I like how you speak, the intro's are really good, you basically give an agenda without giving an agenda.

This is GOLD, as usual, Nathan. Only quibble is the difference in audio/mic between you and Zvi. He sounded like he was talking from midway across the room, compared to you.

I agree this echoing in that room and also the speed in which he was talking sometimes makes it difficult to get every word real clearly understood. I think when you have a certain amount of echoing well then you have that whole phenomena of bits and pieces of sound that simultaneously some parts are suffering from destructive interference because the timing of when a echo is coming off of a wall and hitting wherever the microphone is there and others would be constructive interference of certain sounds in a consonant and then that makes it a little bit more difficult to hear it clearly.

Despite such a rapid acceleration in the AI technology, people still talk about starting a profitable AI business on the lines of the old world economic model that will certainly going to crumble in the coming decades.

A positive vision for the future is not a scarce resource but simply a responsibility for each and everyone of us.

I picked up Gemini free which I didn’t really know was available but with all the hype this week I looked . Up till now I’d tried to use whatever to at least try something Ai but it was too much trouble. Last week I bought a laptop and found co pilot in edge BUT being able to stay with the google interface is worth it and I can’t stand microsquish so. Your analysis of me the average user is pretty accurate.

It’s fun to play with, but is a total waste of time like 99% of the time.

1:46:25 along with what it might add to productivity is the other new markets that could open up that we're not even possible without this newer technology.

1:49:23 Ray kurzweil has talked about the what is called longevity escape velocity essentially being the year 2029. Now if we want to think about this just a little bit this is what is called more or less an average meaning that if you Don't take care of your health well then in reality it may not help that much. All that means is that actuarial tables will show an average life expectancy advancing one year for every year that goes by and then maybe by the middle of the 2030s well then we might see two years of new life expectancy for every 1 year that goes by. So for a while especially for this older people we need to watch out for our health and even for younger people the laws of biology are not going to change that much until we advance a good deal further and also have actual total age reversal.

Great discussion guys. I'm wondering your thoughts on the business logic behind OpenAI giving away GPT-4o for free. I made a video on it, but I'm not 100% sure if I'm right. My main idea is that they are trying to gain market share as much as possible, before launching something new and awesome (GPT-5, Sora, Agents, etc.) to the paying customers - knowing that a certain % will upgrade to the paid version.

54:49 once again if people want to have seductive thirsty AIs or whatever is that they need to take responsibility for their choices and if it helps them that's fine but it may very well stunt their social development but on the other hand it's not the rest of our responsibility to police people who are adults regarding this. I have heard talk about the idea of regulating social media that we have right now and not having anyone be allowed to set up an account who cannot verify that they're 16 years of age or older. Apparently it has had a very negative effect on young girls young teenage girls and so therefore you know we should probably regulate that. As far as the guys who had taken AI robot over a real girlfriend well you know that actually if positively affects the supply versus demand dynamics for the other guys that want to go out there and actually you know pursue a real relationship.

@@andybaldman people in the '50s already knew about cigarettes. The contacts what I said about taking responsibility is trying one's best to make an informed decision about a choice they're going to make and then also choosing to get the help they need when it's available if the choice they made is wrong. Now do a great extent though is it everything is basically a choice on less than perfect information. But not less though you have to take responsibility for the choices you make with the best information you got and not to essentially be all for prohibitions against something because there might be a some probability it's going to be a problem for some people The ones that choose it cuz a lot of times the rest of us don't choose to do much social media or smoke cigarettes.

49:21 we can delineate between perhaps a computer that can or I mean the AI assistant that can be prompted to do some porn for somebody but it may not allow you to like create a Taylor Swift or whatever but perhaps it can produce somebody that is fake and has similar qualities but is clearly not associated if you know what I mean. As we move forward with all this technology we can perhaps worry about people who are going to isolate themselves and create you know fantasy porn worlds or whatever the hell you call it but then at the same time the same technology in the same intelligence it gives us all this great stuff will also be a much more powerful tool for psychiatric help and then of course naturally we could perhaps produce better psychoactives to treat people who have some real problems. I always go with airing on the side of personal freedom autonomy and choice but also of course individuals taking responsibility for their choices what I mean by that is like you start doing something that's bad for you will then fine now it's your responsibility to seek help and the help should be there.
