What I've always done to remove wax from the face of a card is to lay it on a hard, flat surface and rub with either a terrycloth or microfiber cloth until it's completely removed. Works every time.
Love this set & I own the first 4 cards of you mentioned, as well. Though notta one is centred. Or at least ‘perfectly’ anyway. Thanks, for the share. Cheers !!!
Yip what bairgan hunter said... I've done it a bunch of times... I bought a 69 Rose & it was all waxed up.. 5 bucks & cleaned it up... It graded an 8... Baaaam!!!!
I recently went into a bookstore and found a box of cards. In that box, I found a majority of the 1981 Topps B-Ball cards. Magic, Bird, McHale, Parish, Kareem... The reason for my comment is that I have the same wax or gum residue on my Bird card. Good to know where it stems from.
Not sure where you live, but I stumbled across this method by accident...im in arizona and was sorting cards on patio...ran inside to get phone and when I came back out, the heat from the sun had made the wax on the cards a perfect consistency to remove(again, I used kleenex)...
Getting Wax on the front is way better than the bak. Lay it flat of a hard table use one hand to push the card hard against the table and w other had wrap a terry cloth/or tube sock twist around a finger and rub the wax off.
If you get wax on the front of the card, put it in the microwave for 10 seconds to loosen the wax and then gently wipe off with a nylon. Repeat if necessary
I agree, in fact I saw Millsap play live in college when Louisiana Tech came to town to play Texas Tech. He had something like 22 points and 24 rebounds in that game, totally dominated us.
Hey man just subbed.... you can try gently rubbing the wax with your finger... wax tends to come off with repetitive friction and should accumulate into little pieces you could just shake off
I've had good success with using Kleenex warmed up...doesnt have to be Krazee hot, just warm..then wipe card lightly until Kleenex returns to room temp..repeat as needed..careful with pantyhose ...they can be abrasive and if you're wiping too hard, could be problem..
Only for modern Chrome surfaced cards that scratch easily. With vintage paper cards I find it's very easy to ding a corner when putting those cards in sleeves. Or maybe I just suck at sleeving cards. :)
Normal sleeves yes, but dinged corners aren't an issue with the 130pt size sleeve meant for thicker cards. I combine those with a Card Saver 1 for much of my ungraded collection.
I use a lot of top loaders and mags but have 1k or so in card savers with penny sleeve ready for PSA...I only send 10-50 per month so it will take awhile
Well i wont say screw wilt but that is the guy that played in that talentless era where everyone else weighed bout 105 yeah screw the 85 bears the canton bulldogs of the 1920 would kick their butts
