LMFAO. As a major potterhead and a big fan of Opeth, this comment made my day. 🤟🏻😂 And now I know why I got this feeling that I'd seen Mikael somewhere else before. Mikael Akerfeldt and the Prisoner of Opeth.
I knew who they were over 10 years ago, but I was close minded about what they would sound like without hearing them. A few years back I read a heavy metal magazine about how Opeth changed and alienated their fans, I was intrigued and gave it a listen. I believe they are the only band besides Tool that I get excited to hear what they are doing.
Found watershed randomly at Target xx Had known Closure and Grand Conjuration that was it Not going into it expecting Metal Opeth i accepted it a bit differently than other albums It grows on you over time all opeth albums are somewhat like journeys
Maybe because it´s cold and dark outside. They have to stay inside and make music to avoid sickness from the dark winter…. :-) or it´s because the school system is more focused on music than ones in other countries. Who knows?
@@thomasschemer711 I heard thanks to all the high taxes over there, no sense trying to find a good job and get ahead because the government won't let you excel, so the only good way out is the arts.
@@TurtleFL how does the government not let you excel when the scandinavian countries have the highest HDI in the world? The taxes are high but their public services are among the best and most effective
@@TurtleFL Yeah - taxes are a bit stiffy. But when im in need of lifesaving treatment at hospital i dont need to worry about the money. Education at high school and university are free to. Dont need to be wealthy.
my art teacher saw them life and from what she told me it really sounds that she had the concert of her life lol And shes defenitly right, opeth has a massive variaty of sounds from folk, death to progressive not to mention medival dark vibe to it and lately they experimented with jazz sounds. this band has a big musical spectrum
You guys can stand up to any band in the world,I saw Ozzy in 83,and I'm enjoying this concert even more, makes me mad how you think your songs aren't as good, your a genius, hello wake up🤭🤘
Opeth changed my life and the way i listen to music. I had never fully paid attention to a +10 minutes song until i found these people... And then i found Steven Wilson, holy shit.
I am very lucky I got to see Opeth Live in Zagreb on 26th September this year! And later I found out that Waltteri from Bodom After Midnight is their drummer! Wow!
"at the end of this song I'm going to sleep" I said to myself. 12 minutes passed already and not only I can't stop listening to Opeth but the same song. not only a combination of riffs, rhytm and lyric, thing they play is a journey , that's why I'm a faithful fan of this guys. Cheers
Opeth cannot be too loud!! Best band in history - even rivaling the greats of the past (Beatles, Hendrix, Stones) these guys are the finest since Beethoven, Chopin, Bach.

1. The keyboardist is the real hero of the day here. Was kinda suspicious of the new guy (throughout what - 3 albums now:) ). But he's killing it. Total respect. 2. Akerfeldt is being Akerfeldty. Nothing new, nothing bad either. 3. Mendez, Fredrik, Axe are all doing a great job. 4. Opeth is not what it was. Get over that. Old stuff was good, new is good as well. 5. Growl are not that bad. But if you miss ol' good growls - Bloodbath welcomes you.
I should add this also: Opeth are fuckin geniuses of music. They are controversial , that's correct. but they are also giving the best. What you may like about them is that they are truly progressive. You may not like that as well, but that says something about you.
@@BrendanThompson Yeah, I was referring to Akerfeldt/Tagtgren period actually :). I've thought the same as you, however I saw one of latest live videos of them recently. And though the new guy is not what you'd expect of the singer after the previous ones, he has that sombre touch in his voice and appearance that though it didn't get me fully into it, but at least got my respect.
Been a fan of Opeth for over 10 years, their music has evolved so much through the years but it's always got that signature sound! It's cool they still play older songs aswell even though Åkerfeldt clearly is more in to classic rock nowadays. Don't forget your roots, always a good thing :) I like all of their albums, maybe exactly because they're all so very different. Good set!
These guys are genius & Mikael is so awesome, got to meet them in Orlando at House of Blues & smoked a blunt w/them outside the tour bus, unfortunately my girl friend there "Metal Suzy" that knows them personally & our crew didn't get to party the night with them as they usually end their tour in Orlando but this time, they had another show to go to. I told Mikael to tell the bus driver rushing them to leave, to chill, you're the rock star, lol. But he's so nice he laughed it off a bit & we had fun. Such amazing true musicians & their music is transcendent to another realm, another time & space. They take me away to this land of Avalon & Camelot & the lore of mysticism that is true reality & beauty & the raw emotion. The way they transition their changes is so beautiful & amazing. Rock on Opeth, 1 of the most talented group of guys on this Plan(et)
as an opeth fan from the very start, who listened to a bootleg tape of black rose immortal basically nonstop on my bus ride to school, i LOVED damnation, and can't believe anyone thinks it sucks
I saw them play most of this set live in Philadelphia during this tour on May 6th. Fucking sick. Ghost, Demon gave me fuckin chills. First time I'd ever heard Deliverance too and it blew my mind.... now it's one of my favorite songs!
My bucket list has you on it..... ONE DAY, I WILL BE IN A WHEEL CHAIR, ESCAPED FROM MY NURSING HOME, up front, head banging til I drop :) Me love me sum OPETH ♥
Awesome. I finally memorized an Opeth song. OK, actually an Opeth version of somebody else's song. "You Suffer" by Napalm Death. I'm pretty sure I can sing that one now. :->
