I have very very fond memories of this game. Would play it Co op with my bro for many years after it released. Loved the different factions.

That era of gaming was so much fun. My mom at the time was a rep for Xbox, one day a backpack was sent to her and she said my brother and I could open it... well it was filled with Xbox games like Brute Fore, Blinks, Bloodwake, Sudeki, and Kakuto Chojin

So many fond memories of this game. One of the first games I ever played and one of the funnest. This game has a special place in my heart. Great review!

22 years old?!. This game is barely 20 years old. I think Brute Force deserves a revival for the 20th anniversary. Which will be next year.

My Dad and I absolutely adored this game so much so our origional disk got too damaged to use and as funny as it may sound we had no idea you could play this co-op so we raw dogged this game solo. I actually really enjoyed the story on offer despite being glorifed boarder patrol the plot with the shrikes attempting to weaken the confed with theses skrimishes outside it's boarder. But I'm not gonna say this was a S tier game as you say it was average and once you beat it there is not any reason to come back but the time I did have playing it was enjoyable.

I played the living hell out of this game in the past and it would be good if Microsoft put it on the back-compat menu along with mercenaries 2 world in flames which was an amazing destruction sandbox game. Fond memories indeed and ones I hope they add soon.

This Game is good if You play it with a friend. I remember playing this with My brother and have a lot of fun.

You absolutely can swap out both guns, but characters are restricted in weapon types and can't pick up guns outside of their weight class. Tex can use cannons and/or rifles, Brutus can have one cannon and one rifle or two rifles, and the women can have one pistol and one rifle. Brutus has to carry his heavy weapon on his back, so you have to do some weapon juggling with him if you're trying to swap the one he carries on his belt. Also, special abilities, particularly the women's abilities, are far more useful on harder difficulties. That power blade is an instant kill when in stealth.

There’s a Brute Force novel I found to be quite good!

A lot of the "Shitty" games ive bought in the past due to low funds or a gift ended up turning into classics for me like Ty and Ty 2!

Brute Force was the shit back in the day! It was the Mass Effect of the day! Also, if you played the squad utilizing their abilities, it was hella fun!

I remember playing this game when my uncle stayed at my mom's house offline. Years later I got my first Xbox and bought this game to play it again it was good. Didn't know about Xbox live till 4 years after halo 2 came out and got my first Xbox 360

I loved Brute Force, super Janky by modern standards, but tons of fun, especially with friends. Also, Hawk's melee weapon was meant to be used while invisible, it did like 5x dmg while cloaked.

I wish they remastered this beautiful game. It was perfect back in its day and would easily spend hundreds to possibly thousands of hours playing it

I was high the entire time which might be why I liked it and it stuck in my mind after all these years.

I remember playing Brute force at a friends house back in the day and I remember being hype for it because the cover art looked edge lord as fuck 😄 Playing co op tho it just made me think it was a 3rd person version of halo with rainbow 6 elements and just being generic as all hell. Picked it up at my local retro shop for $5 and it was quite a fun weekend play through tho. Hope you put Call of Cthulhu on your next poll I see that in your collection 👀 that game was pretty dope

I remember playing this around the time it released at a childhood friend's 13th birthday party 4 player couch co-op. Back then I didn't follow gaming news on the regular and never had hype for much besides when halo 2 would launch so this game genuinely surprised me. The 4 player co-op was a lot of fun to play and it turned into a regular for our groups system link nights alongside games like halo and mechassault. After playing it again recently, I don't think the gameplay aged that well but I was rocking solo play and I feel co-op was this games selling point. The main gripe I had with this game as a teen was the character balance was absolutely bonkers. Tex and Flint had powers that were insanely useful/strong (auto-aim for a power is too good), Brutus was kind of 'meh' but looked cool, and nobody wanted to play Hawk because she sucked. She had barely any health and she would get a couple attacks off then turn visible. A lot of arguments about who would play who were settled by me choosing Hawk to keep the peace.

im 30 and i never knew the creator of Wing Commander made this, this feels very on point if WC was a shooter

lets also remember, and this is valuable. this was a special era of games when they were just designed to be fun, there wasn't any micro transactions or pay to win. games just had a solid design and were meant to be fun

I loved brute force. Where i got my gamertag brutus from. Also I was hoping to one day see a remake or sequel to this game

I saw this on the shelf among pretty standard Xbox OG/360 games (later checking it's backwards compatibility on 360 as I don't own an OG Xbox so that's the strictness I have to go with it's why I enjoyed PGR1&2 when restarting my OG Xbox collection and why I can't play Voodoo Vince well unless I get the remaster on Xbox One but eh got the physical when ready and $10 versus digital remaster eh) in a retro game store and was intrigued by it. Never heard of it like many Xbox exclusives outside of your Blinx, Halo, Forza, or Voodoo Vince, used to own Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast on Xbox but have that on PSP now. Found more over time (mostly the noteable Sega titles Sega GT 2002/Online, Shenmue, Jet Set Radio, certain others) like Group S Challenge, Tork, Sega GT 2002/Online, but never about this game so was curious and it seems interesting for what it is.

I have a few fond memories of this game. We didn't have the money to be spending on secondary controllers so I had to play solo and I had the game rented for like 3 days, but it's stuck with me all these years. Also Blinx is amazing and I wish they'd put the sequel game on game pass.

We at Xbox offer the both the best and worst shooters for our original console! Well maybe not the absolute worst, but it's definitely a slog to grind through. Just imagine if they made a part 2 though. It could have fleshed out the story, world, characters, etc. I guess Linda like Timesplitters. While the first one had good gameplay it didn't really have a good story or character development. Which they fleshed out with 2 and 3. You cat is adorable btw. Cheers Sean!

I was so let down by this game. After playing Halo and thinking this would be as good. Played the first level and a bit of the second and never picked it up again.

Watching a sleepy eyed cat is one of the greatest joys in life...unlike playing Brute Force...which you already know. Can't wait for the Blinx video.
