Try the Jims Pares at the Bocobo st. at Manila... Its so satisfying to eat there and you can share the experience with the other locals that eat there, also if you want another round of soup on your bowl, its free... But the down part was you have to stand while eating...😅
Here comes another foreign youtuber with their EXAGERRATED REACTIONS like "OH MY GOD WOW OH MY GOD SO IMPRESSED" lmfao! I swear some of these youtubers can work in the p0rn industry.
You guys mixed theHalo-Halo the right way. One of the few foreigners that did it right the first time. Enjoy the rest of your trip in the Philippines!❤️👍🏼
I checked your views and your first video in manila already has 77k views compared to the other videos you have it jumped through the roof! Filipino are not only friendly people but we are also savy when it comes to social media specially about the Philippines. Keep up the good work and welcome to the Philippines i bet you hear that alot lol.
The sausages look like longanisa (or longganisa) to me, though I've never seen them that big! Longanisa with garlic fried rice and a fried egg make up a dish called "longsilog," my favourite Filipino "silog" breakfast. You have no idea the big smile I had on my face this whole video!

Philippines sausage “Longganisa” garlicky a bit sweet, and you must try that in a Filipino way, we deep it in a vinegar with onion, pepper, garlic and chili (labuyo) . ENJOY THE PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭 ❤️
Thanks for such a happy and uplifting vlog today. There are many friendly people around the world but the Filipinos have got to be at the top of my list. 👍💯❤️🇵🇭. They have such a family friendly culture and as you have experienced, absolutely delicious and varied food. Enjoy your stay in such a beautiful country. 🤗❤️🙏🇵🇭🌎

When in Manila, go at the following: 1. National Museums (Allot at least a day to visit these museums, you will almost visit the whole Philippines going here.) 1.1 National Museum of Fine Arts 1.2 National Museum of Natural History 1.3 Museum of Anthropology 2. Rizal Park 3. Intramuros 4. Binondo (oldest China Town) 5. SM MOA, sunset at the bay
Thank you for appreciating our streetfoods. Btw, you're one of those foreigner-vloggers who did the right way to eat halo-halo👍👍As you have mentioned here, halo-halo means mix-mix. Meanwhile, enjoy the rest of the Philippines. There's so much more to discover.
We call it longganisa ( aka chorizo in Spanish ). But these are eaten with rice. They are not eaten the way sausages are enjoyed by themselves hehe. Longganisas are breakfast fare together with fried eggs and rice hihihihi but glad u enjoyed it a bit
The Vigan and Lucban Longganizas are among the best longganizas in the Philippines. It is best partnered with vinegar sauce, sinangag(or fried garlic rice), kamatis(tomato), and sunny side up egg.
4:05 Longganisa is one of our Spanish culinary heritage. There are different varieties tho almost in every region. Basically our food is a fusion of Malay, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, Spanish and American cuisines
Some of the street foods which I saw you ate are fishball, barbeque but coming from the famous Inengs Barbeque Restaurant (Amorsolo Saturday Market), and dumpling soup. Typical street foods: adidas (chicken feet), betamax ( chicken or pig's blood), isaw (chicken or pork intestine), kwek-kwek (quail or chicken egg dipped in flour),
That soup looked so "yummy" along with the fish balls. Manilla looks really developed and modern and that rooftop night skyline was absolutely stunning. I am so hungry right now after watching this video, LOL! You guys looked so happy. BTW the fruit you bought looked like what we call a soursop in Trinidad. What was it and how did it taste?
@@MattandJulia soursop is lovely...especially in a punch with lots of evaporated and condensed milk. And it makes an incredible ice cream as well. In Suriname they make a fruity drink with it...pretty good. But it's a great ice cream. ..lol.
Welcome to the Philippines 🇵🇭!!! New subscriber here. Filipino family living in Belgium 🇧🇪. Enjoy your stay in the Philippines and stay safe lovely people ❤️🙏🏼
that sausage thing is called longanisa, similar to the spanish chorizo. other regions in the philippines have different flavor. some have more garlic flavor, some are sweet.
Julia. for your skin. Mix together 1 tbsp honey 3 tbsp gram flour a pinch of turmeric a little water to make a face mask. Slaver on and wait 10 mins. then rinse off xx
First time i saw your video.... I hope youre both enjoy in our country... And also julia's voice is so sweet ❤.. Take care both of you... More power...
