Go see them live and you might see them play it again. I've seen them live a dozen times since the late 90s and they've played Forest of October many times.
@@atides33 Never know, but so far this is the last tour they've played this in. Since 2016 they have had no songs in the setlist from the first two albums.. I quess the Opeth by Request will change that though..
Oh yeah, I saw them live 2 nights ago, and got to listen Black rose immortal and under the weeping moon, I’m incredibly happy, this was my 5th time, and could still go for many more. 🤘🏻
The memories that now rests in this forest Forever shadowing the sunrise of my heart Wings leave their nest at my coming Swaying away unto the cold glowing sky Dreaming away for a while My spirit sighs in peace Gazing unto the stars Please, take me there I am so alone, so cold My heart is to scarred to glow I wish the sunrise to come Take my soul (away) From this cold, lonely shell I am free From the eternal sea I rose Veiled in darkness on either shore Lost my pride, lost its glow For me the sun rose no more The forest of October Sleeps silent when I depart The web of time Hides my last trace My blaze travel the last universe Like the sights of magic Wrapped in aeons My mind is one with my soul I fall alone While leaves fall from the weeping trees
Amp settings are pre-gain 7 low 9 mid 1 high 9 in E standard. but remember this is live so the pre-gain here will be at 10 instead of the studio version that's at 7
Opeth, genius ! They are one of the few metal bands I'm still listening after 20 years I knew them. Seen live 17 years ago, and never forgot it. Mikael Akerfeldt and the whole group are amazing! thank you for your art!
The songwriting is very sloppy. I like the production better than morningrise but it could be so much better. Morningrise is better overall but I like orchid more.
I first heard this track on 2000-01 off of a compilation CD and shortly after purchased Blackwater Park @ Lou’s Records in Encinitas, CA. Lo and behold, the album knocked my socks literally the fuck OFF. Been a fan ever since and this rendition live, brought a tear to my eye. Excellence!
I'm no one to judge these amazing musicians but I feel that Akesson just doesn't play the solos with that level of finesse. Mikael's OTOH, so damn clean and smooth.
I really appreciate it, but I can't imagine they handleeling this kind of shit alive always. This is so hard to play that I imagine who was there had a pleasure to watch something unique!
The album production is black-metalish, like the 90's black metal, so it's not very pleasant... I really started to enjoy the first 2 records after listening to the live versions
The best versions of Orchid, Morningrise and My arms your hearse are the live versions. It´s such a shame the sound quality of the originals. We the fans would love a new master, or a live version of those albums.
I wouldn’t change MAYH at all, the way April Ethereal just blasts a hole through your headphones with a double bass wall of sound is authentic, everything is too overproduced and clean nowadays.
They all sound terrible. Akerfeldt himself has said this on numerous occasions. Especially morningrise. That album is just terrible sounding. I can’t hardly ever listen to it because of that.
This is why I don't understand all the down tuning anymore when E Standard still has so much to offer and is still heavy as fuck! I really got bored with D and C Standard fast. Standard needs to make a comeback.🤘👿🤘
@@bowelruptureGhost Reveries has a variety of Tunings, most songs are DADFAE. Most of their material is E Standard other than that album with just a few songs in Drop D here and there.
Something subtle i'd like to point out that is one of the many reasons that makes this band so killer. Listen to the guitars from 2:19-2:20; Fredrik does the most subtle slide down the neck and for the longest time I thought it was Akerfeldt some kind of crazy sounding bend. One of the coolest little moments.
Man, I wish Mikael could still grow like this. He just can't hack it anymore. It's so incredibly sad - these renditions from Orchid and Morningrise are just incredible. I wish they'd re-record those two albums with the same vigor of vocals from like MAYH or Still Life.
I'd say this dvd has his best cleans, but the weakest growls. They sound too brittle. His growls these days aren't exactly The Roundhouse Tapes quality, but I like them a lot better than this.
I know. It's like my frustration that MJ can no longer dominate in his 50's, and Babe Ruth can't still be alive at over 100 years old to still lead the league in homeruns. The disappointment at times is unbearable.
He's over that part of it and trying to do his own thing with his music....he is an artist, no matter what,he still loves his old shit....but time moves on.
I personally think it is beautifully shot. Really captures the intensity and magic of Opeth. But I understand one not liking if they want to focus on what each member is playing, but from a film point of view, it's great
as someone who has never heard this song because i couldn't stand the production of orchid what the fuck? this is literally one of their best songs ever?
@@Celatra they just need more time and listens than the later opeth songs, The apostle in triumph might be my favorite opeth song of all of their discography
@@Celatra yeah morningrise is much easier to listen to than orchid is, i think cuz it has more clean vocals but i guarantee you orchid is also a masterpiece once you give it enough time
@@ericarmstrong6769 Thanks , Now that's the reply i was hoping someone would put down or i would have said the same thing. I guess some folks that can't grasp it only need to look up the lyrics to understand what the song is & with Akerfield we are left up to figuring out his meaning. As Mike got the growl from hearing Ozzy do iron Man i take it this fellow doesn't like Black Sabbath either. Great thing about this band is we get it all both nasty & clean & it is what makes Opeth as good as they are . Endless creativity & the passion to not just play but play well.
