David has stated in many interviews he was taught the " healthy way" to sing with grit and he still has regular check in sessions with his vocal coach.😊🤘

David has been singing for more than 30 years...lol... he knows exactly how to use his voice with that distortion without hurting his voice... otherwise he wouldn't be singing beautifully to this day!! Right!!?? Lol....

Disturbed just has this driving force behind their music that you can't help but just get carried away in the vibe. As far as the way he's singing.. Taras has done that a little in ZHU - Faded that he and Improver did for their GBB tag team wildcard this year. Great reaction as always, and it's so fun to see how much you get into the music.

Really enjoyed your analysis of this! I just love the energy and power of this song. Rest assured, David takes very, very good care of his voice, especially now that he's older. If you're interested in learning something about harsh vocals, on 5/31/24 Elizabeth of The Charismatic Voice released a video of some research she's involved in where an MRI was done on Will Ramos performing harsh vocals. They also put tiny needles in this throat muscles to collect some other data. It was fascinating! and no true vocal folds were harmed in the making, lol. I would love to see an analysis of Stupify!!!!

It's interesting you say it's hard to add grit in a loud dynamic,. For me it is imensly more easier because the whole body support is already engaged (hopefully) which is a must for screaming and the increased airflow kinda helps direct some of it to engage the false folds by manipulating the soft palate and nasal cavities. Bit it is very different for each person and dependant on your specific anatomy. I am in no way a professional, but I am in the proces of finding and gaining control of my scream so just my two cents.

I don't understand the screaming techniques that well at all so I'm not particularly one to really have an informed opinion on the matter, even as a professional vocalist. I can really only provide interpretations based on my own existing experience. If you have a method that works for you and isn't destructive, that's awesome! Keep consistent and I hope to hear the byproduct of your hard work in the future =)
