I wonder why they chose the white design for the Max3 and didn't go one step further and make it match exactly the stone-gray color of the display. This would look awesome, a bit more like an actual sheet of paper, instead of paper inside a frame. It would also look less cramped when you display a document with border settings at zero and the overall screen would look bigger. We've seen this effect with many smart watches that have a smaller screen than the lunette diameter.
Thats why Remarkable 2 has better aesthetics. Dunno why they don't just make the bezels the same color as the screen since the goal is to replace paper anyway. The black bezels just make it look like any other tablet.
Have a search on line, Onyx claims they're readying the version 3.0 firmware for Max 3 and a couple of other models. Man I'm excited. It's helped me a lot to have that almost book feel rather than printing or laptop screen. Would be lovely to have a front light, but I'll go without that for a while
Noo.. We want the white Max 3 back!!!! Anyday better than the Lumi..... But I am wondering, why would anyone want to screen cast a black and white eyestrain-free screen, on possibly an LED TV or something?
why screencast: I think that's mostly useful for presentations. Like if you are giving lessons in front of an audience and need to feed a beamer/projector. At least, I read someone asking for screencast for that reason.
Hosam Mansor hell yea both are a day and night difference. The snapdragon 636 contains 2 [edit - 4] (bigger) performance cores while the older one are merely power-efficient cores. I’m surprised this was not mentioned in the video?
@@Tobias_world What about the memory, I read that is different too... Any idea if that is faster too, if yes by how much? Also can we go by Onyx's claim that the new processor is more power efficient compared to the previous one?
Utsav V I’m not sure about the memory as I have not read in-depth on it. However it is true with Onyx’s claim that the newer processor are not only faster than the older ones, but are also more power efficient (when performing task). To me, I’m really excited with this cpu upgrade as this is equivalent to going from a “barely usable experience”(older cpu) to a decent experience(newer cpu) while using applications.
Utsav V yea it’s like if i want lights blasting towards me during prolonged reading, i’ll stick with my laptop’s screen just fine thanks. I’m waiting for a non-backlight option. Fingers crossed they’ll release more options soon.
4:03 That B-roll shot really reminds me of that warm fuzzy feeling I get when reading graphic novels that are in colour on my Likebook Mimas at night with little to no lighting… even though I usually don't mention that as I imagine that the authors wouldn't really want their books to be read in greyscale unless they're already I'm greyscale.
The screen protector is important, it's difficult to apply as very large, but if one get tips online and has a little experience, it not only protects the screen surface, it can also change the writing feel. So, I'd be interested to know if the protector on the Lumi helps the writing, I think it did for my Max 3. When the pen tip gets a little work and frayed, it also helps..... Maybe needs the edges shaved off, but helps the feel of writing. Very great tablets, I really respect Onyx, though the side by side feature should have been in the Max 3 already, it's an important feature for any table, E-ink or not
I'm curious about the difference of reading experiences between these two. Would the extra layer of glass reduce the contrast and make characters less sharp and clear?
Max 3 split screen is much more limited. From my experience, I can only do a book/book or book/notes split. The Lumi can handle 3rd party apps side-by--side with books. This should be immensely useful in my case because I constantly search things on the browser while reading textbooks.
Onyx boox max tablets do not work with airturn (105, 106 or 200), pageflip or donner pedals- it is not possible to get them to work reliably. When you contact onyx they will say buy their own pedal which is a worthless gimmick- it has a back button between the two pedals that if you were to tap it by mistake in a performance would remove the score you are using from view- could not be a worse design. So if you want good Bluetooth page turning with eink you're out of luck no matter how many dollars you waste on onyx products. They do *not* have Bluetooth as advertised.
@@الكتابوالسنة-ح4ش thanks for the answer, but that wasnt the question. i was asking about the whiteness of the screen, indepently of the glow light. It seems the screen is the same and its just a visual effect from the black bezels.
I am looking for a device to take notes, read eBooks or even read aloud function, important apps like google, LinkedIn etc should also work. Can anyone help me with some advice? iPad Pro I do not like becouse of the reflective surface and it does not feel like an eBook-Reader. Thanks a lot, Joseph
