I have both... I had to jump on this. It's going be part of my collection years down the line and replacing my main pc when I get an Egpu. D pads better on the Ally so may relegate it to fighting games and streaming games at 120hz and the Deck to all emulation and anything needing the trackpads.

Nice that you can convert between Console and Laptop. Having an extra keyboard just for the unit just adds so much utility for everyday use.

honestly that keyboard isnt that special because you can just get a low profile keyboard with better switches and attach it to the full size usb port or use a usb c converter or dongle wihch would give a better typing experience

Yeah obviously there’s a million Bluetooth keyboard options, but I like how low-profile / small and matching the attachable keyboard is on this - great for on the go, or if you need some more precision control (like for an mmo/raid that benefits greatly from a keyboard)

Love thin bezels. I own the Steam Deck and it has pretty chunky bezels, doesn't kill gameplay enjoyment but here it's a plus for OnexPlayer 2 Pro.

Wow this is almost the perfect phoenix point handheld, only missing the oculink capability! A bonus if it had HDMI out too. Anyways looks awesome! Would definitely want one in the future if financial luck arrives. As always I'm also longing for the yuzu totk 7840u benchmark which are never present... also missing is the usb version information, many prospective buyers of this product will surely want external gpu capability...

Among special editions, this is awesome! If i would get a special edition i would want this. I'd immediately buy a Asuka or Rei versio. Red and yellow and black would look siiiick. Rei would be a better white version.

I have never understood the massive interest in purple handhelds even as far back as the translucent purple gameboy. This, on the other hand, combination of purple with green accents makes this thing look pretty cool!

Great video as always! Only thing I couldn't find ( sorry if its there and I missed it ) is the approximate TDP of non-CPU components. For the tests the CPU is locked to 30 but screen and the rest of the system how much do account for. Just for an approximation on how long battery life would be. 65Wh is getting close to a device you could use on a trip!

I'm still not seeing many of these handheld manufactures using FreeSync as a basic feature which would be really useful. FreeSync is always helpful with handhelds and needs to be standard for Handheld features.

Yeah, variable refresh rate, whether Freesync or Gsync, are very underappreciated features. It makes all the difference when your fps can't quite hit to refresh rate of the display (60Hz in this case). Without it, if the fps drops into the 50s, just for few seconds, you'll feel it in heavy stutters, but with variable refresh, it'll stay smooth and evenly paced and you'll likely not even feel the dip. The ROG Ally's 120Hz basically required Freesync, since few games are able to hold 120fps consistently, so Freesync kind of makes that not matter as it stays evenly paced no matter where the fps is. Even 40fps feels fine on it.

for those wondering, price from taobao is 7,999 yuan, which is just over $1,100 usd. probably have to pay shipping as well. it's cool, and I'm a huge fan of Evangelion. But the Ally being significantly cheaper, and the steamdeck more-so, that's a tough sell.

I really wish when you do benchmarks you put a graph afterwards of what other handhelds got in the same bench. Also rankings of things like fan noise, comfort, and most importantly benchmarks at 10 and 15 watts comparisons. No one is playing at 30 watts in hand held mode.

I got the ROG Ally and it's a major upgrade over the Steam Deck, imo, especially now that they've worked out some of the kinks in updates. It's only $50 more than the equivalent 512GB Deck, but you get nearly double the performance, resolution, refresh rate, and screen brightness and color accuracy. The only drawbacks are the lack of touchpads and that it doesn't quite have the same level of console-like "it just works" aspect of the Deck since it uses Windows 11 (but I actually prefer this since it means it works well as a full fledged PC too).

Wait for Strix Point Ryzen 8000 before dropping big money for such handhelds. Ryzen 8000 RDNA3.5 will be the tipping point. I feel RDNA3 is still in the uncanny valley for iGPU only gaming. 1080p60 medium not there yet.

Just got mine. Curiously, I only got 3,090 for Timespy. 2,800 GPU, 8,100 CPU. I have TDP maxed for both GPU and CPU with turbo on and automatic fans. I did notice Timespy reported only 512MB of VRAM for some reason, and noticed the same happening in games, yet they seem to be running fine even with 5,000+ MB in use. I also did let Windows Update do its thing. I also noticed that installing the available update in the console launcher under settings seems to cause the console to stop working altogether, so had to roll back to default.
