Tools: Gloves, newspapers (under the printer), Phillips head screwdriver, paper towels, tweezers, needle nose pliers, warm/soapy water. It really helps to have a second person when you reconnect things.
Though at least six years old, our Canon Pixma MG2420 printer has been a workhorse for the Association. It has traveled to cons, esports events and more and still runs well. When we got an "Ink Absorber Full" error, we took it apart and figured anyone else still using one of these will soon have to do the same. After cleaning the ink absorber and reassembling the printer, it is working even better than it did before.

I too followed your video, to empty the ink absorber BUT I don’t know where the tapes connect back on the left hand side. I’m waiting for an edit too .... have a helper at hand also. Can I add a photo to show you?

Hi, for some reason my new colour cartridge isn't working (but is detected) so I thought it might be something to do with the ink absorber. I've followed what you did and it's not turning back on. I'm not sure if I've connected the wires the correct way but they are in place. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.

Most likely the wires are not set correctly. Double check both their placement and how snug the connection is

What do you do to reset the ink absorber code. It keeps blinking that the ink absorber is full but I cleaned them.

I went through the process of resetting the warning lights you will find online (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9SrBzabJj00.html is one example) but the warning lights would come back the next print job. I just hit the "Black" start button each time I turn on the printer and it works fine

I wish you would have said that it was a two-person job to get it put back before you said to disconnect those things because I don't have a second person. Now I can't get those reattached.

We will make that edit. You can do it one person, but it is much easier with a friend

I have the CANON PIXMA MG2420, Serial Number HAAB2064, when following the instructions on RU-vid at 2.47 the inside om my printer is different and show the PRINTER CIRCUIT BOARD, could even see the ink absorber. Please advise anyone ? Johan VanLeer

@@johanvanleer883 We show the ink absorber at 3:20. It is in the lower right of the printer, underneath a cover that is easy to remove

I talk about reconnecting the wires and boards at 4:49. You might also need to take off the button cover to get to them. We did not do that for this video.
