Pas David Guzik is doing a terrific work. I appreciate his diligent teaching the Bible. His work doesn’t deserve to be labeled “dishonest preaching”. If “Ricardo Castro” is indeed a preacher who has wrongfully not given credit to some other person whose quote he used; & learned the error of his ways, why didn’t he gently & privately contact Pas David Guzik. Ironically, I think that “Ricardo Castro” has by raising false flags shown that there are religious people in today’s world who will continue to distract us from the truth of the MESSAGE. To Pastor David Guzik & team: keep up the good work. Thank you for your teaching!

The one question that popped out to me just recently about verse 2, why would the disciples ask that question that way? The man was "born" blind, so how could he have sinned to cause it in the first place? Why would they even voice that consideration? Seems strange and I think there may be more to that question. I just don't know what! A translation thing, maybe? I was pondering a deeper meaning but coming up with zero.

Thanks for the question. Here are some verses that might help. Romans 8:28, 29. 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. Pastor David, I noticed you alluded to a quote of Charles Spurgeon and did not give credit to him, that’s dishonest preaching. I m a preacher myself and I’ve done the same thing but the Lord called me out on it to correct it, peace to you.

Over the past year I’ve been reading through the commentaries on the Enduring Word website. He quotes often (and gives credit to) Spurgeon, Morris, and others. I’m sure he just has their words so top of mind that it flows off the tongue at times.

I’m just curious, did God call you out on it by the Holy Spirit quickening you for deliberately using someone else’s words as your own? Or did someone come along and falsely accuse you of being a dishonest preacher for making a mistake? I don’t know how much you know of Pastor Guzik, but it doesn’t take long either listening to him or reading his commentary on his website to know that he often quotes from and credits Charles Spurgeon. So if he did allude to Spurgeon and didn’t credit him, it was an honest mistake and there was nothing dishonest about it whatsoever. So please choose your words more carefully and please make sure any person you’re accusing of being dishonest is actually a dishonest person.
