Great video Julia! When I was growing up, hey only had chocolate advent calendars. Now, I guess, they have a whole bunch of different ones. I bought the Hershey Chocolate one. I wanted Cadbury instead but could not find it again oh well.

For me, my almost two decades on language learning I found, the biggest factor is time and patience with yourself. So, I decided to take less courses going forward so, I can focus on language learning. I have been doing a full course load for over a decade so, it is time to focus on other things a bit more. As for patience with yourself when I was teaching myself Russian and the learning the Cyrillic script with no teacher, I really needed to be patient with myself. I resisted learning Cyrillic script at first, but realized it was necessary to understand the language properly. Although, it is still easier for me to speak Russian than read it still. I also, know some French being Canadian, Spanish like the horror movies and music, and Japanese because I loved the culture since I was 8. I started learning Swedish again to get re-connected with someone I have not talked to in a long time. I wanted to learn in high school but little to no resources compared to now so, I mostly focused on Russian because it's one of my closer heritage languages.

I think my Finnish friend wants me to learn her language but I told her maybe in 6 years if we are still talking i will consider it. Russian grammar is hard enough. Some people cannot accept I find Russian a lot of the time easier than Swedish because it is closer to English but I think a lot of it is dependent on exposure for how long no mater how hard a language is or is not perceived. One of my teachers is more than half Finnish but she does not think she would have the patience to learn at her age. I think, it is more of a mindset.
