I remember gearing for prot in season 1 dragon flight just for blizz to nerf it into garbage all because of pvp whiners. All that effort and time for that bullshit.
If they did this and it was streams of blood that encases around the dk I think would be sick af plus make it easy for you and others to see it’s uptime outside another WA
No one is ever going to pick the cooldown reduction for reapers mark because it removes an exterminate charge. Its not even close to being worth losing that charge for the cdr.
Don't say no one, not everyone minmaxes for the highest keys possible. I can easily imagine a lowet CD being worth the dip for more fun. I'm the kind of player who ends Skyrim with a thousand health potion so i also tend to hold on to big CDs for too long as to not waste them. I get the appeal and not everything has to be competitive
Thank you for commenting on what these changes actually mean. Most creators just read the notes and close curtain. I had the same hunch that this was just the beginning too, they're really pushing to make the game enjoyable for any class this expansion and these constant changes show that.
Consecrated ground was not removed. It was moved to the class tree. Don't get too excited. Templar still has mechanical problems. The buff to wog is good and the judgement cd reduction is actually the same because seal of alacrity got removed and it's actually a nerf with 4% haste removed (it wasn't on the patch notes so may be a bug. SoR talent is duplicated atm). But without it, there will be no lower CD on judgement and higher HP generation. It might also help to get the talent that increases the armor of SoR with the new pathing. Can take Divine purpose and divine resonance at the same time now too. I just think it will bring it more in line with the others. Probably still not enough to get out of the bottom spot of the meta. This is definitely not over as the SoR talent is duplicated atm and i expect changes to templar. Btw i have not tested, but based on description Sentinel should work the same as before. But, this will not shake any meta as it stands.
Quazii, I'm only 7 mins in to your video and I'm struck by something you said a month or 2 ago about the tanks. You explained why you don't do Tier lists and why it's so important to play what class/spec you enjoy since changes happen and what's meta today could be forgotten tomorrow. Personally, I'm strictly casual and I like all the tanks for various reasons. I'm no M+ superstar or Mythic Raider but I've always followed the advice you have given for years: Play what's fun, don't chase Meta. Thank you as always for being so helpful and informative!
Especially as a tank, fuck the meta. You have all the power to find a healer you vibe with to form a team if you want and even if not, tanks are always in demand, no matter the class.
Lay on Hands might be a new huge defensive. With all the cdr talents in the class and prot tree, im thinking you can get the cd down to 3m, and under 2.5 as we scale. With that, you get close to 75% phys dr for 30s, which might be the strongest tank cd in the game. Really depends how much you have to give up with those 3-4 points. On the downside, it seems like they're killing sentinel, because there's never a scenario where you'd pass up on that much damage, even super high keys, since you'll probably miss the timer with that low of tank damage anyway.
I am a new player who just started playing less than 2 months ago and I have fallen in love with playing a Protection Paladin. These changes to Protection Paladin are cool and seem to help me in a lot of areas I have been struggling in. Also thanks to this video I just found out about mouseover casting! I am very excited for it all. Great video!
Offtopic question regarding profressions, as I cant find answers anywhere. 1. How are chars with 2 collecting profressions supposed to find artisans acuity, is getting 10 from the weekly capped knowledge loot the only way and do we not get a weekly for it anymore as we need it for blue profession gear and buying knowledge? 2. I maxed profression gear tree on my leatherer but crafted myself the profession chest piece before that. Using best possible materials a new craft would come out as t4, t5 if I use concentration, while a recraft only allows to reach t3 and t4 if I use concentration. That doesnt make much sense to me. any advice?
Getting 5 per knowledge point received and including weeklies and the treatise you can craft you get 11 KP per profession weekly I think. So blue tools will take a couple of weeks per tool unfortunately.
