Good evening! This is a channel devoted to captivating storytelling. There will be diverse stories presented on the channel so people of all ages can enjoy!
Geoff got his inspiration for this version of the song from Clamavi De Profundus. They are a chorus of gentlemen that are mostly bass and baritone singers. They sing mostly these types of songs (dwarven/middle earth). But also various others as well. They are absolutely amazing. I have several of their songs on my playlist. The Last Goodbye, When The Hammer Falls, Diggy Diggy Hole, and this are a few of my favorites.
Mate your face expressions and hand gestures are synced with mine at the end of the song, it's wild😂 I also wanted more of the last belt and found it at their show in Argentina, go check it out.
Just letting you know.... Geoff Castellucci released his new video last Saturday the 21st.... Song of Durin. He brought back the dwarves and added another. It is absolutely gorgeous. Voiceplay is releasing their new today Friday the 27th..... Be Prepared. Geoff makes a fantastic Scar. It is really really good.
So, started watching your channel because of your Dan Vasc reactions. But… yay! You did Dead South! Love this song and love them! There are a lot of us just that just love music in so many forms! Thank you ❤
It’s pretty cliche to say a person is “born” to do something. Most people aren’t that lucky. When Floor was born, her genetics and the ability to drop her jaw like that gave her two options. Either join a carnival as a side act swallowing apples whole… or sing. We’re glad she chose the latter.
I am soo glad you reacted to this!! I knew you would like it! Love your reactions! I always hear something new in things i have listened too many times before when you comment on something.
listening to this again I would also remind you that in brazilian portugeuse their is no TH sound so i feel like this def has an impact on how he sings and even says certain sounds.
Thanks! Dude! Your reaction and emotion while listening to this song were so genuine and heartfelt that I forgive you for (what I think is) the mandatory homework of researching the performer's genre and style. 'Like' from me. And I’m growing more fond of one person’s comment about this song: if they don’t play it at my funeral, I’m not coming. (Male, 52yo)
This is a genuinely amazing song, and you don't need to really have a strong sense of what the story in it is, you just *feel* it in your bones as you listen. Raw. Gritty. Messy. Everything that good Bluegrass should be.
This National Theatre production as a whole is a thing of beauty. Fun fact Hugh auditioned for Wolverine during his time in Oklahoma and had the Curly perm😂
I'm afraid I'm spoiled by Floor Jansen and Henk Port on this one. It's not about the singing but the massive expressiveness and connection between them. Pretty much everyone else seems a but flaccid by comparison.
Expertise, personality, enthusiasm, and a regular update schedule, recipe for success! I’d love to see you go down the barbershop rabbit hole. Great harmonies, breath control, humor, and insane tags. A good place to start is Notre Dame Medley by The Ringmasters. Love the content!
I don't understand why opera singers 'analyse' this or any other Nightwish song as if it's an operatic concert. Turunen has lengthy operatic training; Hietala has none that I know of. But it isn't La Scala. It's a rock concert.
I'm at... more than a little bit of a loss for why this cover brings tears to my eyes the way it does. Like... I've never heard the song before that I'm aware of. While yes, I grew up with Lord of the Rings (particular the BBC radio play that was a staple of long family road trips), I have never had any interest in the extended lore of Middle Earth, and so Durin's story is not one that I've really had any experience with. And YET... the deep sadness that Geoff puts into this cover... literally makes my eyes well up. That's... how you know you've really pulled it off with a song like this!
Hola desde Argentina... Geoff... Geoff... Geoff... Sacude el alma... Verdad? Y tú reacción también es genial .. se disfruta mucho más cuando es tan bien explicada! Gracias!!! Un abrazo a la distancia 😊
One of the most favorite versions of Andrew Loyd Webber. I belive there are a lot of brilliant singer that sang the part of Christine. To pretend Tarja did the best wouldn´t be right. She did a pretty good especially at the end of a metal concert. When it comes to Marco I don´t belive any male part ever sang better than he did in this version. Both did later other versions but never as goog as this one. It doesn´t mean Marco has the best voice on this planet although he has e pretty good voice. But if you take the charecter of the phantom ... It´s an ugly creepy murderer who kidnapped and brainwashed Christine. Do you really want a clean straight voice for that character ? It´s a good but also creepy voice with grid that is really able to come into someones mind like the lyric says.
Fantastic! Considering you are an Opera Singer, I'd suggest checking out Postmodern Jukebox's Chandelier cover with Dani Armstrong, that is a TRUE cover, better than the original in my opinion.
Great reaction, Daniel! Improver (pronounced Improoover 😊) is so talented! And I agree, we need 5 more minutes of this 🎵 Thanks again for the enjoyable analysis 💜
The other acapella groups, Pentatonix, Home Free, and Voiceplay, have been together at least since the Singoff on NBC in 2011. The Bass Gang strarted in 2021, during the pandemic. So naturally, the Bass Gang are just defining themselves, but they are pretty darn good for being newbies. By the way, one of these gentlemen, Marwan, lives in Egypt and as far as I knoww, has not met the others in person, and Peter Barber is one of your fellow opera singing reactors.
The Boy from Oz- Hugh’s best musical and us Aussies know Hugh from before he was a movie actor. It’s funny hearing people say oh he’s an actor who can dance and sing as we were watching him dance and sing before he became an actor 😂❤
Geoff perfectly captures what Gimli must have felt when he sang this. It didn't make it into the movie, but in the books when the Fellowship are amazed at the size of Moria, Sam wonders how dwarves could have lived in such 'darksome holes'. Whereupon, Gimli sings this to educate the hobbit about the greatness of dwarf history and that of this place, focusing on its founder, Durin. And it's a nice bit of video composition to work in his 'Geoff-ettes' as dwarf characters from The Hobbit, now but ghosts to Gimli, as he stands amidst the wreck that was once his beloved, shining city of _Khazad-dûm,_ singing of past greatness, and perhaps yet to be again. That which was once called _Dwarrowdelf_ in the Westron speech ('dwarf digs'), and _Khazad-dûm_ ('dwarf mansions') in the language of the dwarves, is now in the Elvish language _sindarin_ merely _Moria_ ('the black pit'). Heartbreaking for any stout dwarf such as Gimli!
I consider this performance to be so much better than Damrau's. However, for me, the best performer of Martern Aller Arten will always be Cristina Deutekom.
