Rings of Power deciding to bring in a directing cast whose credits include Witcher season 2, Wheel of Time, Sandman and some drama shows for teen girls makes it clear how little these people pay attention to their customer base. The only reason they decided to have only female directors is so that they can call LotR fans misogynistic when the second season is even more hated than the first.
I'd rather Henry Cavill be a part of the beginning of Warhammer hitting the mainstream than yet another shot at a Superman movie, but I also do empathize with the loss of such a beloved Superman for the fans.
You guys should have The Little Platoon on more often. This is a great group. TLP has become like Morgan Freeman; I could listen to this guy read the phone book.
agreed... discovered platoon and disparu at the same time.. see them here and there.. mostly disparu.. and i wish it was flipped around.. i wish it was platoon making appearances/guesting more... dont get me wrong, disparu is alright.. but i like platoon more
@@seancallaway5204 Disparu is a guy that intentionally hates the things that the majority of the population enjoys just because he thinks it makes him smarter and cooler than everybody else. Even the things he claims to like he still points out tiny flaws in. It gets annoying after a while
@@slicedbread5692 Yeah, I watched one video where Disparu was on with the Drinker (I think maybe they were talking about "Andor") where he started ripping into a show and Drinker disagreed, stating he actually liked it. Disparu looked so crestfallen and tried desperately to "yeah but" his way through the conversation. He came across as a four-year old with nothing stronger than "You're a poopy-head" for an argument.
Discovery did a mansplaining scene where the guy gets killed as he's talking and no one cares. In another episode, they introduce a female character who dies in the same episode and they have an extended funeral scene with speeches and crying.
Great thing to hear that he’s part of Warhammer 40k, not just as the lead but also as an executive producer, this way he’ll make sure the studio sticks to the source material.
i look forward to these every week and im not even a movie enthusiast lol, i guess im just soooo starved of hearing normal opinions i appreciate it anywhere i can.
I’ll go as far as to say that the animation films they’ve released, that began with Flashpoint and ended with Justice League Dark Apokolips War, have been a great series of animated films that are exactly what the DCEU should have been! I think there’s like 20 something films that all tie together with a huge finish. They had those films to go off of and they still couldn’t get a proper live action film right. I seriously recommend watching the animated film series, on top of stand alone animated films that were based on comics like The Dark Knight Returns and the Death of Superman.
@@thechicagobox THIS - I've given up on the movies and just stuck with the animated films (both new and old) as well as the mini series or full lengthed animated shows. The movies are, just, shit.
why they didnt get Bruce Timm to have creative input is just a shame. Those are the characters I grew up with. The stories werent dumbed down for kids.
My loathing of Games workshop goes back to their destruction of the magazine White Dwarf back in the day......that and real badly sculpted flat looking Citadel Figures .....we lost so much.
Holy shiiiiiit!!! First, i forgot Gina and Henry were a thing; second, MAKE HER EPHREAL STERN!!!!! In the scenario of her getting into Warhammer show/movie make her THE most badass Sister of Battle!!!!
She could be Saint Celestine... Plenty of great roles she and other women can fill as long as they don't go full message (Heresy) which would be female space marines and primarchs...
01:48:48 exactly what I dread the most. 10 years ago, the announcement of a sequel or a new farscape series would have made me very happy. Now, I hope on the contrary that nobody touches it and that we leave this series alone, because I am 100% convinced that it would be completely massacred to be "adapted to a modern audience" (while it is already perfect as it is). So leave farscape alone.
