutionize urban transportation even *more sensibly than car-sized EVs:* Cars (including EVs) still waste a lot of real state to move just 1 person. Not considering refueling stations (gas or power charger), parking spaces, road maintenance, signage, etc... Moving with 4,000 lbs of ballast is NOT "ecological" no matter the power source. Sorry, Elon Musk. With a one-wheel vehicle, you can still take advantage of existing public transportation infrastructures AND arrive on time rested to most places.
I have an Electric Mountain Bike but this looks funner lol. I would get one but the terrain I'm usually on is a bit too rough/uneven for this ...fantastic video though, and that dismount to table crash was epic lol
@Ultranationalist I thought pound for pound Sweden was supposed to be one of the most intelligent countries, why is there an electric scooter death problem over there lolol
I apologize for the double comments, but I have now gotten sucked into seeing the benefits for having a OneWheel - especially being a snowboarder and thinking about the enjoyment for riding one. Probably my biggest concerns and my question to you are - how is the maintenance of the board/ how long do you believe you can ride it before having to buy another one and how water proof is the board? - I know the BMS is waterproof but I am curious about the battery pack - which seeing the process makes me believe it is as well
I honestly can't stand when people do the who 'wear a helmet' bullshit or really anything like that. Don't get me wrong wearing a helmet is a good idea but, who the fuck are you to tell another adult what they have to do. It would be different if these videos were full blown tutorials on how to ride, but they're not, they're primary reviews.... Of the board....
Okay ... I hate to do this to you (or anyone), but I have no choice. I don't care about all the fun things you do on the onewheel. What I want to know is ... how practical is the onewheel for my own purpose. Which is? . To go fetch gasoline for my ... airplane! Say what? You see, I just bought a tiny little side-by-side 2-seat airplane. The main purpose is to fly low and slow down canyons or mountain valleys, past spires (think Monument Valley), land on mountaintops and mountain ridges for picnic lunch ... that kind of thing. But eventually, I need to go find fuel. I almost never land at an airport that hosts jets (even tiny jets). In fact, much of the time I just land on grass lawns, dirt roads, long driveways, sand bars along rivers, empty fields, or one of the 20,000+ tiny little airstrips scattered around the world that regular folks never see (and might not even recognize is there for tiny airplanes if they took a walk down the "runway"). And so, the following is what sometimes happens when I need to find fuel. I visually scout from the air, with naked eye or sometimes with binoculars, for gas stations where I can land on the road and pull into the gas station. Sometimes works, sometimes can't find one that convenient. In which case I find a gas station with a lawn or field or dirt-road or something I can land on nearby (need about 100+ feet of straightaway, more at higher elevations). When I land, the hassle is dragging two empty 5~10 gallon fuel bladders to the gas station, which might be 100 feet away... or a few miles away in the worst cases. Getting to the gas station is the easier part, because the fuel bladders are empty and smaller (collapsed), but still no fun if the distance is very far. The harder part is getting back to the airplane with two awkward fuel bladders full of gasoline (5~10 gallons each == 35 to 70 pounds each). I checked out those manual and electric bikes that be folded and disassembled, but they just barely fit or don't fit through the hole into my cargo area. Which brings us to these onewheel gizmos. They will definitely fit through the hole into the cargo area, and consume a lot less volume than those bikes. So my main question is... are they practical to haul two 5~10 gallon fuel bladders (basically thick rubber bags) roughly the size and shape of those red "jerry jugs" that are common for carrying gasoline in or to cars. Except the fuel bladders have more rounded edges. They all have handles and some have clips for shoulder straps. Forget the fun! The airplane is my fun. The question is, are they stable and reliable enough for my purpose (once I have 5 or 10 hours practice riding the suckers). And do remember your answer needs to take into account hauling those two heavy fuel bladders while you ride. So, all you experts out there. Works easily? Might work? Totally crazy? Maybe more important ... what else might be better? Remember though, needs to be small to fit through the hole into the cargo area. The solution should be as lightweight as possible, because every extra pound of weight slightly reduces the performance of the airplane. Oh, and cheap-as-possible would be nice too.
Longest comment award goes to you sir... And yes you could use this to carry whatever you can carry in your hands. I ride with a back pack that is 10+ pounds all the time.
Dead not any more efficient, but more durable and higher quality components than those cheap hover boards. One wheel and electric unicycles are real transportation device. Hover boards are cheap toys by comparison.
I bought mine after watching these videos. I am a bit older than the ‘typical’ rider but I think I will be fine. I am not a daredevil. I just want to be able to get around having fun. I live right near a huge forest preserves and am waiting anxiously to get mine, due tomorrow!
I'm 49 and love it. Never rode a skateboard in my life. I would suggest the cheapest fender to start, because my pretty carbon fiber one has scratches now due to jumping off when learning to ride.
