I actually like Paul Rudd. He's not going to carry a movie, but as a supporting actor in a comedy, he's excellent. He was really good in I Love You Man, 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and even Reno 911. For Opie to talk about anyone being one-dimensional is a joke. At least Paul Rudd has one likable character.
Opie isnt one dimensional. He can press the caller button and read a "funny" joke off of Pal talk, while fake laughing his way through it the entire way..what a talented man.
He is right, but I think it is more of a thing that Paul Rudd is typecast rather than him not having range. I can't even think of him ever playing a villain or a really aggressive hero or whatever. His Hot Ones interview makes him out to be the coolest most genuine dude in the world : firstwefeast.com/eat/2019/10/paul-rudd-hot-ones
Paul Rudd is definitely Paul Rudd in every movie I've been saying it for years. Only exception is maybe anchorman. Glad he's not in every other movie anymore.
It is I J-Lalanne it is a long history - fans think that he would interrupt good moments to go to callers, who rarely added much to the show; that his bad moods would sometimes affect the show’s flow. There’s a longer explanation somewhere, if you check reddit
The more you listen to, the more it'll make sense. He's just not a funny guy and he loves to ruin things with his shitty soundboard. He's also a douche.
I'm guessing this was before Ant-Man. I Love You Man was funny and an enjoyable movie. Role Models was hilarious. When Rudd is a supporting actor he really helps a movie out. You know who sucks? Opie...when Opie plays himself he's an absolute douche and kills everything he's in and everywhere he is.
I wish someone in studio had brought up the scene in knocked up where Paul and Seth went to Vegas. Then ope could go that was Seth Rogen not Paul Rudd. Is anthony funny opie or is it a collaborative effort?... I'd have gladly sacced my job to go down as that legend in o&a history.
Paul Rudd happens to be in funny movies but he's NEVER the reason those movies are funny with the exception of 40 Year Old Virgin. But that performance is cancelled out, and then some, by Dinner for Schmucks. One of the worst movies ever made. Didn't even have a plot or a single laugh.
