Thousand Dragon was in the very first structure decks that came out for Speed Duels so this is not our first time seeing him, but very nice that he got a reprint for those who missed out on those structure decks
I lost my mind when I noticed secret rare flame swordsman and arkana dark magician ❤️. I appreciate the shout out. I literally just completed a modified goat format (I call it speed goat format) flame swordsman and exodia deck last night finally. Stay well, fam. Ps. Looks like I get to use Marauding Captain and Command Knight og prints. That Karbonala Warrior is great!
@@CasualDuelist I'm playing triple battle armament and no one can stop me lol. I don't remember which of us called the skill that summons flame swordsman but nail on the head. Dude I'm so hyped.
We got our three boxes yesterday too. Mokuba was super disappointed about no Exodia, but all in all we're happy since we missed some of these cards that came out before the first Battle City box. We were lucky enough to get a Dark Magician Girl in our rare pulls - but this only excited me, not Mokuba 🤷♂
@@CasualDuelist I was thinking and reading @garrettsmith4034 reply just below here, and I have a question/request that would help ease Mokuba's deep disappointment. So here it is: at some point if/when you have time, could you make a sort of fantasy build with Exodia for Speed Duel - you know, whatever existing skill, existing Speed Duel cards, and number of Exodia pieces you think make sense) so I can get the cards and surprise Mokuba with an Exodia Speed Duel deck he can use when it's just us? Totally cool if not, but it never hurts to ask 😉
The other joey skill card we should have gotten instead of Iron Grit, in honor of his artwork for Red Eyes finally being released- -Scarlet Vision (skill card using the same artwork as the spell card 'Red eyes insight' "You can send 1 card from your hand or deck to the GY that lists "Red Eyes" in it's name, to add any card from your Deck to your hand that lists "Red Eyes" in it's name. This effect can be used 3 times per duel. This skill can't be negated.") Being we didn't get it for Joey, hopefully we can get it for Atticus Nightshroud then
Not to mention a New spell card for Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon called "Return of the Black Metal Dragon" that states - "This card is always treated as a Red Eyes card. If you control 1 'Red Eyes Black Dragon' and no other monsters on the field, tribute it and special summon 1 'Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon' from your deck or hand ignoring the summoning conditions and equip this card to it. The equipped monster can not be affected by opponents spell effects and during the battle phase the equipped monster gains half the ATK of the target monster. You can not normal summon or special summon the turn you activate this card." As well as a a Mai Valentine skill- Harpie's Nest (Discard 1 card from your hand to the GY, add 1 card from your deck to your hand that lists "Harpie" in its name and if you do, you can special summon 1 "Harpies Pet Dragon" from your Hand or Graveyard, and it gains 200 ATK/DEF for every Winged Beast monster in your graveyard." No limit to the amount this skill can be used)
Still think they could've done something with Exodia, maybe printing the limbs but have the head as the skill card with some big restriction like a minimum of 30 deck and 1 less opening hand. Oh well, I'm pretty sure we'll be getting more DM era sets in the future, and I doubt speed duels itself is going anywhere, they know they need a casual alternative for the less comp side of the fanbase.
Not gonna lie, I was a little bummed he wasn't in set but it would overcentralize the meta so I'm not that upset. It would be cool to see him for necross, but they may just make a skill for that.
This set is absolutely ridiculous. Summoned Skull soul control here we come! I have a theory that we will eventually get a battle city island arc where we finally get exodia and Necross as a skill. Noah with a spirit and shantatto deck with secret rare yata would be insane. Give us the yata lock.
I still have mixed feelings about this release. I love some of the new cards, Marauding Captain is one of my all time favourite cards for example. Spell counter decks could be really powerful and look like a lot of fun. Red eyes support is great. Anti magic arrow is probably a new staple? Warrior of Atlantis makes water decks even better! But all in all I think this set is like 75% reprints....that is kinda disappointing :/ But I am glad we didn't get exodia tbh :D Looking forward to your upcoming videos and all your deck ideas!
It's about 50-50 between reprints and new cards. I think this set is definitely worth it, especially with all of these alternate arts, especially the og Red-Eyes and new Dark Magician artworks.
You are right. It seemed more to me probably because of some decks. The yugi deck only has 6 new cards, Joey only 5 new cards and the rare hunter deck just 4 cards....I really like the alternate arts but even the new cards are a bit lackluster? I just don't see a metachanging deck at the moment but maybe red eyes, spell counter or warrior will be way better than I think ^^ @@elessar5934
Definitely agreed, I'm one of those players who started Speed Duel with the original Battle City boxes, and I've missed out on a lot of those things that came before it. I did manage to snap up 2 Bakura and Marik structure decks later on, but other than that I was missing a lot of these cards, so I really can't be mad about reprints. Also it is always nice to have reprints of staples like Book of Moon etc.@@CasualDuelist
The fact they use slifer to try and draw young kids who do not understand the game or lore bothers me. It just furthers the depreciation of the god cards
@giovannifigueroa6307 ehh idk about that, I've been playing on and off since the start, and still hadn't bought a Slifer/Osiris lol this was an easy grab.