Hi guys, first time watching you. Thanks for appreciating our food, and people! Some of the street food you had aren't really the traditional ones like that chicken on a skewer and the noodles. I suggest if you chance upon these to try them coz these are the authentic native street foods: banana-Q, turon, isaw (grilled chicken intestines), taho, and if you're daring enough - balut. :)
Wow, I knew it, the numbers of foreigners coming to philippines are increasing faster, some moved here in country, some is just here for a vacation, some is just here for adventure. Hope you have a great time and have a great day here in our country! :D
I have not seen the typical Binondo place like Ongpin St. (famous are New Po Heng Lumpia House, Shanghai Fried Siopao etc) Strictly Dumpling has a vlog on it.
Hey Matt and Julia, As always, the videos are so pleasing and make us salivate over the food. It's foodie heaven. The Markets in the Philippines is where the action is at. Thank you so much for taking us there, sending you love and kisses 😘😘 Harriet , Jim and Yuki. Richmond. Va.
Go to Binondo, Manila for a more exciting food trip. You can ride a grab taxi. Ride for an MRT & LRT down to Carriedo Station. Or in Guadalupe Makati Ferry Station, you can ride here all the way to Binondo Station. Try visiting Cafe Mezzanine, Great Buddha & 1919 Grand Cafe. Seascape Village near the Mall of Asia ( Beside Sofitel ) is also a must to visit. You can also try visiting Okada Manila for some special side trip to watch the dancing fountain just the same in Las Vegas.
Loved this vlog, am jealous of all the amazing street food you guys are trying, it just looks so yummy, what a nice guy john seemed, helping you out and recommending fish balls to you, from what can see almost all the people out in the Philippines 🇵🇭, seem happy , approachable and very lovely. As always have fun and enjoy your travels
I'd say most of us like seeing other nationalities enjoying our country. And yes, most Filipinos are approachable and happy to help out, except maybe those who can't speak English well or can't speak it at all. They're the ones who tend to be aloof, and understandably so. But most Filipinos know how to speak basic English, so that's also a plus for foreigners coming here.
I was there in the military yrs ago and we use to eat a lot of mystery meat on a stick and wash it down with cold beer. It was 90° even in December then. And lumpia is fabulous
Before you guy head down to Beach Areas in Cebu, There is so many places to check out in Luzon region. Tagaytay is just around 2 hours or so just outside Manila. Its up in the Mountains so its not as humid. Tagaytay Highlands are one best resorts for log type of homes. Its like being a log Cabins in Canada. Motorcycle enthusisasts usually go through this route through Baguio on the way back as its scenic drive. And if you are into hiking, 4x4 offroading and camping as an into one activity, Zambales region is the place to be.
that meat on a stick is called Longganisa. The thing is, longganisa is the philippine version of a sausage or chorizo. And like most things in the Philippines since this is an archipelago made up of over 7,600 islands, 17 regions, 81 provinces, longganisa comes in all sizes and flavors. Commonly eaten at breakfast along with rice and egg, but you now have the humble longganisa showing up everywhere from hamburgers, salads, and other meals.

Hi guys..nice to have you in the Philippines 🇵🇭 there's a lot of places to explore just around metro Manila..I recommend the following places like BGC, MOA, Eastwood in Quezon City, Ayala mall, Mega mall in Ortigas, Alabang , Greenhills, Okada and Intramuros..
The fishballs are a Hong Kong street food snack (actually curry chewy fish balls, so kind of similar) and fishballs with pork filling is a Fuzhou variety of fishballs (just not green). As someone else already mentioned you really missed the most famous street food. May be make a list and try them next time 🤣. As always, thank you and travel safe ❤️
That was not the Manila Chinatown, the oldest Chinatown in the world. You went to the Lucky Chinatown, a big mall located at Claro M Recto in Divisoria, Manila. The Manila Chinatown is located in Binondo, St. Cruz Manila.
