12:57, the caps were probably for slide pins for the caliper. Have to remove the caps then the slidepins. You can also just remove the whole assembly but as you are renovating it is is good to remove caliper slide pins, clean them etc. Also idk about kadets brakes at all but in this video front brake assemly is like this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ceu7izqHXfw.html and the pins have to be punched out to change pads etc.
