The Note 5 has a fingerprint scanner in the power button, a plastic screen, no G sensor, and a glass back on it. Comparatively the Air 2 has no fingerprint scanner, has a glass screen, does have a G sensor, and has an aluminum alloy back on it.
@@timurkhomiakov8559 Well, it's hard to answer which one is better. The equipment is so similar that it all depends on personal - subjective preferences. Personally, I chose the Note 5 because of the fingerprint reader. I don't feel the lack of g sensor because I rarely need to rotate the screen -- you can do it in the Note 5 manually in the menu (quickly and efficiently). I protected the screen with a protective film that does not affect typing and so far I am very satisfied.
I bought one for studying 3 months ago. I hardly use it because it is not user friendly at all. Everytime I use it I get frustrated. It freezes, shots down, is slow, difficult to sync with mac and the navigation is not intuitive. My main purpose was to use it for reading PDF's but I still haven't found a system to keep the files organized and sync my marks with the computer. When I try to use it for study I spend half of the time to try to make it work and waste too much time. It is really nice to read on for the eyes, but it is way more organized and faster to read on the computer.
Another fine review, Peter! Thank you. Voya's unboxing sold me on a replacement for the RM2. (Having purchased an RM1 and an RM2, I hold no more hope that RM team will ever shift to a customer friendly stance in how they do business. I have freed my self of both!). My Onyx Boox Note Air 2 will perfectly meet my reading and note taking regimen. BTW, thanks for Good Ereader response to my purchase. The Note Air 2 is due to arrive by DHL Friday after Thanksgiving Day in the USA. Keep up the great work with the reviews.
I like the review but i disagree about the stylus. I haven't tried the Air1 but the Air1 is excellent to write on and the stylus feels very well balanced
Not a fan of the side bar design or logos on the front. Way too distracting. It’s suppose to be a device for focus and thinking. But i like the idea of using a writing/reading tablet and having access to other apps from the App Store like Libby or one note or art programs potentially. Makes me wonder what a game or videos look like on this.
Please.. case is not nice! Looks exactly the same like the one for air1, only colors are different. After few months of using it ALL corners got broken on the plastic and front material part on the corners is scrathed off. Basically after few months the case looks like crap.
Onyx need to improve the quality of the Note Air cases.. My case showing cracks on all 4 corners just after one week of normal use! I love the tablet but not the quality of the case! 😡
There are thousands of problems with Google Play on this device. It is almost impossible to download it. Although I saw many instructions on how to fix it, it still does not work, so I decided to give it back to the store.
I find your choice to change the camera angle to be interesting, as it reminds me of when I did my own videos of my Likebook Mimas when I got mine back in 2019, as I didn't have a working video editing setup. I got my BOOX Note Air2 today, but won't be doing my own coverage as I'm busy working on new content for my RU-vid channel, that the tablet will help me to create!
Thanks for the review...my note pros battery just crapped out so I ordered the air 2; it will be interesting to see how much faster this will be. I am a heavy one note user so stoked about finally being able to use it on the boox. Exciting times.
I am actually more keen on getting software and updates for the device other than the hardware. Especially based on the releasing speed of Onyx boox, that we cannot just update device every year for minor improvements, but to get software updates for ar least a couple of years on these expensive devices.
Question. I'm considering a device almost exclusively to read manga and comic books from subscribe service apps such as VIZ or Comixology. At this price point, should I pick this up or something like an iPad for the additional functionality that the ipad has.
Thank you for the review. Could you please comment on your writing experience (compared to Remarkable 2)? I also noticed you have Autodesk Sketchbook installed - how does this work? Thank you in advance. You helped me a lot already making some of my note taking decisions.
Thank you for the review! What is the experience in uploading the backup fromnote air 1? Moreover, how are the performances of th OCR function? In note air 1 it takes hours to search for something handwritten...
All seem to be crappy, there is no much choice. although I'm dissatisfied with this original case, at least it has the feature of stand for the tablet which I use every day. There is another "pro" case, material looks better but it doesn't have the basic feature, you can only insert the tablet in it and in order to use it you need to take it out completely.. so hopefully they will improve those cases...
I got the device and upgraded the software, too. Enabled Google Play Store - but, Google says this is NOT a Play Protect Certified device! What is up? Can anyone explain this? No where in any of these videos does it explain that this device will be not work with Google because it is not Play Protect Certified. Am I at risk using this device? Can it be Play Protect Certified?