Thistle Tea auto proccing at 50 energy is a really bad change IMO. You're basically losing some control over it and you're gonna get punished for using your energy when you want to save Thistle Tea charges for like a boss or something. I'm not a fan of this change. I do appreciate the sentiment of reducing button bloat.. and I could see how some see it as incentive to train yourself to pool your energy... but I think it's going to be kind of annoying to HAVE to play around it or risk running out of energy when you really need it + not have the mastery buff when you really want it for kingsbane/vendetta... instead of just having it as a tool in your back pocket. I do like the Cut to the Chase talent change though -- this is something we've wanted for a long long time. The change to Ravage is nice, but they didn't address any real issues with the spec. It does good damage, and bigger Ravage Window is a great thing... but I don't think forcing players to slow down their rotation is really all that enjoyable right now, nor does it feel rewarding. It kinda feels like they just don't want Feral to be fun right now.. and when you play it in a way that is fun -- you just run outta energy and don't have any good ways to get it back. The changes to Fel-Scarred probably needed to happen. Vengeance tanks were doing 2-3 million DPS with Demon Surge because it's uncapped AOE damage. This is prolly gonna negatively affect Havoc, but honestly I've been having so much fun with Havoc the last few days that I don't think the nerf is gonna change that. Havoc is just really really fun to play, I'm usually having a blast with it even when I'm not doing the most damage and I think that's a huge indicator that it's in a fantastic spot. I'm kinda surprised they reworked Paladin again already. I really hope they give Feral another look too. Boomkin getting all those changes is interesting, right now they seem REALLY overtuned from what I've seen in dungeons. Hopefully they end up in a good place/fun to play. The Enhance changes sound REALLY cool though. I'm super excited about all the Doom Winds changes / Visual / Audio ques. I love that they're doing that so much. I think a lot of classes need this on some of their abilities. Personally I don't really appreciate the mentality of "Shaking up the Meta" -- I'd hope the goal is to not have a meta. Shaking up the Meta suggests they're artificially creating disparity in which specs are good in order to manipulate the playerbase. That implies to me that if you're not FotM, then Blizzard intentionally sabotaged your spec. I'm gonna hold judgement and let them cook though. The 20th anniversary patch is gonna be pretty epic, and I think they've earned some slack / time to cook if this is the kinda thing they're doing with their time behind the scenes.
That change affecting havoc will take them out of mythic+ for the most part. Specially when aoe is the only thing they actually good at in regards to vengeance. On the havoc side that is a huge cut in damage. Melee is already not in a great spot for m+ due to certain mechanics being so much better as ranged. Fixates and such. Make there damage normal and it kinda defeats the purpose of having them.
With the talents I’d like to see it were you can put those last ten points maybe in hero talents but maybe also just go full paladin. May 7 points in a hero but have 3 for left for regular paladin.
So happy with the Paladin changes, especially cause their buffing their blessings. That’s really what makes Paladin stands out is their utility.. being able to help my allies survive after making a misplay feels so good
This patch could shake things up quite a bit! 😮 I wonder how it will affect the group dynamics in M+. I'm all in for trying out the new builds! Just hope the Prot Paladin stays fun to play. +1 for the links as well, super handy! 🔗✨
@@joeym3147 it will probably just Change the rota a little, but without the cast time in mind it will be smoother to play I guess. Guess we have to test it first.
I think it's actually kinda bad. It basically removes some of your agency over when the charges are used / forces you to play around the knowledge that if you drop under 50 energy on trash you're gonna lose a charge of Thistle Tea for a boss window. It kinda removes some of your ability to fly close to the sun with your energy for fear of losing a charge of Thistle Tea. I could see how the devs would think that was engaging gameplay.. but I'm not a fan of the change personally. I think it's gonna reward bad behavior for players who aren't using it for the mastery buff without really making it clear they're being punished. You really don't want it to ever go off on it's own unless you're intentionally hovering around 50 energy during your burst window to trigger it -- which seems harder to control intentionally. It could be good incentive for some new players to train themselves to stay over an energy threshhold though, so that your DoTs can deal extra damage from the talent that eats your energy for extra dam on DoT ticks... It makes you think a bit which I guess is good. I wanna like it, but I also don't like anything that has the potential to take my agency away. I like the idea of reduced button bloat. Guess we'll have to see how it plays out over time. Maybe they're on to something? The Cut to the Chase change is amazing though.
Not really. From what I'm seeing the changes aren't game changing. Prot paladin basically gets more utlility (oh wow....) It's still gonna be squishy. And the rest are roughly around the same as well. Nothing is too big imo.
I love that Blizz shakes up the meta. I agree with what they do. They did a fantastic job in S1 of DF where basically any spec was viable up to maybe 1 key level less than the pros. However... what they did in S2... and their complete lack of tuning in S3 and S4 of DF... I am concerned that they will do the same thing. Where the only "fun" season was S1 and the rest is just back to Meta Slaving...