The almost fatally ironic thing about the Rock's ill fated DC run is that it was the last, best chance to finally get Cavill back as Superman. WB in their infinite stupidity, never had any intention to bring him back, and remember too he was supposed to be replaced permanently by Mexican Supergirl in the Flash. It took the Rock and whatever muscle he had in Hollywood to literally strong arm them into letting Cavill cameo in Black Adam, and that was after going over Walter Hamada's head. To have kept Cavill, Black Adam NEEDED to be a huge hit. The fact that it wasn't was just another nail in Cavill's coffin. The studio simply never wanted him after they tossed Snyder. And speaking of Snyder, I'm hardly a huge fan of his. I think he's a director of a similar vein as George Lucas: what he's good at, he's good at but prone to over indulgence and excess if not checked by competent partners. That being said, he's spoken before on his vision for his DC films. He envisioned essentially, and I'm paraphrasing, a 5 film arc akin to a mythological epic. He never wanted to do an episodic, multi-phase approach like Marvel. It was supposed to go MoS->BvS->JL1->JL2->JL3. The studio however, started pressuring him as soon as they began production on BvS. Now I'm not saying his vision would have been good, but he did have one. It was never scatterbrained, random bullshit GO! Approach we got after BvS and Whedon's JL underperformed. At the end of the day though, I feel awful for Cavill. He's perfect for Superman, but the powers that be for whatever reason don't want him to be. I loved MoS, BvS, and ZSJL. He'll always be my Superman. As for Gunn, I have less than no hope for his DCU right now. I will preface that by saying he CAN win me back. If he puts his money where his mouth is and makes good film, with well casted characters, and uplifiting messages. No MCU clones. No overstuffing with corny humor. But I will say, he's not inspiring any confidence in me so far. He knew ditching Henry was going to cause an uproar, and rather than try and ease fans' concerns, he's instead gone the route of lassoing any and all criticism of his decisions as "tHe ToXiC fAnDoM", basically said he doesn't care what fans have to say, and that his vision is all that matters. Sorry, dude, no. So I've been a lifelong DC heroes fan. I grew up on all the animated series, The Keaton Batman films, etc. But methinks it's time to just unplug for a while.
These discussions are always a treat, I'm being serious, I've never felt bored listening to you guys talk for 3 hours, in fact I want more. I have these in a playlist on repeat when I'm driving to work or cooking dinner. LOVE IT!
Been wondering...why not send off Henry on a good note as as Superman? Like one last movie following the All-Star Superman storyline. It'd be perfect for Henry, he gets to play Superman at his best.
If they do come for Farscape I'm just imagining them extolling their virtue for including a strong female character forgetting (or never even watching the original) that Aeryn Sun exists.
Interesting how they call Black Adam an inoffensive movie, despite it clearly being racist against white men. Couldn't be happier that it bombed. Bounding into Comics sums it up nicely: "As for why the film isn’t raking in the cash, the film and its marketing made it clear it was embracing wokeness through its casting. The film features blatant woke casting including a race-swapped Hawkman played by Aldis Hodge and a race swapped Cyclone played by Quintessa Swindell. Swindell also claims to be a nonbinary trans actor despite that being an impossibility as humans are born either male or female." May I add that Johnson playing BA is a race swap because he himself is mixed race, whereas in the comics he's white. People are SICK of this racist and trans / LGBT crap.
The Netflix Advanced D&D Community removal is far worse 2:42:15 than indicated: they renumbered the episodes of Season 2 to attempt to remove all evidence that it ever was made
It took me 4 episodes, but I eventually arrived at Little Platoons state when it comes to watching Willow. I was super excited to the show since it was announced, its one of my favorite movies. After the first episode I was hurt. After the second episode I was angry. After the third episode I was crying. And after the fourth episode I was laughing. It broke my heart and really hurt me inside, BUT now I just dont care. And now that I dont care, its the funniest shit I have ever seen.

A huge reason Avatar did good was because it was the first real 3D movie you could see at the theaters or iMax. I remember that being the only reason me and my friends went to see it
@@Zontar82 Casino Royale is a masterpiece, easily the best film in thar series, (a film of the decade even) everything after it is so sub par it hurts.
Az rant around 19 minutes is effing epic! And perfectly spot on! Couldn't agree more. Shame it's gotten this bad. And couldn't feel worse for Henry Cavill.
I do believe Zack Snider can be an excellent cinematographer. But he should never be allowed near scripts. Batman vs. Superman was the best shot worse film of all time.
I dunno, I went and saw The Way of Water and loved all three hours of it. It's not for everyone, especially for anybody who doesn't like the original and is going in completely negative towards it.
Not to mention that Gunn peaked with the first Guardians movie. It was his best film and he hasn’t been able to catch that lightning in a bottle since.
Perhaps studios will actually starting making new stuff. Probably won't. But think of all the stuff that we have never seen, which could be insane to see. Risks and reward. New Line put 900mill on the line to make LoTRs, I would love to see Malazan book of the Fallen, The First Law trilogy, or some other epic fantasy. It would require very careful planning, great actors, insane budgets, and almost perfect writing to pull it off, but that's what people love - awesome stories done well.
