Good video that will help many people see how it is done. Minor point I was told by my Engineer / Father was to disconnect the Earth cable first, on dismantling, and last on replacement. This eliminated the chance of shorting against bodywork, as you put the other supply cable ON, which could possibly damage some component or ignite fuel / inflammable sprays, in the process. Small point but important. Thanks for your helpful video.
What a carry on just to change the battery. I just did it on a 2004 Corsa. Cut through the plastic bars on the scuttle to make it compliant and levered it out of the way. The battery retaining bolt needs about a hundred turns, then the socket falls off and into the well underneath. Fortunately the rubber drain flap allows access to retrieve it. Incidentally the pollen filter is situated underneath all that plastic, that's why it never gets changed at a main dealer service. Fifteen year old original battery wouldn't start the car the other morning so bought a replacement. Charged up the old and now it seems fit for another decade or two.
Thanks a lot! Fixed it, my car starts again. One question though: how does the clip to the right of the battery work? I think the bottom where the screw is attached to the plastic frame has broken in my corsa. Turning it for ages didn't really work, not even if I held the bottom plastic piece with a vice... It's not exactly right now, but the battery can't really move anyway. Its this a problem? Also, the attachment of the plastic hood wasn't fixed with a torx screw in my car. I had to use a socket wrench
thanks for this. Helpful +++. but after replacing the battery i see that rain comes through the grille and onto the battery . It must have been doing this before but rain on a battery doesn't seem good to me. The plastic flap doesnt seem to do much. Should i worry?
I'm going to guess that's a 12ml socket on a long extension bar to release the battery.. (could be 14mm who knows ) and I'm guessing it's a 10mm spanner to undo terminals...thanks for the video tho
Thats great! Thanks for making the video! (Just one question, what is the name of the tool to get down into the bonnet to unscrew the nut at the base of the battery?)
Kedves Zsinor Motors 1. Betehetek-e 55Ah kapacitásút, tölteni fogja-e a generátor? 2. Javaslod-e a magyarokat (Electric Power, Jász) vagy maradjak a jól ismert márkáknál pl. Bosch Köszönöm, minden jót!
In case anyone is wondering this works for the same as the vauxhall combo vans 2001-2012 Saves having to battle trying to get the window wiper arms off like the Haynes manuals suggest Many thanks!
I tried to take the bracket off but it just kept turning, so I had to force it up with a screwdriver a while turning, Its a plastic nut thats rounded off, so there is no way to tighten it up or get under it to put a metal nut on. I found a solution, put a wall plug in with a coach scew tightens up solid and easier to unsrew.
I'm stuck in the same situation (bolt on the plastic clamp-down at the base of the battery just spins). Been trying to use a screwdriver to force it up, but it's not working too well. Once I get it out, I'll use your wall-plug idea.

I tried it today but it didn't work for me. I followed your steps but I wasn't able to give away that plastic bar which covers the battery on the top. I just broke it a little bit.
@@tom4412 I finally found the way how to do it without any damage. Im not sure how to describe it, but if you're interested, I can try to record a quick shot of my approach.
@@denischlapek Yes please, that’s very kind of you. It’s just removing the trim that I’m struggling with.the one water jetter seems to be holding the trim down for me. No rush just when you’ve got time. I’m in Shropshire, how about you. I like your song covers by the way.especially the Angles cover.
@@tom4412 Ok, I'll try to manage my time to do it as soon as possible. I'm glad you like my covers, thank you. 🙂 I'm currently in Portadown, Northern Ireland. Anyway, if you would like, you can find me on FB.
@@denischlapek thanks, Northern Ireland- I guess I won’t be popping over to yours to see how to remove the battery trim then. Never mind. I found you on Facebook, I’m Tom Davies. Cheers.
