I had a bad car crash that broke my neck my back crushed my arm to the point where they had to repair it with 2 metal plates and 8 screws and I received a pretty bad head injury. I had never experienced sleep paralysis until that. The first time it happened it freaked me out.. I thought I was dead. I could hear and see everything around me but I couldn't move anything and it felt like I was being smothered for what seemed like hours. It happened like 5 times after that and then it just stopped I'm not sure if it was caused by the meds or what but it hasn't happened in years now its so hard to explain to people what it feels like but I really think this is what people who have "out of body experiences" are really experiencing. I had no idea sleep paralysis was even a thing until it happened to me.

Sleep paralysis is a very real scientifically proven phenomenon. It's actually very common, although not everyone experiences it, or even if they do they may not remember it. I've experienced it dozens of times and I absolutely despise it. It happens when you wake up unexpectedly during the REM cycle of sleep, when your body is purposely paralyzed to ensure deep sleep. You're not supposed to wake during it. The natural process is to go through REM sleep undisturbed then go into the final stage of sleep which you are supposed to wake from as your body is no longer paralyzed and able to react to any and everything if need be. REM sleep is extremely important to have, if you're deprived of it your body will wear down badly. I suppose morons and the uninformed would absolutely believe waking during REM sleep is the mystical "out of body" experience. Makes perfect sense, for them.

I have had sleep paralysis since I was a kid I usually only get it if I sleep on my back something I don’t understand is very rarely I feel like my kidneys are being squeezed and on 1 or 2 occasions it felt like my testicles were being squeezed that was the worst very similar sensation though

Love how Opie just blurts out that without Tom Petty there wouldn't be Jay-Z but doesn't explain it to act all knowledgeable, only to become a verbal drunk driver to the very next caller Nick to cover it up, and then even later act like he doesn't understand when a later caller refuses to explain something and calls out Opie for that shit.

There are a bunch of little fixes on the show such as the double-sided prize card that gets flipped depending on whether the contestant guesses the final puzzle or not. There are also plants put in from time to time to boost ratings. This sounds like one. a few weeks ago, I guy guessed a final puzzle with almost no letters and totally failed trying to sell his fake surprised reaction. Could be real though.

@@Lamtitude Yea, it's so strange hearing him pop up in the calls every now and again. If I remember correctly, when Anthony did his Greggshells episode back in 2015, he called TACS to discuss it. I think he also called the O&A show during the Lady Di internship, he was the caller who said that Lady Di worked at a grocery store and got fired for not ringing up thousands of dollars of groceries correctly.

As a lucid dreamer myself every day, and sleep para multiple times a day, its easy to have these NDE exp's/oout bodies/astral project, its all a dream :) I had them soo many times I lost count. Ant is prety spot on about the brain without jumping into hippie nonsense.
