The guys talk about how Eddie Murphy doesn't do good movies anymore. They also mention others that started doing kid movies like The Rock, Ice Cube and Tyler Perry. (3-2-09)
Patrice (as always) is 100% right. Dolemite was great, so Eddie can still be funny if he actually tries...but its the easy/successful Adam Sandler model: make cheap, childish, thrown together movies with a lot of silliness and no effort. They make do make a “guazillion” dollars
The Rock later admitted that he listened to the wrong people and made some bad choices during the early stages of his movie career, so I think Patrice was correct at that time.
I think Vin Diesel did himself a huge disservice in not doing a sequel to XXX for WAY too long. The Rock might've been a little overexposed this year with too many movies in too little time. On the bright side I think he could pull off any sort of character, be it hero, villain, or somewhere in between and if the rest of the movie is good the fans will go all in with it and have fun. The only thing I'll say is he really should get moving on a Black Adam movie if he wants any chance of being a part of DC's movie universe (which can still be a thing at this point, though WB seems intent on making the wrong move as often as they can). And I'd liek to see him in another Rundown movie or more with Seann William Scott. Eddie Murphy's been doing seemingly so little for so long I think he's just content being kinda retired and just makes a movie when he feels like it. Which wouldn't be a bad thing for him except I don't think the movies do that well. Tyler Perry made a HUGE mistake with Boo 2 NOT being Madea vs. ghosts and stuff.
Boo should have been separate from the madea universe and made straight up like a treehouse of horror episode. Real monster no consequences when the movie ends
Nothing Movie is the best way to describe movies that have the most vague plots with trailers and commercials that tell nothing about the movie’s story. How do You Know and Mother come to mind.
The Rock is surviving because he has no competition when it comes to being a pure action star. He's the modern day Arnold Schwarzenegger, with no Stallone, Snipes, Steven Seagal, or Van Damme to compete with.
@@TChalla616 lol I compare this to rock music. I like the Foo Fighters, they’re pretty solid. I would not call them the best rock band out there yet they’re labeled as that. There’s just not enough big rock bands to compete with them honestly.