2:00:00 here’s the thing, the FX in avatar are still some of the finest 3D in moviemaking. I actively despise 3D in 99% of all other movies. I’ll see ava2 because that quality of 3D FX is just that uncommon. Avatar 1 was the moving diorama to everyone else’s headache inducing magic-eye strobe n flicker.
Directors writing.... that's James Cameron. Then Peter Jackson dotted the exclamation point. But the difference is that they loved the source material and respected the lore above all else. That's the difference. Seeing a vision and having the the characters portay it... As apposed to portraying a vision through characters.
IF we would have good writers without politics and shit a way to go would be like the old Indy-TV-show: An old Indiana, played by Harrison, talks about past adventures and in these he is played by a new actor. And sometime old-Indy can do something cool as well...
2:47:42 - about halfway through Avatar 2, a character says, "The Way of Water has no end." No shit, seeing it in the theater, opening weekend, I thought, "Yeah, it sure seems it..."
Henry would be a good choice for Ciaphas Cain or Ibram Gaunt, really hope they let him have creative input. I can trust Henry to care about this setting, not many others, though.

What a shocker. The whole reset thing is old and never seems to work well. And you hit the nail on the head the actors suffer because of the poor writing. These are the same actors who have done a decent job with poor scripts and could have really excelled if the scripts were better. Another origin story is the possible reason! How many origin stories do we need not only in Movies but in series as well. I think a new SM movie with Henry would have done well, and they are wasting a good opportunity here. I loved Heelvs input, and I feel the same way. Henry is Great and deserves much better. Wokeness is ruining everything, and I believe there is a component of this at play here.
Dear god. Why on earth didn't they do Crisis as a reboot? Spend the money to get as many rights to likeness, etc so you can bring in every possible version you can find or CG. Get Reeves and Cavil and Welling and Cain (and Keaton and Carter and Galdot etc) and all the rest. Then use that to jumpstart whoever you are going to move to next. You don't have to have much of a story nostalgia will carry you. These franchises are worth trillions and they are messing it up again and again.
Agreed with him on Peacemaker. Everyone saying it was so great and 'a breath of fresh air' yeah it was yet another attempt to MCU/Deadpool-ize a flagging franchise with ryan reynolds tier humor/quips/one liners. Take nothing seriously, unless it's the side (extremely diverse) characters' personal relationship woes (LOL), because being minorities their problems are 'real' unlike Peacemaker himself who just has a mean racist daddy who is a neo-nazi tony stark (even more LOL). I wish people would (edit:)start* calling these "not serious" garbage 'soft reboot' style movies/tv shows what they are; post-MCU bandwagoning slop. They aren't good, they aren't original, and they aren't even funny. Sure you might snort once or twice in an episode, but that doesn't make up for all the jokes that DON'T land and just get drawn out until it's beyond embarrassing, and the garbage writing in general. Just because the rest of the DC universe is about as dark and edgy as the goth loners in high school, doesn't mean anything they make that isn't "dark" is good...
@The Hoers Corral I tuned out after they called him a raycist for the 3rd time. And that was before the first episode ended. Also, that bar scene with the blond woman having her "woe is me" tantrum also cemented this show ain't for me. It baffles me how some people say this show it's awesome.
@@WildDogGamerBoy LMAO exactly, that's what I mean. And it only got worse. They had multiple instances where in the SAME EPISODE, they'd have everyone mocking Peacemaker's white plainness and boring 'plain' upbringing (unlike the STRUGGLES of fat black girl of course), and then force us to sit through fat black girl who is also GAY's, lesbian girlfriend/wife (don't care to remember lol) having drama about keeping secrets and all that... as though we should care? I thought that personal 'woe is me' stuff was boring and narcissistic? OH wait, that's just when white men in lead positions do it.
@The Hoers Corral I have ZERO faith James Gunn will do the DC universe any justice based on this show alone. I'll ignore the movies and stick with back issues from now on. I'm tired of being burned constantly by WB. It's like expecting your abusive couple to change after so many years. I at least wanted the snyder cut story finished before doing a full reboot. But now that's gone, too. I just couldn't care less at this point.
so i like the nihilistic superhero movie/tv shows only because the only hope and happiness is boring and not interesting(to me). and how az said basically he wanted to see more hope so when he leaves the theaters he could feel hope to do better in his life. when i heard that i hear “i need to see more women, black, gay etc. in my movies so i can feel seen/feel empowered” they’re both basically the same in my eyes. but i do think a superman character should be hopeful so batman can be more noir and nihilistic.
