How can anyone NOT like Capper? He doesn't have a bad bone in his body, just pure self belief and he actually backed it up with great athleticism ... no doubt a character, but what a LEGEND!
Met him on a flight from Bangkok to Melbourne. He was sat next to me. No idea who he was as I'm Scottish. Great guy, shared drinks had a laugh. Well done big man all the best
Love capper. Smarter than u think if u listen deeply. He's his own marketer, administrator and publicity agent. Kudos to him all whilst taking the piss
Well said Greg,Only narrow minded ones can't appreciate the all-round magic of the Wiz,Macca a friend of mine always said the most loyal person he'd grown up with,Supertalent
Love how Mike tries to get a rise out of him and just fails every time because Kappa is just so open and honest about himself but still with confidence. He definitely could be a handful to have in your life but seems like he could be a good mate.
First time I've watched this interview. Absolutely loved it. I've still got my QAFL Brisbane Bears Steedan with Wazza's signature on it and most of the Brisbane Bears players. Darren Carlson was kicking balls out to the crowd at Salk Oval Palm Beach before the grand final sometime in the 80's. One bounce into my hands. What a score. What a great personality, great guy. Warrick's one of the reasons why the 80's was the best decade. I loved going to Carrara to watch the Bears with my Dad. They didn't always have it together as a team but they had some great names and were fun to watch. Running onto the ground after the siren to meet the players, get some signatures and have a kick was a great time in my life.
My dad tells me that when I was toddler I stacked it while running along the beach in surfers paradise. Out of all the people in the world to fall over in front of it was this man. So ya boy got sledged by Warwick capper. How good.
Funny Capper story....1978 Under 15 Northvale/Mulgrave team . Capper playing full forward. Playing against Boronia a team that had the wood on us a number of times. We the players as a group decided a change of tactic was needed. Even back then Capper wore the shorts one size to small. So as team we all pulled our shorts up , wearing the Swans colors, so picture this 18 15 year old boys with the budgies smuggled running on to the field. By the time Boronia had recovered we were 6 goals and a great win was had. I played forward pocket and Capper spent a lot of time on my shoulders. CAPPER!!!
A true Rock Star footballer at the time; we sometimes forget how big Warwick was in the late '80's! A different cat, but way most charisma and personality than most going around in recent years. Respect..
You must admit, the WIZZ Is great value, really enjoyed the interview.A lot of people remember Capper for all his antics and his Different lifestyle,So we sometimes forget how great of a footballer he actually was..I lived in Collingwood all my life and I'm 46years old now and with all the locals of collingwood we would always go to vic park to see the Magpies play (Which was every second week back in those days) and i never forget one particular year when our next home game was against the Swans (at Vic Park) but all week every local in who lived in collingwood was talking about How "MARK READ,Better Known as CHOPPER READ" who also lived in Collingwood was telling everyone in the Neighborhood that he was going to Shoot Warick capper from behind the goals at the Yarra falls end where the old scoreboard was,So the Neirborhood was all in a buzz and all the talk was how chopper was going to Shoot Capper the following week when the Swans came down to play,But luckily for capper nothing happened and many years later when we were having a a few beers in the local pub where chopper used to all ways be drinking also so i went up to Chopper and brang up that story and i said Chopper were you really going to shoot Warrick Capper at Vic Park all those years back and Chopper Turned around and said FUCK YEAH,I WAS GOING TO PUT A BULLET IN HIM,BUT I CHANGED ME FUCKING MIND BECAUSE FRANKIE BEGGED ME NOT TO DO IT (Frankie was a real close mate of Choppers),But untill this day i don't know if Chopper was just pulling me leg as You could never tell with Chopper if he was Serious or just Joking around,He had that way about him. Just thought I'd share that story with you all which was much talked about in Collingwood back in the old Days..
I’ve had 3 seperate run ins with this man once at a nightclub once he had breakfast with me and a mate and even had a kick of the footy together and he had plenty of advice all three times he was an absolute ripper of a bloke he’s an entertainer sure but has a good heart KAAAAAAPAAAAHHH
Good heart?, what do you say right now?, running brothels, a Pimp by definition. Going for Adelaide next, the City of Churches. Great, just what the world needs.
Your Spot on,I'm still saying Fuck the Free world it's like they we're to embarrassed,Mark Bayes was on the bench, love him but he's no Wiz their of the planet insanely
We'd only started getting finals coverage in England in the latter part of the 80s. I was (and still am) a big Hawthorn fan, and I saw the Swans game against Hawthorn the day after it was played. The mark over Langford got rewound on my video for hours - it was nothing short of sensational. You need personalities in sport - and if they can take hangers like that, so much the better, I believe him when he says he increased Swans membership on his own.
He was manned by the best week in week out and still managed a ton - Silvagni, Pert, Kennedy, Langford, Hughes,Martin, All State players and some All Australian
Warwick was & still is a legend. He was the Sydney Swans & will always will be the image I have of The Swans even today 2018. The guy has made a motza out of his personality.
Hubby and I were driving around Beaudesert one year and we pulled to a stop at roadworks and I said to hubby...that guy looks like Warwick Capper...hubby groaned and yeah cause he would be out here in the middle of nowhere working for roadworks...nek minite, news headline...Warwich Capper does roadwork. LOL.
ozzyintexas Absolutely. Capper was mates with a relative of mine so I got to spend a day with him when I was a kid. He was every bit the bloke you see on tv
Bit of a sad figure really. In the end he got dudded by the Swans & was never going to fit in to any other team. Love him or loathe him he was great for the Swans and the game in Sydney. I used to sit behind the goals at the SCG and watch his wonky kicks go through the middle. The crowd would go wild. The Swanettes would get up and do their stuff. Sooo much fun. All the rugby people new to the game loved it. Nothing has ever come close to that era. Good onya Wizz.
im a Tigers supporter but have to Admit Warwick was one hell of a player at the swans...its a shame he didnt stay in sydney....also he has taken some of the best marks you,ll see....really enjoy this episode......your alright by me Wiz
Yeah. I've watched this one twice and the Jacko one three times. Capper seems to like Mike whereas Jacko can't stand him. Funny to think that Jacko is/was Warwick's manager. Both full forwards. (Warwick might say that one's a bit prettier than the other!)
Shocking kicking style, great mark from behind (not so much when in front - couldn’t get the ride!). He was and still is a real football character albeit he’s still stuck back in the time he was playing though. It’s not a bad thing for the AFL to have had eccentric characters as ‘draw cards’ like Capper, Jacko, Fev, and Big Bad Barry etc. It got people to the footy and through the turnstiles.
Gotta admit he was great for footy and if I had a spare $5000 I'd definitely stay at his joint and hang out with him. I'd asked him to show me his highlights vid, because i'll bet he's got a few
This was a good interview!. pretty interesting about getting the death threats and having a bodyguard for 3 years who followed him from end to end at footy games. wow
