love his judas priest joke at comedy special #2. every moment mikael talk bout albums its just like hearing myself. could talk albums with this guy for hours. so funny when he asks fredrik what he thinks about turbo, singing locked in, mentioning Out in the Cold. Turbo, such an awful album, and he's spot on. that he says its lovely is not true. i know mikael's mind of thinking
With a setlist exclusively of death metal, and Mikael's growl sounding like it's 2008, I've got a good feeling about their next album - I want to cry! (And who knows, maybe it'll be a false hope!) xD
@@ileutur6863In Copenhagen they only played 2 post-growl era as well + 1 damnation so it’s not impossible! 1 song as a little comeback at least would be so cool🤩
Just take a minute to appreciate Mr Akerfeldt, playing these great rhythm guitar riffs whilst singing very good death metal and clean vocal styles, switching between the two... Incredible talent!
Seems like he's back from a very long journey. His live growls were not really good starting 2008 with Watershed and the Bloodbath Tours live. Actual live shows provide a lot of hope at least for live. Let's see where the journey continues on record :)
They look & sound fantastic, can't wait for the new album & full UK tour. I am probably in a minority, but I love there newer stuff also, especially the pale communion album, all eras do it for me.
I'm in the same boat. I have an equal love for the new stuff. That being said, on this shortened festival set and completely unexpectedly this set of only heavy stuff tickled my brain the right way.
I "thought" I liked it but honestly I've hardly listened to any of the opeth 2.0 albums I feel they just don't have the energy or passion of the older albums, but hey people feel the opposite
I was in this park 3 weeks ago as a tourist, visiting Finland for the first time :). One week ago I saw Opeth's performance in Copenhagen 😊, it was freaking amazing. In my opinion Opeth fits better to concert halls then open air festivals.🎉
Tbh the first show I witnessed Opeth was actually at Copenhell 2011 on the main stage in Denmark. Still the best show I've seen them. But their show in Amager Bio was also the second best. Better than when they played in DR Koncerthuset, that was not pleasant...
It was a very long way back. 2008 with Watershed and Bloodbath Touring, Mikaels Voice already sounded massively damaged and only got worse. So glad he NOW found the way back to great growls and screams. One of my alltime favorite bands seems to be BACK
Ive seen Opeth 5 times in thr last 13 years… but every time i watch a recording like this i feel jelaous and bad that i have to watch it trough a phone screen :)
Demon of the fall sounds incredible ive only ever listened to the old studio version but i loved hearing all of them play it in this video, lots of cool naunces.
Is this what the band is going for as to setlist-wise ? Cause they are on tour as far as i know. and if this is the case, i might consider seeing them live once more with this setlist. who knows
They just made some changes for the Greek show. This setlist is based on the fan chosen songs, and since most of these gigs are short festival gigs, it too changes the setlist. Proper solid setlist will come with the American tour.
Thank you for posting this my metal friend, I rediscovered Opeth 25 years later , I used to have a mp3 player with a bunch of random songs that I liked and circle of Tyrants was one of them, I rediscovered Opeth by hearing Ghost of Perdition and realized ive heard these guys at the beginning of their illustrious career , I listen to Opeth every day since then while I deliver packages for UPS in Chicago lol \m/ \m/ , Thanks
Wow. Talk about catching Mikael on a good day! Deliverance is still a mess with the growls but overall not horrible for all the miles. Wondering if he's realized he needs to take care of his voice and not drink and smoke so much.
Yeah it is kinda loose, Lopez’s more cracking tight snare on the record was perfect. To be fair the sound of the video isn’t amazing so it’s probably better than it sounds here
@eric791910 When watching (listening) to Opeth, this is what you think about? Maybe think more about women, or maybe you are gay or bipolar (nothing wrong with that).
its 2024.... and the band is still performing a setlist that was exciting 10 years ago+ Opeth, I love you until the end of days but fuck, you are boring af live.
@@sytharnia1717 oh yeah,Mikael was less talkative by that time, but pick some old shows from 2004 ahead, watch the Lamentations DVD and he talks a lot, the "comedy" is something Opeth concerts are know for, Mikael doing jokes, playing games with the crowd, playing riffs they suggested, is absolutely not new
