Today we are going to talk about 8 open-source 2D animation software that you can use to work on your projects. each one of them has its own tools and features that make it unique and powerful at the time.
8_ENVE
Enve is a promising new open-source 2D animation tool.
This software has both vector and raster animation capabilities and a workflow that should be familiar to users of other open-source graphics software.
7_Tupitube
Tupitube is an animation software created by Maefloresta Inc. It’s basically an amateur animation software that is very popular among kids, students, and teachers.
6_GIMP
GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program which has all features a software like Adobe Photoshop has. In addition to that, there are tools and features for animating 2D figures and drawings.
5_Krita
Krita is a free and open-source raster graphics software designed primarily for digital painting and 2D animation.
4_Synfig Studio
Synfig Studio is free and open-source 2D animation software, and if you are looking for one the most convenient place for beginners to master 2D animation than Synfig is probably the right one for you. With the use of Synfig you can create timeline-based animations.
3_Pencil 2D
Pencil2D is another free and open-source animation software. It is known as one of the most powerful 2D animation and it is very popular.
2_Opentoonz
Opentoonz is one of the top free and open-source 2D animation software that you can use to create 2D animations and 2D films.
Over the years it was used to create some of the most popular Japanese anime shows which shows how good and important it is in the animation industry.
1_Blender
Blender is an open-source free to use 3D and 2D animation software, for both commercial and personal use. it is a cross-platform 3D creation program, it offers a powerful arsenal of tools, with Blender you can do modeling, animation, rigging, simulation, rendering, motion tracking, compositing, video editing or game creation. in addition to a great 2D animation system.

I think for 2D open toonz is probably the best . But blender is good too but hard and well it’s mostly using grease pencil. Krita is good too .

Blender's Grease Pencil has a bit of an unusual approach indeed, but we think that it's worth it! Our 2D artists love it and we even made full videos about it. Thanks for the feedback!

@@InspirationTuts2D it is worth it indeed . It’s just super unique … it’s just really complex for the people that for instance would use rough animator to start learning animation . Keep up those videos coming

For low spec PC's I think pencil2d would suffice not sure about the rest, if you have enough patience you could go for blender and others when they render slow . Can't figure out syfig and opentoonz, really huge learning curve for me. I usually animate using play store apps but since my device stylus broke, this video was what I needed coz I've been sulking for days. Imma try the unfamilar apps mentioned, thanx👍

You know there is a software called tahoma which is like opentoonz but with a better and modern interface and has more features like stop motion animation made by Jeremy Bullock