It's like that because of stat scaling. Some classes get exponentially stronger with a single increased stat, others don't. Like disc priest being extremely reliant on haste and vers both, so it's going to be bottom tier early xpac, and probably mid to top tier end of xpac. But prot warrior has a 100% block chance ability, and the most amount of armor and uptime on active mitigation, so they are pretty strong defensively through the entire xpac, but things start to catch up to it later on and warrior damage can't keep up so they fall off mid to late xpac generally. I dont think blizz actively wants to shake up a meta, but rather bring things in line with one another. However, Blizzard can't stop this issue from coming up because they won't change their design philosophy.
Looking at the % of title holders you can see the rise and stay of demon hunter from seasons 2-4 of dragonflight. There will always be a meta but I recall one of those seasons being like 85% of the key holding tanks were DH.
@@matthewfraley4427 I totally get you. But im still worried. If its known that classes have scaling issues, then that is what tuning is for. That is why some classes get buffed/nerfed before, during and after every season. And they were very active with this in S1 of DF. And as a consequence, you had a very active meta. But since then they sort of stopped doing it. And you got exodia practically every season after that.
As nice as the Paladin class changes are, it really just keeps the exact same problems but presents them in a slightly different way. Many of the nodes that would be nice are still impossible to get to, Protection's survivability is still going to be trash, etc. I really hope they announce more changes before it launches.
Really disappointed in the dps of a balance druid, especially after playing a ret pally and havok dh - theres no competition at all! Terrible survivability on a boomkin, too. When doing quests and coming across a normal rare, I usually need someone else around to help, so I sit and wait for someone to show up and start attacking it lol. Pretty surprising really. I think I will just use that char for gathering herbs unfortunately.
Prof pally was over nerf in per patch to current. I can easily tank half the room on my Druid no issues while my pally is having to use very CD and could barely survive
Off-Topic:There was this video with camera hacks and command console for sharper graphics, could someone link it for me?Lost the config after re-install
Completely reworking frost hero talent leaving unholy alone.... Someone at Blizzard HATES frost and doesnt want anyone playing it. That's why they didn't make any changes to the other blood hero talent.. it wouldnt effect frost.
Hot take (surely), but RWF should not have any impact whatsoever on any changes that blizzard wants to make. If they do something that cripples the absolute degenerate who leveled 27 variations of 1 class to get 1% more damage due to RNG gearing then tooooo fucking bad.
The only thning specifically for the RWF guilds are the last bosses of the raid...otherwise there are hundreds of guilds going into Mythic and thousands going into Heroic day 1 that same tuning affects.
How does it feel to play BDK for you? I feel like it's so boring with the low haste values and thinking of not getting better as haste is not a good stat anymore feels really bad. Also I would like to play San'layn, but picking that tree feels like I am just hurting myself compared to deathbringer. After like 8-10 seasons of maining it I am thinking of changing the main / swapping to dps as the other classes seem to be so much more fun (mountain thane warrior, templar paladin or vengeance). Nice video btw! ;)
I honestly feel kind of in the same place. I love frost DK it's been my favorite dps spec since WOTLK but I'm getting kind of bored of BDK. I keep looking at other tanks trying to find a dps/tank combo I can main.
Idk .. I still don't see how VDH will not be the meta tank. Casters are too good as always so no point of playing anything else that is not VDH if you are trying to be optimal.
They balanced VDH really good in season 3, except some minor things like the throw glaive talent before soul bomb being useless as well as soul barrier and soul extraction. And yeah, obv. double sigils should only count for flame and misery. I hated the double sigil because I know it would get the spec nerfed to the ground (only took 1 year to fix lol). Sigil of silence is so shit now.
Just to mention it, you can play every class in every spec its just about Mythic Raiding and Mythic+ Highest keys. every other thing is easy achiveable. The only prolbem people are to stupid to understand and dont take you in the group. The other thing is keeping a meta fresh without even have any makes no sense yet
Guardian is hilarious. It's the most simplistic tank in the game whilst all being very tanky. You run in put up some moon fires thrash spam iron fur and use your main eloon cooldown. It's so simple and so easy that it's almost
they did say the event would last around 2 months, so im thinking maybe the patch goes live mid October, which would put the actual 20th anniversary in the dead center of the 2 month event cycle.
This is honestly kinda annoying. They should of had these classes mostly set for an expansion launch when we are trying to decide what we want to play....I guess I'll give the small Indy company a break.....