🤗 Hey guys Happy to see you enjoy some of Filipino foods. 😀 Excited to see your next island trip, where you can try traditional foods like lechon, sisig, crispy pata. Etc 🤩
Also, technically you didn't go to the oldest Chinatown, you actually went to the posh side of divisorya (dee-vee-sore-ya), which is the famous wholesale, or bargain place in metro manila. Going through the back alley streets there you show you a lot of bargain products, anywhere from clothes to electronics, to furniture, to almost anything depending on where you are and what street you are in.
If you have time...go to Pampanga-province the so called Culinary capital of the country.....authentic and fresh....50kilometers north of Manila....great culture, friends and foods in the south... also esp. in Cebu and the province of our Pres. Duterte!
Sir Matt and Julia, try to go Rizal Paglitaw Natural Pool, Hinulagang Tatak Water Falls,Baguio City Tourist Spots,La Trinidad Benguet Strawberry Farm and Sagada Mt.Province Tourist Spots.
From all the food you ate, only the fishball can be called a legit street food. The rest is regular food sold in street stalls. Most Philippines street foods are body parts of chicken and pork not normally eaten (think of chicken intestines, neck, feet, esophagus, blood, liver, etc). Another popular street food is Balut, boiled duck egg with embryo. Best place to find these stuff are in crowded areas like public markets, side streets, residential areas where the not-so-rich people live.
Wai ying (where you got the noodle soup in lucky china mall) has a resrautaunt and in there has more food options than the popup un the mall but sometimes theres a queue!
Im not sure if you should eat that sweet Sausage or Longanisa, a la carte. It has strong flavors, its not like Hotdogs where you can just add mustard, ketchup & mayo. Longanisa is usually paired with fried rice, fried eggs, tomatoes & vinegar, or Longsilog breakfast meal.
8:06 most Filipinos can speak/understand English.... so do not hesitate to ask around...especially the vendors and security guards ..... just ask politely
As you see, Filipinos love the camera! Great video of the area and the foods. Hope you get to try more while you are there. I just want someone there to send me some Dari Creme butter. Can't get it here anymore, loved it with my breakfast every morning that I was there...
Best if you research a bit on the area so you don't consume a lot of time. Traffic in manila is bad i recommend you go early rush hour is 5pm until 8pm.
Filipino soul foods are amazing!!!! ..enjoy !and welcome to Philippines!! Hello from former Filipino watching you from Pennsylvania ,U.S.A. ! I cant wait to go back for vacation 😊❤️
Amazing Filipino street food tripping almost every Saturday and Sunday there is street food festival around the city very enjoyable and nice to attend one or two ur halohalo tastes so cool fresh and delicious keep safe cheers
if i have known beforehand, I would have given you this challenge. If you look closely at those chicken bbq, you can actually assemble a whole chicken (CHICKENSTEIN) from the different parts (from head to feet) being grilled, including the innards (blood, intestine, heart etc). you can even add a tokneneng so it will have an egg. the only part missing will be the feathers! maybe you can do it next time.
Another great video guys. Julia have you thought about the possibility of being allergic to your facemask? I've met a few people that are and they have had to change to a different brand of facemask
Hello...thank u so much for visiting my homeland...hope u wnjoy and nive seeing u guys trying our local street food..one tip is try to connect with locals and your experience will be more remarkable...its more fun in the Philippines🍀🍀🍀
In Canada, we don't really have much of a street food culture, apart from a few hot dog carts, food trucks, and ice cream bikes, unless there's a special event. The licensing system here is designed to discourage street food vendors, because restaurants don't like the competition.
Yes that's the way it should be..fair competition because restau pay much bigger taxes. But this system of allowing vendors are similar all over East Asia, South East Asia, Morocco, India, China, Hongkong, even in South Korea. How's that.
@@MattandJulia by this time of the year it will be hard to find since because the wet season have started, and manybof these pop-up halo-halo stands in close comminities. There are many halo-halo parlors in the city and my go to is "Ice Castle" and Sol's and for fresh fruit halo-halo there is McJoy.
Best to stay away from street food. Better to eat at a mall where there's usually a food court and restaurants where there's air-conditioning. Jollibee, ChowKing, Mang Insal & Greenwich can all give you cheap food. Tokyo Tokyo is just a little more expensive. For Filipino food, try Cabalen Buffet, Max's Fried Chicken or Gerry's Grill. Beware of those communal street food dips.