Great review. I am frustrated with a few of the limitations of my RM2, and I am looking for alternatives. A few questions: 1. Can you copy selections from PDFs? Like, if I wanted to circle a paragraph out of an article and move that selection to a notebook where I preserve all my notes, can I do that? 2. Can I create links from within the device that go from one page to another page or from one document to another document?
I am having a hard time finding out what the apps do. Can I play mp3 music files or watch mp4 videos? How does the file management work. The reviewer peter was very knowledgeable but for someone like myself whom has limited experience with e readers he was very fast and didn't cover some things I wanted to find more information on.
Hi. I just ordered this today. You mention on this video there is a sleeve for a case. In your unboxing there is none. Will I receive one in the box? I was going to buy a case but maybe the sleeve is enough. Great videos! I’m trying to learn more now that I have actually purchased it 😁
@@goodereader thanks for replying so quickly. I actually ordered it from Amazon. Should be here tomorrow. Super stoked! I hope it has a sleeve but if not, I’ll pick up a case. Thanks!!!
@@goodereader thanks, takin you up on your offer. I got the note air 2 but it didn’t come w a sleeve or case. What are the best cases or methods to be able to hold this one handed? It’s heavier than I thought. I don’t want to go sticking tape on the back of such an expensive device 😉 but can’t find too many cases w a band for the hand. Actually can’t find any. 😄 Suggestions?
thks for the wonderful review.....I want a device for lots of strain free and fast typing....I need to know whether onyx boox note air 2 has a good speech to text....also I want to know whether onyx boox nova air have speech to text as that one saves some money for me....also if there is any other cheaper and better device available in the market for my purpose...your response will be appreciated...thanku😊
Just wondering about your notes, can you access wirelessly and quickly on the computer? I often takes some drawings and notes that I then want to sent to a colleague or back it up. Also, I would be interested to know if there some way to automatically process my drawing as shapes? Like if you draw something that looks like a circle, it automatically transform it in a circle, same for square or text(a bit like Microsoft Whiteboard)
Great review -- although my biggest question got only a brief comment, that is, how close to pen+paper is the note taking experience? This is the deal-breaker for me. I have a great little A6X but the lack of resistance when writing takes some getting used to and is suboptimal compared to a good gel pen and paper.
my only concern is, if I bought this for sketching, and maybe adding clipart to the drawing like your example. what will happened if I export the drawing and view it on PC, will it stays black and white (grayscale) or suddenly has a big red car in the middle of it?
The RU-vid Division and store department are completely separate facets of good eReader in different countries You'll have to email the store for any information Store@goodereader.com
I am not able to run any Google related apps on my device and I am not able to access any of my books in Google drive ....each time I open it it says that device is not certified for for Google apps .. What should I do ??
You have to enable google in the device. Go to apps -> right top corner -> app management -> enable google play. Also below that there is option to bind with Google account. If I remember well that was enough, but if not, you will find this answer in manual or in help section on their website.
@@AnHeC sorry for the delay. It was VERY slow to load different apps and changing pages. Seemed sluggish, hard to navigate, no real home button without clicking through dialogue. Was just cumbersome to work through. As far as the pen to paper feel, that was nice. Everything else was aggravating, trying to use it as a functional school tablet. Accessing school websites and opening documents was miserable. There was always a compatibility issue. As far as note taking, it may have eventually worked, I got tired of trying to find a way to take notes on it that would save in an organized fashion.. I couldn't find a compatible way to download school notes/powerpoints and make functional notations and save them as a pdf/docx. It really didn't have a place in my backpack for school, everything an iPad or galaxy tab can do better besides being a Paperwhite screen.
Right, but it isn't The air 1 pen had conical nibs with a higher accuracy. Also, there was a gap between the bottom of the nib and the housing to allow for flex to give you a more accurate feel. So the air 1 is much better than the 2. The 2 also doesn't make sense because the pen also comes with devices that it doesn't even snap to. It's just thrown in with everything in the latest line.
@@goodereader I was hoping air2 pen is better as pen from air1 is super ugly 😁 and the tip randomly collapses inside a little bit during writing and its really annoying..
You know for the price of this you can get yourself an actual tablet that those the same things with all the bells and whistles! And use that as a note taker, That this lesser tablets have. How they come up with these outrages prices for something that looks outdated while we have top of the line tablets already is beyond me! How are you going to pay more for less? Any regular tablet even the bad ones from wish (had to go there) can do the same thing better and more powerful and they cost way less! It's smart shopping when you can buy a cheap but good tablet (like samsung older models) just for taking notes! This way you don't have to use your regular one for these types of things and save up on memory space! You can Do like i do just leave on your study table and it will be there waiting for you when you needed it!
