I have watched Sam for 50 years! He was a wonderful footballer, actually he was star, and he was a fabulous media performer. Probably one of the biggest AFL stars of the last 100 years.
Champion man on and off the field..tough as nails Sam Newman , never whinged and complained , made us all laugh for many many years and did a bloody dam good job of it ..smart quick witted intelligent man, well done John Sam Newman and thanks for the many funny years of entertainment bloody legend ..
@@PetraKann They're largely discussing football, a game, but one which many people enjoy and so might be interested in this for the sake of entertainment. They're not pretending to solve the mysteries of the universe. What about you ?
I met Sam ( not on Street talk) at a luncheon where he gave a speech .He was very entertaining..! Open and honest..no one was offended. Spoke to him as he was leaving.. he was pretty good. Same in person as you see on TV..liked him 👍🏼
Sam your parents would have been bloody proud of you.....your a ripper bloke who says it how it is....what more could you want....love your work and ur personality as we get to see it.....bet it's even more so for your lucky close friends.
Does anyone else remember that episode of The Footy Show where Sam is sick and tired of the style of the game during the period where it was ball up after ball up, so he drew up on a whiteboard an idea for a new set of rules where you divided the the ground up in to zones where you couldn't cross between. Everyone was laughing at him like he didn't know what he was talking about, nek minute we have zones in 2019. That surprised me to realise he really knows his shit about the game.
BadAsCan Yeah they can’t leave those 6-6-6 zones until the centre bounce has occurred, then they are free to go wherever they want. However if one player is out of position at the centre bounce, (eg; 7 backs, 6 mids and 5 forwards,) then that is deemed illegal.
Sam you are hilarious, a breath of fresh, albeit dry air, in an otherwise politically correct world these days. I enjoy your antics and your willingness to say what you think.
Never knew him as a player but Sam's always been a legend & I love when he only says what most people think but is somehow made out to be controversial by the media. The day we no longer have Sam Newman personalities on football shows etc is the day tv is no longer worth watching.
I think you are fantastic, funny, honest, with a heart of gold, you know what you are talking about and its not just regarding football. I love watching you on the Footy Show. I fret when Nine starts talking about letting you go. Good on you Sam. You are bloody ace. I was too young to know who you were when you played football. I like watching and listening to you and I would defend myself for telling people I like Sam Newman. 24 years I have been watching you on the Footy Show. I remember waking up after a month in ICU and asked someone who I might have know but I don't think I could remember who the person was? I wanted to know if Sam was on tonight? I had no idea what day, time, where I was or even why? I found out later what happened to me. I'm still not happy about how things turned out. It's not a happy way to be. And it wasn't my fault. Just like I say about you it's not SAMs fault so leave him alone. I wish the Professors of medicine left me alone. I would still be walking around the Tan. You are fantastic Sam:)
So you want us to become a white-nationalist autocracy? Go build a time-machine to take you back to the Third Reich or apartheid-South Africa, and leave us alone👋
Lol why "time travel" to the third Reich and or South Africa? Australia had a "White Australia policy" that ran from the early 1900's until the 70's...
Isaiah 32:6 KJV For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the Lord, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.
Coming from an NRL background, I didn't really know much about Sam Newman. I hop Id be right in saying he is a genuine bloke who just says what he means and is no snowflake.
@@ArachKing the times nowadays produce bad movies, that think chucking in a bunch of vagina people that have no personality constitutes a good movie. And they shove a bunch of whining pussies who think they are all victims to some slight they aren't even sure they suffer from, because the situations they cote are completely and utterly indefinitive, right in ya face to make ya feel like bad guys in some unmade movie.
@@ArachKing Sam carried that show, it was no coincidence that the show absolutely tanked after he got booted off, it lasted a handful of episodes then got canceled due to low ratings, the signs of dying were starting to show towards the end when they tried to modernise it, I guess that “getting with the times” was the nail in the coffin for them.
You got love John'Sammy'Newman, He really is a Character like Wacko Jacko and he may piss off alot of people in the game and Plumbers and I rate husband's but overall he is the Genuine Article and does his bit for charity and he shows his emotions IE the Night Ted Whitten died. Iam a Rugby person so that's my only thing against him.
@@1969cmp 'woke' doesn't always infer 'politically-correct', champ. In any case, he thinks it makes him sound wise when in fact it's pretty darn close to the opposite.
John (Sammy) Newman was a great player in a great side. In another side he may have been remembered better. Me, not a fan of Geelong, Sam is up there with the rest of them
Sam's one of the maybe 2% of retired footballers who have enough IQ to do something other than holding up a "Stop/Slow" sign while standing on the roads.........
Be good if we got a chance to reply to these TV clips. A lot turns out as lies. . Get up at have it yourselves Yeah OK LOL No idea your pants pulled down lol Pie in the face was another set up.
Having seen Sam as Polly Farmers replacement at Geelong, I instantly hated him .... I’m a Hawthorn supporter. On a good day he was as good as Polly but faster. On a normal day he didn’t have Farmers skill, but was still too good for his Hawthorn opponent..... unless Scottie was having a great day. lol Like most past players of note these days, he is very humble about his career. The players of the 1940’s and 1950’s were never so humble.
@@ArachKing I'm gonna guess you loved "old woman crawf" didn't ya dickhead. That was them trying to get with the times....and it ruined it. Media think shoving women infront of a camera makes for good representation but it doesn't. Put a talented, great personality that happens to be a women in any situation and they will shine brighter than anyone.
Scraping the bottom of the barrel. Met him down in Hobart in 2015 at the Salamanca markets at a local cafe. Tried to cut the line in front of me. Total flog.
