💥 EDIT: The Amex Platinum card DOES NOT give you airline status. I misspoke about that here. They do have a $200 airline incidental credit, but they do not offer airline status. My apologies! 🎥 Full video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2UqLNvxpKzY.html

I see the AMEX blue cash preferred and the no annual fee Capital One Savor card as a better option for food. Especially since the first year is $0 for the blue cash preferred. With the gold card, you'll be paying $250 annually. I just couldn't justify that.

The CSR instead of the CSP and it's not only for transferring to parnters, it's for all travel purchases except airfare (that goes on the Platinum). You get 3X on hotels, rental cars (with excellent insurance), taxis, public transportation, parking and cruises. Also use it for dining where AMEX is not accepted (which is in a lot of places abroad).

@manofthepeople2165
@manofthepeople2165 7 месяцев назад
Plat gives you 5x on plane tickets (booked directly through airline) and 5x on hotels booked through amex portal. It does not give you the 4x dining and grocery that gold gives you. It also lets you get into the airport lounges. Chase sapphire preferred gives you 1.25x in chase travel portal, chase reserve gives tou 1.5x in chase travel portal. HOWEVER most of the time you dont wanna do this because the highest value way to spend chase ultimate rewards points is by transferring them to Hyatt. Not much reason to pay the $550 a year for Chase Sapphire reserve especially cuz the multipliers are almost identical.

Compared to using cash or a debit card I’d consider it free! Just speaking strictly on the rewards you earn. All flights and hotels can be booked with points and you can even cash out points to use for food and activities if you wanted, all from earning rewards on spend you’d be doing anyways. But if you’re talking about the annual fees, you’d have to make sure you get positive value from the credits on these cards every year, but if you do, you can not only break even on the annual fees, but actually profit substantially every year. It just all depends on what fits your strategy.

Currently debating on getting the venture x BUT if you have any other recommendations let me know!!
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Год назад
I'll do my best to help! The biggest thing I'd check is what lenders have your preferred airlines/hotels as transfer partners. I would be surprised if Capital One has exactly what you're looking for, but through airline alliances and such, you should be able to book domestic flights with a little bit of extra work. I'd almost be tempted to recommend the Chase Sapphire Reserve in this case since you already have the preferred. I say that because if you're only traveling domestically, the 50% boost on your points in Chase's travel portal is a better deal than transferring to travel partners in a lot of cases. Plus they do still have access to a lot of domestic transfer partners as well which is nice. And it comes with Priority Pass access. The Amex Platinum is going to be the king of airport lounge access, but it's hard for me to recommend it with its annual fee. For me, it would be way too much work to get value from it to justify it right now, but that may not be the case for you. Also, you could look at the Hilton Aspire since it has Priority Pass lounge access, but you have to be a pretty big fan of Hilton to have that card as your main travel card. At the end of the day, I'd choose a card with the lender that has your preferred airline and hotel as a travel partner, has an annual fee that is really easy for you to get positive value from, and has some airport lounge access (which all luxury travel cards have SOME of). Hopefully that helps a bit!
@Ramonphotography
@Ramonphotography Год назад
@@SpencerJohnsonOfficial thank you so much!! This is great help, now I’m leaning towards the csr haha. I saw the Amex Hilton honors business but idk what transfer partners they have
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Год назад
Of course! Just make sure you do the calculations to see if that card would make sense for you. Honestly if I could get the welcome bonus on it right now, I’d strongly consider it. As for the Hilton cards, those points are not transferable since you’re only earning Hilton points rather than Amex Membership Rewards points. So you’re tied down to Hilton with those cards. The same goes for every co-branded card out there.
@Ramonphotography
@Ramonphotography Год назад
@@SpencerJohnsonOfficial the annual fee the on that car would be around $250 after the $300 credit which isn’t that bad. Is there any other cards you might recommend with lounge access ?
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Год назад
There are other ways to get value back other than the one credit, but you’re correct, it still has a pretty high effective annual fee. I think I’ve mentioned all the ones I would look at personally though. You could really go with any of the ones we’ve talked about, but I’d do the math to see which ones have the lowest effective annual fee and has the travel partners you desire.

What cards are good if u can’t get chase
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Год назад
That's a great question! It really all depends on your goals at the end of the day. There are a ton of great cards with a multitude of lenders, but whether you are on team cash back or team travel will help determine where you should get started. My credit card roadmap video helps explain how I think about what cards I should add next and the questions I ask myself to come to those conclusions which may be helpful to you. Without knowing your particular goals, I can't say for sure what lender is best for you, but I can tell you that Amex is a fan favorite. A TON of people love Amex, including myself, but the one issue with them is that they have a very small collection of cards without an annual fee, but again, if your goals are to travel with your points and such, then those annual fee cards can make a lot of sense. Citi has a great trifecta for very cheap too if you wanted to check them out. Their points are also really simple to use which is nice. You could get the Citi Double Cash, Custom Cash, and Premier cards which all compliment each other really nicely. Once again, it all depends on your goals, so I would look into each of them respectively (including Capital One too), and then let me know if you have any questions about the one you wanna go with. Hopefully this helps!

Good question! The Amex Platinum card doesn't give you airline status, just hotel status. However, you do get a $200 airline incidental credit with it, so if you are loyal to one of Amex's transfer partners, you could book all your trips with them to work towards loyalty and also use that credit to save you some money every year.

You don't have to have to get airline status with the AMEX Platinum, the BOA manager can get you a OT purchase for your bank, and be free to do anything free on your bank
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Год назад
I’m not sure I 100% understand what you’re saying, but it seems like you’re implying that Bank of America has a special program that gives you pseudo-airline status? That would be interesting if so.
@MikeCampton
@MikeCampton Год назад
@@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Yeah I only ask because you mention in your video that the Amex Plat helps you get airline status. That's misleading as it doesn't help at all. And the $200 incidental credit is extremely negligible when you often need to spend thousands with one airline to get to the lowest level elite status.

Why not the chase reserve?
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Год назад
The Reserve is a great card too for the right individual! I get a lot of value from the CSP with just a $95 annual fee since I prefer to transfer my points out to travel partners and the CSP gets me that for a much lower annual fee. But if you prefer only one luxury travel card, there’s 4 main ones to choose from between the Platinum, Venture X, Hilton Aspire and Chase Sapphire Reserve. Everyone has their preferences though and I think the CSR is really solid for the right person.

If you don’t get positive value from the credits NATURALLY every year then these cards aren’t free. If you do, they’re effectively free. It’s a simple math equation, but if that’s not how you see it, then maybe these credit cards aren’t for you!

Glad you liked it! Just make sure that if you do add these cards you realize that the power that comes from them lies in using their points for travel and getting value from their credits. If you check those boxes, this can be a really solid setup!

@movieandshowreviewsondeman3134
@movieandshowreviewsondeman3134 8 месяцев назад
It’s $1040 in annual fees, only half of the number you quoted. And if you use the credits offered by the annual fee cards, you’d actually be making money, not losing money. If the credits offered don’t appeal to you, then this setup wouldn’t be a good option for you.