“We don’t shape the meta, we just release tier lists and help shape the playerbase perception of a class/spec” - the 1%. Can’t wait until prot warrior falls off and then I get declined from keys I’ve timed higher of cause a tank tier list says it’s “the worst”
Resto druid needs 1. flourish moving back to the verdant infusion choice node and prosperity to the photosynthesis choice node. 2.archdruid need to have rng removed while its spread rejuv not gain talent bonuses as balance 3. Windstalker resto needs a cat castable swift mend trigger instead of regrowth for resto. This would create a prepull setup so cats can manage uptime, setup mini ramps via reforestation convoke while keeping the undergrowth cleave setup we have been using.
Maybe I'm crazy, but the prot pally changes seem like an extreme nerf. They basically removed all the best talents at the end of the class tree, (seal of order), and replaced them with almost useless and/or niche options. I don't play prot pally, so i don't think this is my bias talking, but it really seems like the spec has been totally gutted here. And it was already hurting.
I just really hope it doesn’t end up like Dragonflight where Prot Warrior is strong at first but then Prot Paladin ends up doing everything a Prot Warrior can do, plus utility.
Not tank related, but I'd really appreciate them reworking lone wolf on Hunter so that we can take a pet and give the group lust and not feel like we're missing out on personal damage.
I think you might be wrong Avenging Wrath. The notes state that Avenging wrath now has the crit in avenging wrath baseline and might is removed. That talent tree on Wowhead I think is inaccurate and avenging wrath on the left side is still there, it just now has the crit baseline attached it it...and on the right side, sentinel will just be the only option since might was removed. Anyone else showing or reading it that way also?
What do the changes mean for those of us that just want to do low to mid-level M+ with PUGs? There's a segment of us that just want to have fun and don't care about high-end Mythics.
Any class and spec is more than capable of pushing any key, at any level, at top level, things like group composition or what's broken dictate more what's viable and whatnot, one of the best tanks I know has always played what he's found fun, and most of the time that's a tank that isn't in the top 4 of most people's "tier lists" ... pugging will always be pugging, sub par casual players wanting broken meta groups to guarantee their key
@@SuperJetco - well... most of the PUGs I've done could do low and mid-level M+ but once you get above 6 or 7, it's not unusual to fail keys on time even if the group stays together and finish the run.
Seems to me actually prot paladin won't really change. All i'm really seeing is a ton of utility. NO avengers shield generation hjoly power? No extra holy power generation? NO extended shield of the Rietous during? still 3 seconds costing 3 holy power with a low cap? While prot warrior has shield block up for 26 seconds?
Yeah I was thinking the same. Not saying these aren't good changes, but it doesn't solve the worst problem Prot Paladin has (imo), which is very poor holy power generation until you get 40%+ haste. This again makes it feel very spammy/stressfull because you feel like every GCD spent not generating holy power, is gonna get you killed in a few seconds. All they have to do is increase the baseline SotR duration by 1,5-2 seconds and maybe put HP generation back to Avenger's Shield.
I am only about 5 mins in, but with warbands and the changes leveling an alt has never been easier. All the renown gear is purchasable with a currency you can farm on your main. That just gives you a jump, with the launch of season 1 the heroic gear will be 580 which is enough to get into normal raid. If you use the patch notes on how your main will change, it's a good jump off point. You can level them now during the low time, then slowly gear them. If you just chip away at the gearing slowly over the next 8 weeks you would have a 2nd character fully functional and raring to go.
With the nerf of interrupt for the NPC. Paladin will be the go to for interrupt. There's so many interrupt to do add to that using the CC to control the affix :/
TBH, Blizzard always sucks, these tuning should be always finalised b4 new expansion. They should never make any major change after an expansion after players picked their main and efforts input their main characters. At the end of day, it’s a just game, nothing worthwhile for major time input, out of interest at all👎
I was very disappointed to find out that the Blood DK Deathbringer hero talent with the nice blood axe hero talent image uses a frost scythe for it's display action. Why design a blood axe image if you are too lazy to even update the scythe from frost to blood depending on the spec accessing the hero talent, let alone that it's a scythe and not an axe?
I wish they would just forget about paladin, dk and vengeance for 1 expansion. TWW will just be those same 3 tanks as meta for every season and quite frankly it’s boring.
Sun Lion is my favourite hero spec. Jokes aside, if you want some help with the pronunciation think of 'Layn' as the word slain, but without the S. San-lain. Glad to see the Paladin changes, I'm still holding out for tuning though!
