This right here is the reason he got fired... opie wanted the website and didn't want to pay for it, foundry was the main page that Steve owned and opie and Anthony would redirect there because he had all the videos from years and years... they should have made their own website from the gate but the great opster let this man do his own thing then was upset because he was making a buck from it, that greedy piece of shit

Why is Opie so obsessed with the fact that the website generates probably between $5 to $20 a month in profit?

I'm with Steve. He did all the work. Opie is just too God damn fucking cheap and lazy to host his own website. So Steve did it. For EIGHT years. Which was NOT cheap back then. He uses watermarks to drive traffic to make it worth his while. He needs to make revenue or it's not worth doing

Steve C should have just removed all the O&A vids from his website, put them on a hard drive and mailed that hard drive to Jimmy with a note that said "over to you, Jim."

Steve put in the initial investment with no guarantees that he would make anything off it. If O&A wanted the website to run a certain way, then they should have made their own website and recoup Steve his initial costs.

I'm 100% on Steve's side with this issue. The whole "watermark" and "he made us buy back our own videos!" saga revolved entirely around the show and hosts being too fucking cheap to pay for their own website hosting. So Steve set it up himself, paid for the hosting himself (which was NOT cheap back then), and bitch boys throw a fit that he DARE try to recoup the maintenance cost? As far as reckless watermarking, that's a long practice safeguard against people ripping you off. For a lot of graphic designers or video editors, they will throw a giant watermark onto the work all the way up to after the client's final check clears. This is to protect them from the client fucking them over by taking the finished product and not paying. So good on Steve for not being their fucking slave paying out of pocket for his millionaire bosses' web hosting. I bet you anything they brushed him off for years whenever he asked if he was ever going to get reimbursed for it. He was essentially Morrie from Goodfellas. So good for him growing some balls and saying, "Fuck you. You get the videos when you finally reimburse me for this out of pocket service I've running for you." I doubt what they had to pay was even 0.1% of their annual salary. Hey Opie, you bitchboy, if $1500 is "nothing" to upgrade to first class airline tickets, why are you being such a bitchboy about paying Steve for these important videos, you bitchboy?

Of course Opie would complain about the money. If you pay to advertise on a website, you don't get paid per views. It's a set price. What good is a marketing class if the internet didn't exist when you took it. They didn't pay him to work the website but they complain about the watermark? I'm glad he made money when he sold the site. RIP Steve.

Always found this conversation funny because Opie used to record the radio show with his phone and put it on his own RU-vid channel, and Anthony and Jim both said they never saw a cent from any of the views Opie 'The marketing king' Hughes.

Here’s an analogy to make it clear what’s going on: Steve owns a truck. Since it’s his truck, he alone makes all payments in terms of maintenance, gas, and insurance. He uses his truck for his personal business. He then uses HIS personal truck for the company he works for. Now this company that wants him to use HIS personal truck for their purpose, is upset that Steve’s personal business logo is bigger on his truck than the companies logo. Steve is saying, if you want your logo bigger, than you need to start paying me because you guys don’t pay anything. Now Jimmy sounds very passive aggressive here but if he generally doesn’t understand how it works, what he should be doing is asking Opie and Anthony why they aren’t paying him to do this. If they were paying him, Steve would do whatever it is they wanted him to do because he wouldn’t be paying out of pocket.

They should have just PAID HIM.

I wonder if Opie looks back and holds himself accountable for Steve C’s suicide.

Meanwhile when Jim argues with people he tells them “I’m very specific and give example.” Lol where was that here? This was perhaps, one of the most passive aggressive conversations I’ve ever heard. I think everyone has valid points in this argument but I gotta side with Steve. Anyone who runs a successful site - or - a site with high traffic - will know that the owner is making such little profit from views and visits. It pays maintenance. Anything over considered "profit" is negligible... I love Lil Jimmy and the guys but he's making out that Steve was making a TONNE of money PAST what was needed to put back into site upkeep, domain registration and so on. This is - of course - assuming the web host has monetisation options by default. BUT I DO think that O&A content should have gone to the O&A site, with that site then being marketed better... and that the FM logo should be smaller on EXISTING videos...

Steve was using the O&A brand to get more traffic for his site. O&A trolled him. Then he tried to deflect by saying they would need a separate website 17:13 because of his watermarking. Then he killed himself 4 years after this.

But if you want people to know where tf to find it, it should have the site name where its hosted. Steve wasnt doing this for charity and he wasnt being paid a salary to do this.
