These guides are so immensely high quality. Every time I watch one I'm tempted to try out the class. You're gonna make me have 6 tanks by the end of this saga haha
@@Silvitewolf I liked veng in dragonflight with all the sigils etc. but now it’s just purely like a 3 button spec. Talent trees seem just bad in my opinion too. But I do agree, fuck bears 🐻 🤣
Quazii, I’m pretty competent as a Prot Pally but I like to check out guides like this to see where I can improve. This video is fantastically informative and 100% accurate in its description. As I usually Pug Mythic+ I’ve been sold on Lightsmith but after listening to your description of Templar… I might give that a shot. Thank you again for an amazing video. ❤
@@Tyguy614 lightsmith is nothing special; just spam your extra button thats all. Templar requires planning per trash. Its fun when you see the dmg numbers and its easy to set up but, once things go bad you cant keep up with your holy power. Templar is good for your regular m+ team but i'd recommend lightsmith for pugs...
@@RidoDrago This. For sure. You can run into trouble using Templar a lot easier. It is a lot more fun, I'm finding, but survivability is easier as Lightsmith. Also, the holy power gains needed to upkeep shake the heavens can run us into problems with other survival CDs and issues. Chain pulling can more easily spell our downfall as Templar.
@@Bluefooted23fully agree. Did watch his Content now and it’s not even close to quaziis quality. I don’t want to diminish his expense but I wish there would be anything like quazii where someone goes through detailed how to healing in higher m+
I want to say thank you, because a lot of content creators would just say "Don't" as their guide for pallies, and i know they're not in a great place but i really enjoy them. So this is really nice to see.
Keep up the amazing work! Subbed my friend. I always have trouble with guides because I get lost. You lead people perfectly from the basic understanding into the depth and complexity of the build. Thank you.
I've been using your plater profile since season 1 or 2 of dragonflight. But this guide is also some top tier stuff. You not only made it seem interesting and fun enough to try, you broke it down in a way where it seemed simple enough to roll one and give it a go. Really enjoying Templar protpally, thanks for the guide!
another small advice for those, who wants to gear faster but do not like raiding: - farm honor until the m+ season starts to buy Vicious Bloodstone for 2500 honor each for future - farm and buy conquest gear as soon is become available, gear will be 597 ilvl with haste+vers which is a perfect secondaries combo for protpaladin - use Vicious Bloodstones to augment gear and put gems in
Recently picked up paladin tank, playing both the class and the role for the first time. One thing I would like to add is that it's so much fun to play!
idc what anyone says, as a 3400 io pally alt tank, im telling you, templar is goated. just pretend eye of tyr is now = runic weapon, aka pop it on every pull early, do insane dmg. im regularly doing 1.5 million dps in heroic like stonevaults.
I still haven't decided which "Shield Bearing" tank should I play the most on. Any suggestions please? I love Prot Pallies for all those extra interrupts I can do being mostly in PuGs but I have seen and have done heroic dungeons on Warrior and had a blast! Meanwhile, Bear gonna do Bear-able things as usual and I will play my Bear tank at least in low keys and see how far up I can go.
Amazing guide man !!! i just have one question, what are u doing to keep ur shield of righteousness up all the time ? i have been strugglin with it since the wwt launch, my haste is at 17%, i may be doing something wrong so if u have any tips ill be much appreciated o/
I haven't played prot paladin or even tanked since season 1 of shadowlands and I only played one month of it. I feel like I can't hit any other button than a holy power generator and righteous shield other than consecration when I have to move. Is that how other people feel?
All we need for templar is for avengers shield to extend shake, that way we can throw out avengers shield resets for aoe dps. Additionally, dont tie the ability to eye of tyr, just make it a stand alone ability like in lightsmith. Having to use eye of tyr in situations when you dont need it is seriously detrimental.
I love prot paladin. So it pains me to say I re-specd to Ret. What had me change? Well, it always felt like I was hitting with a pool noodle, but I could deal with it. I figured Hammer of light gives me at least some offensive power. Then you could understand how pissed I was when I found out that Ret gets to use hammer of light every 30 seconds because it's triggered by wake of ashes, but Prot only gets to use it once a minute because it's triggered by eye of tyr. How is that even close to being fair? If you are reading this, I'd love to know if blizzard did this on purpose, or are just apathetic about how they balance different classes? So, I'm sadly now just another DPS toon. There is always a complaint about needing tanks and healers, this type of thing only pushes more people over to dps.
