Honestly couldn't care less about the stand but the minimalist saddle looks like a winner. 220.00 for an xop vanish, the money you save leaves lots of budget for mods, Bell's and whistles at about 10 pounds base weight. I don't use climbing sticks, I like what you said about hunting height. I hunt at the height I believe the particular situation calls for. From ground to 30 feet. Hunting ridges, 12 feet over the ridge saddle might be 40 up a tree in the side of the ridge.
I definitely think that if your on a budget, or you simply don’t want to spend that much money on a stand then go the vanish route, or Novix Helo and save up for all the other goodies!!
I am super looking forward to the review of the TX5. good on you for the honesty about that doe. It happens, all we can do is our best and learn to be more ethical, as you did based on not shooting that second deer.
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors I understand! I was just thinking last night I need to get on this. Need a hip belt for the cold weather clothing/bulk I’ll be adding to my pack as it gets colder.
Just my preference but I don’t see the point of straps etc on the .75 or .5 I braided 550cord into “straps”. I use carabiners as chest connectors. I carry my stand or climber on the outside of my pack (this yr been running the Platow-mixed reviews) I did the same for my LW alpha hand climber…..braided approx 6’ length for shoulder straps. A potion of that is doubled back w Prusik knots for adjustment and locking into place. Once again, carabiners to connect chest and keep everything tight n right. I carry this also on outside of pack…..
Man I’ll be honest so far Im really enjoying my .75. Only real complaint I have is the cushion is about as durable as a roll of Charmin ultra. Should fixer up with some nice duct tape though. Other then that solid piece of equipment
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors ya I didn’t expect it hold up cuz it is really soft foam at the end of the day. But ya its pretty torn up from walking threw thorn bushes and what not and I’ve only used it twice. Been thinking of ways to make it more durable other then duct tape but might just have to settle with that for now.
Got my eye on a couple nice bucks in S MI public. There is a small public property with a creek running through the middle that always houses shooter bucks no matter how pressured it gets. Was wondering if you hunt public down here in S Michigan, there’s a couple spots that are worth the drive.
Are you able to run the double steps straight up and down when also running the 2 single steps on the side? I was just wondering because I was thinking about doing the exact same setup next season
The tall post on the .5 digs into my back. The standard post did not. The tall post cant dig into your back om the .75 because it locks into the platform.
Yes, the tall post is a lot better for me. Just couldn't handle that thing digging in my back. Happy to report I hunted tonight with the tx5 pad installed and no more digging in my back!!
Hunting low is absolutely stupid makes no sense it boils down to no matter how Mobil a portable stand is it still sucks setting them up and breaking them down that’s why guys are going 2 sticks High !!!
It all depends on the cover. Am I hidden or outlined? I always take 4 full size sticks unless I know what tree and situation I’m getting into. And when I do, sometimes I leave it all on the ground and still hunt because there are no suitable trees in some good spots in the Michigan swamps. In the hills I’m getting as high as possible! I get up to 25ish ft in the hills and it seems so high but then you look behind you and your ground level, lol!
Hey Jayce, was it the post digging into your back? Or was it the prongs from the seat? If it was the seat, what if you just laid the seat flat and didn’t use it as a shelf? Just curious if your thoughts. Thanks man
