After running several tests the Opolar does do a slightly better job at cooling the CPU over my laptop cooler but will produce more noise and take up valuable space next to your laptop. You want to consider the location of your vent and if any important ports will be blocked. It does block my VGA port but doesn’t obstruct my HDMI.
I would use the Opolar cooler for gaming and video editing when my laptop is running at it's hottest. For all-day use, I’ll stick with my laptop cooler which does a great job keeping my laptop cool. The temperature drops with the Opolar were higher by a few degrees but not enough to convince me to switch from my laptop cooler for regular use. I will use it when I’m editing videos to get maximum cooling.
