We know that Ilford/Harman can make C-41 films. We mustn't forget that XP2 is already a product. Colour is new. I hope we find out over the next few weeks and months a bit more about what Harman changed, and what differs to what Adox are up to.
Ilford knew the risk before letting the film out to get tested/reviewed. They also know that good PR/bad PR is better than none. It's also a handy little market builder. Just my view on it, after having tested film a couple times in the past. *Not stating that to justify the leak, just saying Ilford probably isn't going to be too upset.
If youre looking for an ISO1600 color film I recently pushed 250D to 1600 and developed in Cinestill CS2 for 8 minutes. It looked great, I'll definitely be doing more of that in the future.
They send some cards and build a hype some time ago. People discussed and then move on, because it is a long way until dec 1. I honestly forgot about it. Then came the “leak”. Which made everyone pumped again and ready to drop some cash on it. In the film community you don’t need marketing budget. You need cheap and good film. The people will do the rest

New film just raises hope that us poors in third world can get more of standard film stocks like Kodak Colorplus or whatever we can get. Lomo has stopped sending us any film because they are forcing dealers to buy cameras which no one buys. That’s reason I will not boycott cinestill as they seem to be one of few still bothering with our market. BEggars wont be choosers.

Maybe im wrong but I heard the story was that a local film shop accidentally put the stock on shelf and this reddit user grabbed a roll. I hope that is the truth and its not an influencer that leaked it because you are right its bad for the ecosystem.
personally, I think harman has dragged this out a bit too long; I think a couple weeks of hype then a shadow drop; "film available NOW!" would be a much better way to have gone about it. Regardless, I'm excited to see how it'll look once we hear more on Dec 1st hopefully.
I wouldn't be worried about Harman and other companies thinking twice before sending out test samples of products. The analog photography market needs influencers to stay relevant.
Hate to be Debbie downer but, NGL, I had not heard about the leaks till I saw your title of this video. And I thought surely this is clickbait. But it wasn’t and now I’m sad because I missed the surprise by 1 day.
They might have leaked it themselves. The fact that you are now making a video about it is exactly why they could’ve done something like this. It generates publicity and that’s what you want when releasing a new product.
Does Ilford seem like the kind of company that use underhanded marketing tactics like this? I’m not saying it’s impossible, but let’s not be conspiratorial here. The most likely explanation is some influencer didn’t care and leaked it
