Ultimate Archery Arrow Test: 400, 500, & 600 Grain Penetration & Trajectory Comparison
Welcome to our in depth arrow test! In this video, we're trying to dissolve several variables we've seen in various other tests. Whether they're biased or just don't think of certain things that we talk about with our customers everyday. We put three different arrow weights to the ultimate test: 400, 500, and 600 grains. Watch as we analyze how each arrow performs in terms of penetration and trajectory.
🔍 What to Expect:
Detailed tests of arrow penetration into not just 20 yards, but 40, 60 and 80.
Side-by-side comparisons of arrow trajectories
Insights into how arrow weight affects performance
Whether you’re a seasoned archer or just starting out, this video will give you valuable insights into how different arrow weights can impact your shooting and hopefully all of the noise you hear on the internet.

The trajectory was cool at the end.

Interesting results for sure. The trajectory part was so cool. Would be interesting to see the trajectory of like 60 lb draw with 400-425-450 grain arrows. From like 20-30-40-50. There’s a lot of hunters I think that fall into that category? 👍👍👀 waiting to see what you guys come up with next. Maybe a few fixed blade heads into cardboard?

We love the way you think! We have plans to do a similar test with say a 50lb bow with a 300, 400 and 500 grain arrow so you could find a happy medium if you shoot say 60lbs with a shorter draw comparing both videos but being 50lbs and a shorter draw in a testing video, that will help out a lot of kids, women and men that shoot lower poundage decide on an arrow setup as well.

@@GrandValleySportingGoods This is a great idea, being I just got into the sport again after years of being out of practice. I started this year with my second ever compound. First was when I was a child. Started with the Adapt 2 plus RTH Package (45-60).. Which I think was fair for the bow/Accessories. I didn't want to shell out 1k+ for a bow to know if I would get into it again. I am having a blast. Started a little over a month ago around 43# 27 inches of draw shooting a confirmed 411 grain arrow. (Easton Axis Sport '5mm' 340 spine) Which admittedly is a little over spined. But as I work my way up to 60 pounds I think it should essentially be my go to arrow for awhile. I may eventually get some RIP TKOs, but for now I am having a great time. I have upped the weight around half a turn on the limb every week, and I am shooting the arrow around 220FPS atm. (For now I have stopped increasing poundage as it is comfortable enough for me to shoot 30-50 arrows a day still. Only having to worry about mechanics and form at this time) Not sure the draw weight as I am having my friend use the draw scale to deter my mind from going okay that's good enough for me.

@@cr500miketypically shy away from single bevels because of flight at distance but if you’re keeping it inside 40 that should be a great arrow setup for you!

Isnt rampage a 5mm arrow?
@GrandValleySportingGoods
@GrandValleySportingGoods 15 дней назад
You are correct! But that is the inner diameter, the outer diameter with a 150 spine is about 7.5mm so with the other arrows that was as close as we could get to keeping the same outer diameter.

"These are around the same FOC" The whole POINT in adding weight to your arrow system (for penetration) is to add the weight up front (FOC). Of course, the GPI will increase "some" with the correct increase in spine, but the tests and data points conducted by Ashby and Troy Fowler do not center around a "heavy arrow" just for the sake of a heavy arrow. They always specified to shoot as light of an arrow as possible that would spine for the increased weight up front.
@GrandValleySportingGoods
@GrandValleySportingGoods 10 дней назад
@@tonyezolt4560 we’re planning on doing another video that is strictly based off of FOC. Starting with around 8% all the way to 21% at 500 grains all tuned to the bow to truly show what FOC does. Ashby’s test was done with traditional equipment so we’re trying to show what it does with a modern compound.
@tonyezolt4560
@tonyezolt4560 8 дней назад
@@GrandValleySportingGoods That would be great and more to the point. I'll never understand why folks point out the "traditional equipment". Point is, it's done with a kinetic energy machine that remains the same with only the arrows changing. I look forward to that video, but quite frankly, I know the results. Been using a heavy FOC arrow the last four years and it's literally "night and day" difference on animals.

@@philiphines7292 you are correct! But 5mm is the inner diameter. The outer diameter on a 150 spine is about 7.5mm which comparable to the other arrows we tested

the medium is ment to stop arrows what you just did with Penetration was a waist of time pretty much any arrow is gonna stop about the same in something made to stop arrows go shoot them into a tree its gonna be about the same. the only real test is on an animal and the heavy arrow will always do better when you hit what you didnt want to hit cause animals move no matter how good you are a good shot can turn into a not so good shot so its better to have as much weight as you can shoot as long as the arrow flight is good...
@GrandValleySportingGoods
