julianrokl Patrice O'neal has been locked in the #1 spot for years now. I can listen to all his O&A appearances anytime I need a laugh, and Elephant in the Room is just as fresh as the first day I watched it.
Wtf! Opie reading negative comments in the middle of Jimmy killing is so fucking obnoxious. Then he bombs with some stupid joke. I can understand why he was so miserable.
People in that studio sure have gotten pretty good at stepping around those massive craters left by Opie. And sad thing is I'm pretty sure that he's passing off listener jokes as his own.
Opie was never a comedic talent though. He's just some dude who ran the show and was best when he set up bits and topics for Ant and Jim to be funny and sat back.

Ant threw it away on twitter opie wanted to move on and jim and sam made the most of it best case if no one got fired it be ant and yimmy and then an opie show.. but still none of these moments happen without opie he isnt a comic hes trying to participate and everyone still hates him you can look up hour long compilations of jim or ant or anyone else on the show bombing getting car crashed and booooooo’d. The opie hate is really ridiculous. We understand he was never the comedian that the other 2 are, but did know what was funny, he knew what was gold. He interrupted at times, he bombed at times, shit he's a flawed person, but he's sat in a room with a sex addicted worm and a self confessed racist gun lover. Guess what - people aren't exactly perfect.
The Opie hate is completely justified. Not only is he boring, illiterate, can't speak, has no comedic timing, and is the definition of a hole every time he stomps out great riffs like fires ("Oh come on, guys, settle down!). But he does shit like this CONSTANTLY: Jim makes a great joke @1:03 about smelly testicles. THIRTY seconds later, Opie makes the EXACT same joke, stumbles over his words, only makes himself (fake) laugh, explains the joke, then apologizes that he made the exact same joke and apologizes to Big A all while still "laughing". It's phony and horrendous but was easily ignored when it was O&A&J and A-list comedians making jokes. Now it's Opie + C-list comics being asked to make serious points about headlines, fruit, condiments, documentaries - sorry docoomentrees-, carnival games, fish, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
+Desmondsdecker everything you said it all valid probably, but if I keep thinking like you, it just ruins the hours of material when in the back of my mind there's this anti funny presence in moments that I think are gold. I now have to remind myself that opie is the killer of all comedy even all three are belly laughing. It exhausts me to hate opie in ever single bit.
HostDisorder I'm sorry for that, but I'm just paying it forward. 10+ years ago when I just listened in my car, I thought I was like the only one who would yell, "Jesus, Opie, SHUT UUUPPP! You know NOTHING and are NOT funny." I assumed I was missing something since I'm a "civilian" and don't get the industry and clearly XM wouldn't reward talent holes. Then they did Jocktober and taught us to hate hack. Then I found fans online and realized it's a LOT of people that hate him. Then Opie started doing "The Morning View Zoo Chat with Jim and Sherrod/Normand/Vicky/Florentine/other awful 'comic'" and it's just awful. To this day, the best shows are Nopie shows, like yesterday's with Sam, Benson, and Rogen.
HostDisorder It's not because he wasn't a comedian and the others were. It's because everyone would laugh and have fun and rip on each other, and Opie wanted to be part of the fun but trampled funny lines and got angry when people made fun of him.
