This girl is not even real..She is just a reflection of our imagination and she is living inside a state of our collective consciousness. I am not stoned by the way...
Her voice is electric, it's energy, there's a swelling throughout and a nice glide down over views of mountains and pines and empty highways there's a montage of the sun peeking through the tops of trees...
The impact from The Doors on Opal and Mazzy Star is pretty evident. First time I heard an actual Doors cover by Hope Sandoval. And one of my favorites. Couldn't be more awesome to hear her sing it!
I've seen Hope cover Syd Barrett, heard her with Chemical Brothers and with Air. This woman is so amazing I can't believe I've never seen this before. Fuck this is the most amazing thing
@@no_wire_hangers Yeah, just found it. Nicely done. What I'd really like to hear was for them to do "Late Night," also from Syd, but ( :~( ) Dave Roback died last year, so it'll never happen with Mazzy Star and a guitarist who could do the beautiful bottleneck part for that song.

I saw them 1988 at the Rote Fabrik in Zürich, the Sound was not as good as here, but her Voice came through. But I think it was Opal in Name only. It was the Beginning of Mazzy Star.
The Doors? Maybe. The Velvet Underground? Definitely. The prominent droning organ. The fuzzy noodling guitar. The simple singular Mo Tucker style drums. The overall psychedelic trippy sound. Classic child-of-the-Velvets sound!
Okay! Thank you so much! I'm really getting into Opal again and I'd really love to hear a good quality version of some of the songs off of early recordings 2. It wouldn't let me reply for some reason btw so that's why it's up here.
+Dylan Parks I have the Opal '45 of "Indian Summer". The Opal video I've posted on youtube of "Indian Summer" is sourced from Early Recordings Vol II, with a little eq. (I am getting ready to record a batch of vinyl, and will repost it soon in HD from the original vinyl. It will be posted to the Mazzy Star and Hope Sandoval Group on Facebook first. I will make sure you know). I have also posted an excellent video for "Freight Train" from a quality vinyl EP. *There is a Clay Allison promo cassette with quality versions of Sailing Boats (a favorite of mine), Lisa's Funeral and Vespers available on Discogs... for the low price of $277.70! www.discogs.com/Clay-Allison-Clay-Allison/release/7679417
@@uranderson "Sailing Boats" and four other unreleased tracks will be available on the re-release of Opal Early Recordings. It has been delayed due to David's passing, but will be available soon. I pre-orderd it awhile back, but nothing yet...
Please cover the Doors' The End...please, before you die. Obviously, the Oedipus angle needs artistically modifying for Hope, but they're creative and can think of an appropriate alternative angle. It would be awesome. The song was made for her!