Templar paladin in my experience is much easier than I think you are making it out to be. Eye of tyr defensive bonus is excellent for M+ where you always pull as much as you can -> then you unleash a LOT of dmg for a tank especially with divine toll if the pull was too big (as Avenger shield dmg also puts abarrier on you) So the entire basic loop is to -> pull as much as you can (WITHIN REASON) -> pop EoT and then smack the hammer down and do the rotation and the game does the rest. Divine toll also puts a CHUNKY barrier on you as avenger shield dmg barrier talent counts for it too. Both of these have 45 sec cd (as I like the CDR on divine toll and not shooting of AS) which are very short And you still havent used 4 of your cds for defense (with Sentinel its also offense) All in all paladin tank is pure monster that has excellent well knit kit that works, with amazing several one button run savers. Lay on hands, BoP, Bubble, BoS all of these save runs and I learned to use healbot on all paladin specs for maximum usage of my kit.
Wish they are gonna fix it before season 1 , I tried prot warrior for abit and it’s definitely fun but I find myself gravitating still to the prot paladin 😢
One thing is messy in my head, ig i pop EoT and i have the hammer window with shake the heavens, the goal is to weave as much hammer as i can , but during that window all of my holy power consumed by the hammer and none is left for the Shield of Rightneouses, do i need to weave some shield or i need to use that window only to push the hammers?
I would love to Main prot paladin but it feels so bad at the Moment and on beta I feel like Paper and you need to play soooo fast to Keep up with the required holy Power Generation to even Keep up my defensive
All I've heard is that they are supposed to be quite far behind most other tanks. However, I love playing them and don't plan on getting r1. Are they still considered amongst the worse option for pugs in the 10-15 range? Generally speaking and guessing. :)
I wouldn't worry about it right now, there will likely be quite a lot of tuning over the next few weeks so it's hard to say how things will be in a month.
Trying to find blast hammer in my spellbook :) Pretty sure prot pals gonna be watching M+. Prob the same as ret pals who are back to the bench after one season.. Maybe Hpals? Blizz just hates paladin
there was a lot of doom and gloom about prot pallies being quite behind (even by Dorki and other reputable tanks) - is this still true or perhaps not as bad as originally thought? Love from a fellow +65er
Wouldn't put too much stock in it. It may not be "top tier" but it's not unplayable, it's likely to get buffed if it's too far behind, things will change once tier is in play, etc...
@@Average_Bradit’s about as unplayable as a spec will be allowed to be in modern WoW. It’s pretty terrible tuning wise and it’s hero talents are beyond clunky. IMO it’s worse than DF S1 bear or brew, and playing those felt like soft trolling my keys.
@@brabhamF1 If you don't like it, don't play it. My point is, a competent player should have no problem completing keys with it. Furthermore, how a spec performs in the preseason of a brand new ex-pac isn't a very accurate representation of how it will perform even a few weeks from now. Play what you enjoy playing as the "strongest" spec can and will change based on a myriad of factors.
It's one of the things I really enjoy about prot pala, you have many answers to many problems, you can use them one by one, or you can stack them if something heavy is incoming. It makes us more versatile.
@@Yattayatta I always thought tanks and healers should be easier to play since the their roles are already pretty involved. Especially since they are always scarce.
@@affirazer I can see where you are coming from, but for me as a full time tank though I really enjoy playing the more difficult specs, the puzzle of how to sequence my CDs is sort of what keeps me tanking. If every spec was guardian druid I would honestly not find any enjoyment in tanking. I think it's okay for some specs to be easy going and others to be a bit more complex.
@@Yattayatta Agreed, I've had my healer friend in my group say "Oh shit man Im stunned" and me, the tank, turns around and throws a heal to a DPS and another heal to my healer buddy while im tanking.... versatility is key as a pally tank, not "tankiness"
